Not to be controversial, but I think they could have had a lot more fun with the demo and really tied it in to the main game a bit more. As someone playing from Day 1 have all the cars etc it was a fun mini experience.

There was more of a bit of scope to put in one fleshed out league (FF, FR, Sunday cups) to get that whole sense of things.

That said critical hat on the AI is pretty weak when arguably you'd want a slightly better AI for chase the rabbit.

Overall it's ok and not aimed at me or most of us and the cars being passed over is great for new players as a seasoned player it's not really that much of a draw, I did really enjoy the licences though after the first couple.
I was a release day 1 game buyer for GT1 - GT5, but skipped GT6 when i realised you really needed a wheel to get the most out of it. I dabbled with GT Sport, mostly due to the livery editor. When GT7 came out i balked at spending £70 on something i felt i may still feel alienated from as a controller user, but imagined i'd probably buy it eventually. It's now more than two and a half years since it came out and i've still not taken the plunge, instead vicariously living through ownership of it on this forum.

I jumped at the chance of this 'demo', not expecting too much content, just wanting a taster to see if i could still enjoy it. I've struggled a bit with the licences, still got a couple to 'gold' but my patience wears out after a dozen or so attempts these days. The races i felt were pretty easy in comparison, even on the hardest level and trying to race 'cleanly'. But it has got me back into playing Gran Turismo, and given that GT7 is currently on offer, i will more than likely be buying it shortly due to MFGT - where as there was a good chance that i'd realistically never have bought it otherwise.

So what even is 'Music Rally'? Am i missing something or is it just 'do a lap in traffic before the time runs out'? I don't get where the music even comes into it

Yep. It's basically a time trial, but the clock doesn't count up. More like an old-school arcade checkpoint race.

But with music.

It's an Entirely Different Thing, Okay?!

There is specific music playing through out providing a sort of check point pacing of sorts.

I golded all 3 on first attempt so didn't stick around long enough to properly figure it out - but it would appear there's nothing to figure out about it any way!

Coming off the back of the IB Licence tests and the GT Cup event, it felt oddly easy.

You have the music duration to pass check points which will reload your countdown, if the countdown expires before next checkpoint, you fail, until the end of the music.

I find this mode absolutely useless, plus the music choices are very bad, for the few I did.

Did only the one mandatory to play GT7 and the 3 of MFGT (golded at first try and bye-bye), just to get the cars.

you all are so short sighted.... this demo is not so much for GT7, but for the future of GT series and showing how things are as of today... where it could go from here without showing anything...

you have to extrapolate and trust the process...

did anyone of us imagine or think much about how things would be when we first played GT1 or GT2, or whichever GT you started with ? Even Kaz probably didn't know, but if he did, he is 100 steps ahead of us...

This is a demo to mark a milestone, waypoint from which new path will be traced...

if you are not seeing it, then you will never see it...

the Demo is not so much about things that you can see, but rather it is for things that you dont see and can be...

You have to take things at face value here.

dont try to understand or read too much into it, but just trust that we are still on track... the important message here is that the train tracks of the hype train still have ways to go, it is not ending, unlike Forza where it is going no where but downhill LOL

If anything, I see this Demo as a positive point... you all are so negative with your limited understanding....
I don't see anything derogatory in my post. Just evidence of release dates. Even a nearsighted person can notice this.

you are right, there was nothing derogatory in your initial post.
and i didn't accuse you of being insulting in anyway... you are fine.

if anything, it was me calling, not just you, but anyone else who has made the same type of observation as you, which is that: you say the demo came out late...

the normal standard is that a demo comes out before the full game, i agree

BUT BUT :

it is not a hard rule, nor that there is any rule preventing a demo from coming out AFter the full game.
and that's why i call you ALL for having "short sight".

The point is that Short and near sighted people will only see things that everyone can also see, which is at face value and nothing else,

but you have to be able to look beyond that, and understand the true purpose of this "untimely" release of this demo... it may not make much sense to you, but it actually does if you really think about it, go beyond your short sightness ;)

I wasn't trying to make anyone feel bad about themselves, i am sorry for using words that may hurt your feelings, but that was not my intention.
My intention in all my interaction is to share and educate, whether it be you or even myself.... it's a constructive exchange.

We all have different point of views, and that's OK, not a problem. Diversity is good.
The real difficulty is to be able to help each one of us understand from the other persons' perspective and still remain "understanding' and cordial...

Played and "beat" MFGT last night. Overall, it's a good display of what you can find in the main GT7 game. For someone who already owns the full game and already owns all the cars, has access to all the tracks and races, etc. it was fairly pointless. However, for someone who is new to GT and wants to see what GT7 has to offer, this free demo is great. A huge positive with this little demo is that the 18 cars you win carry over to the main game. A few of those cars are legendary cars and some of them are quite expensive, especially in the early game. This should give your collector status a nice opening boost and open up more menu books and tracks that you can race on right from the start.

I haven't opened up any of my tickets, but do the cars have any miles on them or are they all 0 miles? Not that mileage means ANYTHING in this game, but it is something that the game keeps track of, so it has piqued my curiosity.

Too all those who struggle with getting golds on MFGT, no one license test really difficult until IB-3. And IB-4&IB-5 seems extremely difficult.
Edit: I forgot how much I hate license tests! They ruin all the GT games except where I can download/copy a save with all licenses done. The progressive function is 100% of the fun, all else just boring grinding even when I get gold at first attempt.

I love the licence test that is GT to me, the only really really tricky one was the full spa in the wet/drying 917. In MFGT there was an awkward one but other wise just follow the ghost.

I'm gonna be controversial here but just drive and learn more.

The Lexus and the NSX were a bit slipperier than I like, but after loading up a ghost my time immediately dropped. A few tries later I got the golds. I recommend loading up the best players ghost and see how they do it. I find chasing a faster rabbit makes me drive faster as well.

Here's an hour of me on the Struggle Bus. Some of these felt just as hard, possibly harder then some on the main game.
