Just going to throw this up again for everyone to see.

Daytona SS will have some differences.

We will be using the rolling start 2x option.

Penalties will be off for all divisions so as not to turn bump drafting into a ghost passing festival.

The yellow line is out of bounds. If you put any part of your car below the yellow line and improve your position in the process, you must give back the spot or you will be subject to a shortcutting penalty. The only exception to this is if you are avoiding an on track accident.

Under no circumstances are you to force another car below the yellow line. If you push up the track there is a better than average chance that someone (maybe four someones) are going to be inside of you. You are not to cut back across their line. You have just made a mistake and must rejoin the line when it's safe to do so.

I have no idea what you're talking about but there are no such rules in SNAIL. It's pack racing so you have to look in all directions before you change lines. If you drive over the top of someone who has their front bumper to your rear tire, that is your fault for changing lanes when you're not clear to do so. Overlap at turn in means nothing at Daytona. It's basically one long straight (with gentle curves) as we are flat out the whole time. I suggest you use a racing view with a mirror and practice with the look left, look right buttons so you can turn and look at the same time. If you can't do these things, then I suggest picking a lane and staying there for the whole race.

Alright thanks for clearing that up i found a lfs video that actually explains what i meant he shows it on the second example after he shows the correct way of partner draft where the front guy pushes further in/up before turning in

Is it permissible to link one off special events under different sanctioning bodys. I have done it in the past but just want to make sure its ok.

You would need to ask @zer05ive if it's OK to advertise non SNAIL events in the SNAIL thread. As long as the event isn't in direct competition with a SNAIL event, it's usually not a problem. @alienracing might want to take this advice if he hasn't already.

Just looking at the incident report I want to make a comment about the "unsafe re-entry" penalty.

Here's what I typically do when I screw up and go off (which is at least 3-4 times a night)....just stop the freaking car and wait for everyone to go by. I screwed up, time to pay the piper, not make others pay for my mistake.

But what I see, race in and race out, is people driving off track and staying on the gas trying to lose as few spots as possible. Their tires are dirty, they hit the pavement with no traction going 20-30mph slower than traffic, and right in the way of someone. If you can see them coming on the mini map then they are too close to re-enter safely.

Stop trying to save your freakin positions and ruining other peoples race by driving back on to the track. You screwed the pooch, suck it up, stop your car and wait for everyone to go by before getting back on track.

Just swallow your pride instead of trying to save a couple of points. You are going to pay...either by being penalized afterwards OR by just sucking it up and owning it, wait for the drivers to go by and get back on in last place if you have to.

Every one of my last place finishes has come from me crashing, waiting for everyone to pass, then re-entering safely...usually over 10 secs back. It's frustrating but it's the right thing to do.
I get what your saying, and snail has strict rules regarding this, but the instinct is to try and save it before the car is completely thrown away.

The hazard you are highlighting and frustrated by is exactly what happens in real racing. But in real racing, the reentry rules only applies to a car that has come to a complete stop. Otherwise it's still in contention as long as it's not gaining an advantage.

The reaction of a real racer is to assume yellow flag behavior, knowing the driver could loose control at any time, but passing is still allowed until you see that flag. There is no rule in any form of competative autosports that requires, encourages, or even suggests yielding outside of a flag being thrown (note, rule, not educate), and those flags aren't called until the car is stopped or incident is concluded...

I get the frustration, but it's a form of simulated reality and requires people to consciencly do something unnatural... GT 6's ice like curbs are dirt/grass are completely unrealistic.

I'm not disputing the rule, just explaining the reality of why its so common... I've been collected before in real life and it's always been my fault for taking the chance when I could have yielded.

yea i wasnt trying to compete thats why mine starts 2 hours earlier because i know cmbeal has his event start at 10 and i respect that. And i didnt realize i had to have zer05ive's permission. Sorry.

The only thing you forgot is that you overlap your race with SPEC. You start at 8:00pm ET and you have 2, 1 1/2 hr races, which overlaps SPEC by over an hour as SPEC starts at 10pm ET. My question is did you consult with @cmbeal317 regarding the overlap? SPEC has the priority for two reasons. It is run as a Snail Racing Series Event and it has been running for over 2 yrs.

No i didnt and intentions were i had a few open spots tonight and if any one who wasnt signed up in his would be more than welcome to join mine for tonight. Thats all i didnt realize it would be an issue this big considering there are so many other leagues out there that do the same stuff on Saturdays and Sundays. I havent stole any of his competitors or anything as a matter of fact ive been trying to keep away from asking people from Snail because alot of them are in Beal's. I was just hoping to catch a few that wasnt. And since we ran on low numbers because people were on vacation and such last week we are only running for an hour and a half until we can get a full grid.

I think your missing the point. You advertised a 'Non Snail' event on the 'Snail' thread when there is already a 'Snail Event' running already on Saturday where your event overlaps a 'Snail Event'.

Sorry just didnt think it was a big deal and i understand your point. Ill remove it.

Is anyone interested in doing a monthly "SNAIL 1%er" special event? This would be a one-Friday-per-month event where we drive the very, very expensive cars using the SNAIL model - clean above all else, no tuning, and mirroring the Sunday night 3 combo model. I very much want to race the Ferrari 250 GTO against you guys . . .

Yes.

I thought it was decided a while ago that no weather and no night was par for the course. But, that was many moons ago.

Night sounds good, but no weather - it can change too much from room to room, plays havok with promotion & relegation comparisons, etc.

Does it though? I mean, right, in most settings I agree. But full rain and full water on track? I am near certain that in this event, which would be the only weather setting to be this Way, I am near certain that with full weather and 100% track wetness, that it would stay consistent for the whole race and through all rooms.

I think there's also the factor of network capability, weather can often bring issues when it comes to lag and I can't imagine having rooms that already experience lag in dry weather host a room with full wet weather

Do i spot a formula SAE car!?!?!?!?

Slow reply, but yes you do! I'm studying engineering at the University of Victoria, BC and we made the car in the photo. They have a silly rule which disallows people who've not been on the team one year to drive the car, but I've just hit that one year mark and I'm hoping to give it a run in the next few weeks!

Here's a little clip of our lead driver driving it in the competition in Lincoln, NE earlier this year, can't go flat out in these things as they're extremely delicate:

For questions about day, night, or weather, read this: Policy on tracks with weather and?or time progression. The answers (or links) to most of the questions anyone may have can be found in the first post.

The driver's list is set to go for Sunday night racing. Make sure to get your friend request's handled well before race time to avoid issues.

Came home from work today and kids tell me the ps3 won't read discs. Spent last few hours tearing apart and cleaning the ps3 including the blu rat lens but it's still not working. Probably not racing tomorrow night.

Noooooooooooooooooo. What's the point of life anymore :(

I'm not trying to stir the pot here however, I truly wish that we could switch race 1 car with round 2 keeping tracks in the same order. I know that it's not going to happen and I know I'd have to earn my right to voice my opinion accurately. I think that I'm speaking for more people than just myself here in saying that it just makes more sens. Again, not trying to make waves and I'm honored to be in snail and my division.
