Just trying to keep the record keeping side of things in order. Zeromisfit999 scored points in D5 already this month, so he's not moving without causing problems. Tezgm99 has not raced in D 1-8 so if he wanted to move he probably could without creating any scoring issues but it would be up to @zer05ive and @kcheeb.

I think in a case like this, no points exist in D1-8 (record keeping is intact) and Championships will not be affected, it's allowable.

It's really like a new S.N.A.I.L. joined and said they wanted to race in the West Coast time slot.

Then it appears it's up to @tezgm99 as to where he wants to run. I will wait for his decision.

I have sent out PSN Friend Requests to anyone that didn't have it before.

Was only missing three, I think! 👍 D6 is ready to roll.

Thanks for the links, Rally. I tested out an '02 MX-5, this afternoon, it was nice. Just have to finish off the garage to get the final green light. I will try an S2000 to see what I think. The 350Z was fun, but bigger than I felt like dealing with. No, not that, hard to articulate, but while it was a really really nice car, it just didn't make me wish I had my checkbook in front of me. A camera, sure, but that is about it.
Like I said aye? Nice for a Sunday drive on some back road twistys, but it just doesn't have that racing spirit. A friend of mine has a g37, and the amount of work he had to do to make it a decent track car was ridiculous. My 1985 RX7 with suspension from the 90's desert fried tires and a 1.1 liter engine ran within .1 seconds of his car on an autox track. Not so much out a Arroyo Seco Raceway though.

@Handlebar I say go with a Miata as well. Great car, excellent online community, easy to work on and upgrade and everyone should own a convertible at least once in their life. :)

If you can find a hardtop for AutoX'ing as it "connects" the 4 corners of the car for even greater stiffness.

Here's me circa 10 years ago at Deal's Gap.

S.N.A.I.L. Two Year Club

Please join me in congratulating the following S.N.A.I.L.s on becoming the latest entrants into the two year club 👍

@kcheeb

@whatbadgerseat
@Oshawa-Joe can you update the Drivers List please? Thanks!
Got to say it feels a little weird giving yourself a shout out :lol: It's been a wild ride, mostly ups 👍 but more importantly a bunch of good people added to my life :cheers:

Team S.N.A.I.L. Update

The latest roster has been completed. I believe we have most of the critical positions filled for tonight. Division 6 is still a little light but I think we will make it. It will take entirely too much time to post all (9) divisions here. I still need to address a few D5 issues. If you are a part if Team SNAIL please follow the link below and double check my work. Please let me know if you find any mistakes so I can get them corrected before this evening. Thank you all !!

You need to decide if it will be strictly a funday car or a daily driver as well. For a track car you want parts to be cheap and readily available. Hop ups shouldn't be hard to find either.

If you will use it for a fun day to day driver as well then you want it to be a somewhat cool car as well :)

I personally have never liked Miatas (just not very cool nor masculine). But they are very capable cars :)

Get something you like but also cheap to fix when you need tires, brakes, parts etc.

Exo, I'm brand new to the league this week, so I don't think it's a great idea to expect anything clerical of me just yet, but I'd be willing to help out with data entry, replay uploads, etc. (or perhaps whatever else you guys may need) for the D5 issues you mention. By next week, with a little time to familiarize myself, I'd be open to whatever. Do you post open positions / requests publicly or should we just PM?

I was just discovering the OEM hardtop possibilities. Looks like I would still need a roll cage if I ever went as far as wheel to wheel, but that can be later. Thanks, fellas!

Joe - you nailed it as well. The only negative for the Miata for me is that slightly petite vibe. That is why I want to try the S2000 also.

@ExoSphere64 - D6 will be FRIENDS ONLY tonight.

Right on! I think we will have everything covered for D5 tonight but my old brain will forget by next week so when you feel you are ready to join the Team, let me know and we will get you all set! Thanks!

Hooker, for what I had the chance to watch, you definetly have good pace. I really think you are fast enough to be in D3. The thing is, I don't know about your consistency, how often you keep that pace and finish races in top positions. As soon that starts happening you will be in a higher place...for sure.

S2000 is what I would recommend. I'm kind of biased though since I own one.

@Handlebar
Some cool, capable, relatively inexpensive cars with personality I've seen at the track were...
Late 80's, early 90's 3 series
944 Porsche
Early-mid 80's 911 Porsche.
Toyota MRS
Toyota MR 2...the later ones with the rounded corners.
S2000.

I know you mentioned some older ones as well but these are cars I have some experience with.

I have no experience with Porsches, but there was a 914 in the Northwest Region SCCA Solo II that absolutely killed everything else. I believe it placed in nationals, too. Ever since I saw that, I've been lusting after one.

Attention Division 5

Since D5 will be a "Friends Only" lounge tonight, everyone must make sure that you are PSN friends with Tex-36 and myself. I have sent out FR's to all of the drivers and Tex will try to get them out on his side. Please check soon and if you do not have the FR, send one out to the both of us. Also DO NOT wait until the last minute to get this done. If we all work together, we will be ready before race time tonight!

There is an issue. It's looks like goofytyler is host for both div 7 and div 8??? I can take host for div 7

Ah Deal's Gap. I used to love driving up there when the speed limit was still 55mph:) No bikers no cops. It was a truly awesome road to drive fast on.

914's are really great cars for Auto-X. The reason I didn't list it is due to availability. These things are increasingly rare and increasing in value because of it. Talk about an oversized go-kart ;)

Many use the boxer 4 cylinder which are durable and cheap to fix while some use 2.0, 2.2 and 2.4 liter flat six engines which are even more durable and much more powerful and smooth. The problem really lies in the chassis as far as buying a good one. These cars were not galvanized and were very susceptible to rust.

Find a good one, though, and you are in happy land ;)

Given that I can't make 6:30, I'd have thought it pretty obvious that I would be placed in the WC division :/
And we are happy to have you.

Also @zeromisfit999 posted this a while ago although he may want to confirm
I would like to race the west coast series. What time is this at eastern time? I thnk it would be better on my schedule. I am a night owl. Might also race the regular races tonight in d5, but I am simply curious. Is it at midnight? Directly following the other races?

You'd still need a roll cage with an S2K though for wheel to wheel. Although the S2K does have factory structural roll hoops so they will be allowed on more tracks/clubs in stock form. IMO an S2K is just as feminine as a Miata... it's just part of owning a small convertible but it's hard to beat the feeling of spirited driving with the top down on a nice day/night.

When at deals gap did you stop at the store at the bottom of the hill with all the wrecked parts hanging from the tree?

S2000 is infinitely more masculine than a Miata. It looks more like a sports car definitely.

I tell you, one of the coolest looking convertibles, to ME, is the Triumph TR6.
Triumph_TR6_%282%29.jpg

I really wish that someone would come out with a cool, simple convertible car nowadays. Something you wouldn't be embarrassed to be seen driving. Something that doesn't cost $30k or more. It doesn't have to go 150mph, or even 130mph. It's a convertible, who cares. Just give a small 6 cylinder, smooth, 200hp and about 2200lbs and you'd have a seriously fun car.

Autotrader has a 914 in the Portland area, DrK....

You are good, Daddy, I will be there. I will open the room 9:10 or so, depending on how close the 49'er vs Seahawks game is at that point.

Joe, wouldn't that be like a convertible BRZ? Just read that won't happen. Yeah, the TR6 is what my heart wants, but I am trying not to ignore my head.
