Thank you for clearing up the boost issue for me.

When I first read your comment about the having the 2 tires compounds, I took that to be that we are required to make a pit stop at some point during the race (in this case 20.1 laps - 20 laps, 1 pit stop) and we had to use a set of RM and then a set of RH (or vise-versa). Now from what I'm reading it seems you are saying we are required to run both the RM & RH tire compounds at the same time?

Please clarify.

Very sorry for the confusion. There is a mandatory pit stop during the race, which can be taken at any time. The rules on using the two compounds are that each must be used at least once during the race. So you could start on one, then change at the pit stop. I think this will add a little more strategy to the race, and avoid having everyone coming in to pit at the same time. I was doing a little testing earlier, and with my driving style got around 10 laps with RM. They were about halfway gone at that point, but I usually like to change them before they are too far gone. Obviously you'd get more laps out of the RH, but at a loss of grip. Hopefully that will clear everything up, but if there's anything else that needs clarified, please let me know.:)

I read it like f1. Must pit at some point to switch to the other tire
The OP, yes, I read it like that too. However, in his reply, the wording is suggests that both tire compounds are required at the same time. I'm sure this is simply a matter of poor wording, but I want to be sure before I make a decision on whether or not I'm going to agree to run this event.

Okay, I went poking about, but... I need some feedback. I just can't decide:

Aston Martin's Solent Silver
Jaguar's XJR-9 Purple
Subaru's WR Blue Mica
Chrysler's Orange Pearl Coat (from the Prowler)

Are these body color choices, or are you pondering these as wheel color choices as well? My only suggestion would be to pick a combo that is different from the herd so that you are instantly recognizable, even from a distance.

Zero, my colors are black body on gold rims. No specific black, just whatever comes with the car when I purchase it from the NCD.

Okay, cool. I've updated your colors on the color list.

cheeb, you think you could add a link to the color list at the bottom of the driver list?

Thank you for clearing up that misunderstanding. I'll run the race tomorrow night.

Sorry that that second post was poorly worded. The idea for doing this did come from F1, and just to make sure everything is clear I'm going to work out an improved version of the original post for this event. That will also include the possibility of running the RM Golf GTI in the future and how everything will work for Saturday night. I'm going to get working on that now.

The way I am able to have multiple uses of the DLC paint chips is to have the DLC on an account other than the one I use for S.N.A.I.L. racing. I buy the car I want on the other account, paint it the DLC color, and then send it to this account. I then delete my gamesave from the other account and restore it to a point where I have all my paint again. Being that I can only gift one car a day, I am limited to producing one car painted any certain color per day.

Then if we start the series, we could have two classes running alongside each other. They would be separate from each other, with a total of 7 cars in each series to meet the max of 14 cars.

I like the idea....however wouldn't it be bordering on becoming a racing series over a club/league? I know there's GT500/GT300 (using the Japanese cars; Raybrig NSX, ARTA Garaiya '03, etc) that one of my friends used to do on here until his dodgy internet connection caused him too much grief with it so he gave it up.

diabolic, I'll be there tonight, without any practice though :nervous:

cmbeal, I'll be there tomorrow night, but not likely till later on. Love driving the M3.

*Updated from original post, that caused some initial confusion.*

Special Rules:
Due to some confusion I have decided to outline the tire restrictions to hopefully get everyone on the same level.
  • You can choose which tires to start the race on, either racing hard or racing medium
  • There is a mandatory pit stop during the race
  • At this pit stop you should change to which ever tire you did not start on. Example: You start on Racing Hard, at the pit stop you would change to Racing Medium or vice versa
  • There is no limit to how many pit stops you take, so long as you make one to change tire compoud
  • All qualifying should be done on Racing Mediums, but if you think you are faster on Racing Hards then by all means qualify on them.

Post Race Activities:
I would like to test running the Race Modified VW Golf GTI alongside the M3 GTR Race Car to see whether it would be worth it to race them together should we begin a series starting next Saturday night.

There are two ways possible ways I could see this turning into a series outlined below.

Possible Series 1:
  • Have 1 race Saturday night, possibly expanding it from around 40 min. to 1 hr. racing along side each other, though as two different classes
  • Points would be totaled up in two groups. Those running the BMW M3 GTR would have their own points, while the VW Golf would have separate points.
  • At the end of the season, about 7 or 8 races, the top three from each group would then be eligible for prizes to be determined later in the series

Possible Series 2:
  • There would be two races each night, one for the M3 GTR Race Car and one for the RM VW Golf GTI
  • Each race would last around 40 min. with 20 min. for qualifying
  • Points from each race will be added together, this would result in one list of drivers throughout the season with 3 prizes upon the completion of the season.

*If there is any more confusion or anything needing further clarification, please let me know. Thanks!*

Is there a minimum distance that has to be run on a set of tires, or is there a maximum number of tires sets (maximum number of pit stops) we have? The reason I ask is...

Start the race on the harder compound. Run one lap. Pit. Run the rest of the race on softer compounds. Huyler did a test, and even taken pitting into consideration, on races where the harder compound won't last the entire length, it is usually faster to pit more often on faster tires.

I thought in F1 they only had so many sets of the blacks and reds (and so many fresh and so many scuffed, which we can't do here).

Regrettably, the color that stands out the most of those four is the XJR-9 Purple, which is the one of those four that I'd have to dupe. I can get the others easily enough.

I've avoiding duping so far because I know I'll eventually mess up and corrupt my entire save game. But... I guess I should try it.

I don't have a limit for how long you have to run each tire compound. I want it to be open for everyone to use whatever strategy they would prefer based on their own driving style, so long as each compound is used at least once during the race. If you want to pit at the end of lap one and use the above strategy, that is absolutely fine, or you could run half the race on one compound then change to the other.

Wow, you ninja'd me by seven hours!

having trouble finding the eifel generated course. is it shared? or am I not going to the right place to dl it, courses - online menu?

Man you are all hard to keep up with (in more ways than one!) But as far as colors go, I down with sky blue body/orange wheels... Just need an easy way to dupe the colors. Trying to read back into other posts. Just a limited amount of time... Thanks!

Exo. They add up quick. Just search dupe and you will find the method. If your looking at doing a lit of one or two colors. Then send what you have of the color. Reload the backup. Go send to although account. Then do it one more time. That will give you three to load in the "dupe" account. Load them. Back up the data. Send two back to your reg. Etc.
