I agree with this. If a new driver wins their division handily in the first two weeks, then they should be immediately promoted (even if mid-month). This could work the other way too, if a new driver is coming near last for two weeks, then immediately relegate.

Two weeks is 12 races, which is PLENTY of time to see if the person really belongs in the division or not.

I am not a fan of requiring a promotion, but treating it as a blinking light of "Consider me now!" Then I am fine with it. Both up or down.

How about a new racer must have his TT qualifying run observed by a steward or anyone on TEAM SNAIL. TEAM SNAIL double checks the car/tires and observes 5 timed laps, 1 out, 3 hot, 1 in. Of course we would ask that the driver have practiced before calling for a qualifying run.

I think we have 25+ guys on TEAM SNAIL so should never be an issue finding one online and ready to go.

I love this idea! And with how much time I always have I just need times to look for and I'd be fine with the managerial position of that!

I think this is a great idea and the most ideal for all involved.

the only thing is a D1 driver would need to set the base time. As arcade physics are different from online physics. I could only muster a 1:36. in arcade but run mid 1:34's online.

Yeah, definitely. Wouldn't have to happen all the time. But if the general consensus is that the person does not belon in the division then why wait?

I can tell in D3 that for the first night of SNAIL for me I was mid pack all night. But XR was 5-6s ahead typically before lap 4. I feel if you running that much faster you should be upped a division. The hole point of SNAIL as i understand is close tight competitve racing. If you are that much faster or slow where you cant maintain a similar race pace you should be moved to a better suiting division.

I believe he means have the person joining do their TT in an online room with a steward there as well to observe.

Well this sucks! The first time in 1.5 weeks I want to get on gt5 and the power goes out from a storm and a tree branch falls on a power line outside! Yay! :/

I want to follow up on this. Arcade physics and online physics are different (less so since a recent update but there is still a difference). Arcade physics are more forgiving than online and there is typically more grip available in arcade than online. This goes back to my previous question. What was the difference in how your time trial was set up? I know you can't go back and look what settings you had but something had to be off. Like I said, missing one setting or one aid can make a huge difference in lap times.

I set the time trial as per time trial instructions. I only ran ABS. Wheel settings are on simulation with Power steering assist off with force fb @ 10. I am now practicing with now ABS due to having load cell brakes.

No idea numbers. I'll be testing them in here in a few minutes. I have them all so i just have to change a tune sheet on my miata. But testing the Challenger tc first for the stamina race. I think 2.05 at GVSR is good for the elise. Havent tested the other 2.

I don't think making the time trial process more complicated is needed. If people were honest, or did it right, then it would be a non-issue. For me, the issue is when someone joins, does a janky job at the time trail, gets placed in a division they shouldnt be in, and then completely destroys everyone in the division every Sunday night until the season is over. its not a so much a matter of prizes as it is that when someone is constantly taking all three poles and winning 5 out of 6 races, and when they start first they are 5 or more seconds ahead of the pack. That is rediculous, that person has no rights being in a lower division. it only takes one night of racing to tell if someone is in the wrong division. And to be frank, when that observation is made, declared and ignored, that can be demoralizing and frustrating. to say that "Well, maybe that suck at time trials" is assinine in these cases at best. They are running 5 or more seconds ahead of 2nd place! At that point all they are doing is hot lapping. It is a time trial. I'll take it to the other end too. "Well, maybe they suck in traffic." Ok, but then they come throught he entire pack and still win, or at least podium. I'm sorry, that excuse falls flat too. That may be the case often, But this is the second season in a row that this has been the case in D3. The race is for second place, not first, since you cant touch the guy running there. Thats what I like to call "Getting Loebed." Anyone who follows rally racing will know what I mean. Bastard should have gotten into f1...

unfortunately there is only one real fix. Listen to when a director/host/scorekeeper points out a situation like this, check his stats for the night and make a solid judgement call. There is more then enough data that can be pulled, and it will be glairingly obvious when someone needs to be auto promoted.

Look at D5

Quick question: does the Roadster TC need to be broken in? I remember reading somewhere that DLC cars don't need to be broken in, but maybe I'm wrong.

Mine is sitting at 479 PP after an oil change.

I like this idea too as long as it's relatively easy for a new recruit to get someone to observe his qualifying session. The only problem I see with starting this now, as opposed to waiting for time trial we choose for GT6, is this..

Since you can only observe someone by being online with him, the physics will be different than the hundreds of time trial times that we already have data for. Therefore, it might not be worth implementing this until GT6 comes out.

I completely agree. In my opinion I think it would be best to take a couple weeks to get used to the new physics, keeping the division placements the way they are. Then once everyone has been acclimated to the new physics we redo the time trials starting with the fastest D1 guys and moving down the list to get a accurate placement for all drivers.

Does anyone have a purple racing suit and/or helmet that you can give me? I seem to have every color except purple. If you want something in return (suits; cars; paint) I'd be more than happy to trade. :)
