Also, is it just me or do the side indicators only flash when a car is really close to you? I was on the opposite side of the track but even with another car and no indicator flashed.
It's not just you.

07: Corner Rights:JLBowler has already provided a general rule and expected behavior but, just so your certain about the rules, check out Section 7 in the SNAILOLR.
07: Corner Rights:
A:When approaching the turn/apex of turn, the car which "holds" the inner side of turn has entrance-advantage and other driver(s) must refrain from endangering him by his actions.
Isn't this a SNAIL requirement? I read that in some text either in the OLR or instructions sent to me in one of the instructional PMs.

However, when I try to use those Left/Right buttons that I have set up ......... I must spend too much time watching (a brief glimpse doesn't reveal the edge of the front bumper that is moving ever so slightly into the view). Sooooo, I depend on the blind spotters to just inform me - then I make room regardless of where they might be.
With no peripheral vision (all windows in the car are covered with black except the windshield - imagine driving a real car that way?) ....... anyway, without the Map Enlargement we are at a definite handicap in tight races.
Thank you, Sir Dragon, for the encouragement to "commit to use" the side buttons. Will make every attempt to develop that skill, starting at practice tonight.
Notice to all drivers around a white car:
Watch out for me to miss the next brake point for a while ....... I usually miss the following corner when I have tried the side button view previously.
Am being sincere, not sarcastic at all.
@TEX36 , Something else you, and others, might try to get used to this view method is, jump in one of the longer Aspec races and instead of trying to beat the AI, get in a crowd of them and practice view swapping. It might be better than trying to get comfortable with it when racing against other humans, or aliens.
While driving a car, checking the blind spot still provides peripheral vision to the front. In my "blacked out race cars" there is no periphery when I "flick the side view".srsly now.... Who doesn't have a driving license here? flicking that left/right view button on your steering wheel is just like that glimpse of your blind spot how hard can that be .....
Hope I can "stay in" for sure. Working the SCCA Rose Cup Races at Portland International Raceway this weekend so won't have any time to try from Friday morning until Sunday night..

I race with the blind spot indicators off but then again that's why I race in 3rd person view. So I can see all 4 corners of my car and anyone close to me.
On a personal note, I've gotten so frustrated with this round. I've red lapped so many sub 2:18's, and I'm sitting at 2:19.05x. Not that I'd every make the finals, but I wanted to get a sub 2:18.5x. Oh well. Congrats to those doing well. A few more stressful days for those on the bubble....
