QUESTION:
Is there a written rule about not using mics during the race, or is it a unwritten rule?

There was someone complaining about having to mute there mic during the race. I have always done it because I was told to when I started snail. I looked through the rules, and could not find a rule about it. I am all for the rule, but just wanted to know where the rule came from.
@zer05ive - @JLBowler - @CoachMK21
I think that it's not a written rule because there shouldn't be any talking during the races and the only reason why there could be a reason to talk is to say sorry for crashing into someone. Also some people use the DFGT wheel which you can hear through the mic while driving. So it's basically a courtesy thing.

Mic's should be set to of and we should all be required to get a USB keyboad. You can find any cheap one for a few bucks. Plugs right into the PS3 and now you can type a full sentence instead of navigating a keypad one letter at a time.

I disagree it make communicating with other in setting the room and making sure everyone one can see each other.

Mics allow for easier communication in between races. It is a courtesy for everyone to me their miss because of distractions.

As far as mics go, it really winds down to etiquette. It is crap etiquette to have your mic unmuted while racing. It is crap etiquette to belch in the mic (pet peeve of mine. I will tear you a new one for it, and we had a few belchers in D3, cant stand that inconsiderate, nasty rude act.) It is crap etiquette to have a conversation with your friend, spouse, child while you are racing. it is crap etiquette to let over your mic your dog barking at the wind/squirrel, whatever. What is good etiquette is to be considerate of the fact that you are racing with others, that are trying to focus on the race and not what Joe blow is jamming to at their house. Mute your mics for a race. if you cant mute your mic, don't use it. If you cant keep yourself from running your mouth while racing, don't use a mic. In the middle of a race is not the time to cuss someone out that may have knocked you off the track. However, mics do have their moments. Mostly for pre race coordination. That is about it. banter between races should be kept to a minimum. And yes, when rooms are near capacity, mics should be turned off to preserve bandwidth across all in the room. .

In an effort to get a little more comfortable while racing with you maniacs I took a ride to my local junk yard and picked up this little beauty for a song. . . . $40!!!

Now here's my problem... does anyone know how one would go about getting all the power functions to work as if this thing was bolted in a car???

Here are some shots of the controls and the underside.

Other kind of important thing to mention is that this does have side airbags and I'm not really in the mood to have it go off while trying to rewire this thing!

I know that having all the power function complicates my project quite a bit but I couldn't pass up the deal!

HELP!!! :boggled: :boggled: :boggled: :boggled: :boggled:

Room director must notice who's screwing up with the mic, inform the person of the problem and tell him/her to fix it. If it doesn't get fixed then room director takes proper measures.
For proper measures, I propose that if someone is alerted for a microphone problem and it doesn't get fixed, room director should be authorized to kick person off the room.

@nmcp1
Well it's obviously from a 12v system so you will need a 12v power source.

I'd get a car battery for testing. Get some wire pokers. T style straight pins work best. Then start testing wires. Obviously black is ground. Then put hot to a red color first. If that makes it work. Then your set.

Crude method. I assume the motors have a socket or something for hand cranking. Maybe not.

If you want to adjust it on the fly and not use a battery in the house. I would not want to unless it was a dry cell of sorts. Obtain a AC/DC converter. There is a way to make a PC power supply work. Check with in the RC community for a how too. Or buy a higher wattage version as they can handle the amp loads.

Also you may find a schematic labeling the wires online too.

Agree with most of the above, it should be common etiquette to mute mics during a race. And for all you belchers out there, you can at least name the burp if you're going to share it with all of us. Most of mine are named DogfishHead IPA :)

I will add to Rallys' very good explanation of mic etiquette by saying, there is no time during Sunday racing for cussing anyone out, about anything. In the event you think to do this, leave the room. If reports of this behavior come to the attention of league management, you will be sanctioned.

There is more than one rule covering annoying behavior in the SNAIL OLR. I challenge everyone to go find them.

LUCK IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!!

I just turned a total of 8.08.06 and lost by 3 GD seconds!!! To a damn Zonda C12 S....
🤬:irked:
I think it has more to do with the Rubber band AI than luck.

I tried it with a Viper GTS..I did a 6:50.401 Lap/7:47.717 Total.The AI Zonda C12S still managed a 7:50.357.:scared:

Driving my client's SLS AMG Black Series yesterday, don't mind the little mishap at turn 5, shouldn't have downshifted near the apex, the gaming got to me... reality vs. virtual lol ...
It was my only lap in the car, did an outlap, this full lap and then in-lap. Hell of a ride.

That's one thing that you, Americans, have and its really awesome... USA is a country that loves engine power and racing and you guys have race tracks and open race events almost around the corner. Here in Toronto, the closest decent race track is about 100kms away, helds 3 or 4 open to all events that costs a fortune to go and if you make a good effort and go there probably be no one there to give you an entertaining battle for 3 or 4 laps.
In Portugal... Even worst. The only race track we can afford its called public road and has a small problem.... Cops!

Let me add to this.... even if it's only practice sessions.......it's even crappier etiquette to discuss your sex life and how many times you get laid while on your last business trip. It's even crappier etiquette to discuss how many women's underwear you found in your truck after the last weekend....it's even crappier etiquette to discuss which medication to take for STD's... all this while other people try to race..... I didn't say anything to the particular individual...I just left the room and opened up my own practice room

Just stopping in to say hey guys! Hope Sunday nights are still enjoyable as always. My son will be born here in about two more weeks and my GT time will be even more limited than it already is! Booted up the game today and had so many updates to download lol don't think I've had it on since August I believe.

Took me almost six years from "I'm pregnant" to playing again. About this time last year, I fired up my old PS2 for my 5 yr. old. Then I decided "he needed" a PS3 and a racing rig. It's been a slippery slope. Good luck with the new baby! Worth every minute!

Just returned from the State Fair. It was awesome and one of the huge highlights for me was driving on the Dodge Charger Simulator (featuring a real 2015 Dodge Charger). That was the most nervous I've been (more so then the speech Homework I had to do earlier in the week), but I managed to win. My Family went nuts when I crossed the line in 1st (including my little sister who was riding shotgun with me), that in itself was worth it :D

Does it have a seat warmer? The seat I have now does, and my next one definitely will.

My guess is that it does, and while it would be a nice perk it's not really necessary. I basically stripped out the bulk of the non-essential wiring and paired everything down to just the motors. Hooked up some jumper cables from my car to the 2 remaining wires and the seat worked like a charm!

Hi I'd like to join I see you have make many fast from Gt Academy. I cannot race tomorrow but I would like to join for future.

@Pro Laps

Here's your official S.N.A.I.L. Welcome Post!

Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the S.N.A.I.L. OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide.
Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You take the S.N.A.I.L. OLR and Racecraft Test

2. You run the Time Trial and submit your information by 23:59 EST on Saturday night if you want to race this Sunday.

3. @JLBowler PM's you with your assigned Division that we feel will give you the closest competition. You will be added to the drivers list.

4. Send a PSN friend request to the Race Director or Primary Host from your assigned SNAIL Division. Sunday night you will need to sort the online lobbies by friends and join the lobby named 'snailracing.org Division_(x) based off your Division placement from JLBowler. That lobby will be where you race Sunday.

5. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below. Now if you've actually read this, post a :dunce: in this thread.

6. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread.
If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to S.N.A.I.L. :cheers:
