The community feature is intriguing. It seems like it will add a dynamic new element to SNAIL!
Wow, I had almost forgotten about the promised community feature. It's been so long!

I'll check it out asap, but won't be until tomorrow night at the earliest. Feel free to summarize the highlights! :D

Server is undergoing maintenance at the time, so hopefully tomorrow we'll have a good idea of what sort of features are there. We should probably assume club creation will be done by either @zer05ive or another SNAIL leader.

This is a totally random thought I just had, that made me feel like a little kid. I thought I would share.

I was 14 when the RX-8 came out.

Something about that statement just seems wrong! lol.

If it makes you feel any better I was at the ripe old age of 5 years... Yikes!:yuck:

The new Subaru Vision GT car has this weird thing it likes, if you use just the right amount of throttle you can roll off the brakes sooner than you think and use the throttle to pull the front of the car through the corner... but do too much and you get awful power-induced understeer. It's got a crazy amount of torque so you have to be careful. There is a lot of time to be gained by getting on partial throttle early though, it seems.

So I have some good news for snails I took 1st place at the gt6/Chevy competion got pictures of

I like the idea too! We've had a lot of SNAIL events in the past (and have had even more proposed events), but I think this is the first time that anyone's suggested a touring car event. It's an especially catchy suggestion to me since "Touring Car Tuesday" definitely rolls off the tongue. :D

And yeah, if it's anything like Wednesday's Race Car Series, then we'd be in for a real treat. Everyone please reply to this post if you'd be interested in a Tuesday Touring Car Series (so that we can gauge interest).

Or if you have another idea for a Tuesday night event, then post that too! The idea that gets the most interest, wins. :)
I would be interested!

The Race around Rome with the Fast Datsun will be 9 laps. That will give us a race time of 10 min 57 seconds.
Qually will be 6 minutes. That will give 4 laps with 42 seconds to spare.

Just a heads-up I'm traveling home today so my next post will be very late this afternoon / early evening. Hope by then we will have all the combo's so I can post the complete roster.

Made a funny mount for my wheel lol ... looks a bit harsh but its only the first "prototype"
As i didnt have right materials in house ... if i raise it a bit the two original buttons will also be reachable again as there is just enough room to raise it.
Kinda sucks that the apps like these dont work with GT ... but im already loving it on assetto corsa.

What does the app do ?

What does the app do ?

Its a fully customizable "dash"with up to 5 "screens"it can show any i formation the game sens out ... shifting lights, gears, speed, brake information like time on brakes or distance and temperature ... tire pressure and dirt indicator ... fuel calculations like how much on right now ... how much u use this laps how much u used previous lap how much you need to complete race ... timing ...live delta time ... sector deltas ... it can basicly do everything ...
It can even show live telemetry curves to compare woth previous lap or best lap so you know exactly where you mess up while still on track.
you tell the app what to show and you can place everything where yph want you can also use any color combination etc ... its really well done ... its called dashmeterpro and i use it on my note 1 wich was just laying around collecting duat anyways since my main phone is a note 3
Also compatible with project cars but im only using it for assetto corsa because i dont have projectcars yet

I see your point, but were the different sims you referred to on the same platform or different platforms? The reason I ask is because I don't know if having an option on a different platform would necessarily cause a splinter per se. For example, before GT6 was launched, there was a lot of speculation on whether it would be a PS3 title or a PS4 title. Back then, I openly hoped that it would be a PS3 title because it would be bad for SNAIL if it was a PS4 title. That's because our members would have to buy a new (and expensive) console in order to enjoy the latest and greatest version of Gran Turismo. Obviously some would do exactly that, but many wouldn't - thus splitting the league. Thankfully, GT6 is a PS3 game so crisis was averted.

That being said, SNAIL will eventually have to deal with the transition to the PS4. There's simply no getting around the fact that GT7 will be a PS4 title. My only hope is that by the time GT7 launches, the PS4 isn't considered a "want to have" console, but as a "need to have" console. And that definitely seems like it could happen since all indications are the Sony have won (or at least have a sizable lead in) the latest console war. Obviously, the more of us that have a PS4 (or are willing to go buy it) when GT7 is released, the easier our transition to GT7 will be. 👍

Speaking of GRID, we actually did have a brief experiment with GRID 2. However, I think the reason it didn't really last long was because everyone who owned GRID 2 already owned GT5 as well. And given the fact that everyone else was still playing GT5, there wasn't a long-lasting desire to play GRID 2. However, Project CARS might be a different story. There could be plenty of people who buy Project CARS for their PS4's in the spring that don't have GT6 or even a PS3 for that matter.

And perhaps that's where my underlying concern is. What is Project CARS is so awesome that it blows anything that GT7 will offer out of the water. The previews and hype around this title are stellar, which is why it interests me (notice I'm not suggesting tat we have a Drive Club league ;)) In a nutshell, I'm not interested in having a SNAIL event for every sim under the sun, but the appetite for a quality sim (Project CARS) on the premier next-gen console (PS4) might be something that changes the game in a way that results in our beloved Gran Turismo franchise no longer being the king of console-based racing sims. :boggled:

This is a great discussion. I'm up for the idea of expanding onto other products. After all, real drivers switch cars, series, teams, think of Marcus Ambrose and his stint with NASCAR. If its got wheels, we should be racing it. Good clean discussion here.
