Ha, Vadim Kogay. There is a reason that some gentlemen drivers are suspect. Dude could barely keep the car on track.

The 4 areas at the 2 chicanes have changes in surface outside the white line. Exceptions were allowed to consider that change in surface to be included as "track" and precluded the white line boundary around the change in surface, with a proviso that no part of a car could touch the next change in surface, which was grass. Had we not allowed that loosening of the track boundary, not one driver would have escaped being penalized for OOB violations during racing on January 11th this year.

I think the same drivers who were not penalized the first time around would have adjusted their lines to stay within the rules had the rules stated that those painted areas were off limits. There were not many of those drivers but i can speak for myself on this one.

True.

lol no I know it's Eau Rouge I just like orange better

I don't even want to know how you say "Eau Rouge" that it sounds like orange, unless you say orange with a french accent. But then you would know how to say Eau Rouge correctly and now I'm confused.

He obviously had enough money. In a lot of cases, money can take you further than your talent level in racing.

The story I heard was that he wrote the check the day before the race and did little to no testing.

I remember watching Vadim Kogay in that race. I couldn't believe it. Unfortunately, he was involved in a very scary crash later in the season at Spa.

Also, later on after the end of that video, the team said his English wasn't good enough for an interview, haha. I don't k ow how that team let him back in that car after that.

It astonishes me how some come to post within a discussion board that others' should discontinue THEIR discussions.

I understand that not everybody enjoys a debate, but if you don't like it, then stay out of it. If it's still going on tomorrow... stay out of it. Some of us enjoy ALL aspects of this community, not just the chocolate and cotton candy (and bacon) side of it.

Agreed, conversations with different points of view are far more interesting to read. This conversation actually made valid points on both sides, which is all the better.

It's my opinion that whatever the rules are, competitors will to rise to the occasion. Those who practice the most will reap the rewards within any set of boundaries or rules. As long as the playing field is level, it's fair.

Sorry, but I can't let this picture pass without posting a link to one of my favorite posts of all time. For any new Snails, do yourself a favor and go read @diabolicwyvern's classic post from more than three years ago. I still can't read it without laughing.

EDIT:

Not true! Long live Rusty!! :sly:

I think it's that they have had enough of there phone's blowing up do to a... well quite pointless discussion about what is in and isn't inbounds. As none of us really make any of the decisions.

How ever the powers that be do watch the thread and knowing how analytical Dragon is he's watching the thread with his usual mind and may bring up some of the point discussed in our "pointless conversation" with the rest of the powers that be

Thanks for the compliment. I've seen nothing yet about track boundaries that indicates changes in the rules are needed.

Analyzing this salami, cheese, onion and tomato sammich pretty hard core though.
