So whats the Tuesday debate going to be this week... I think it should be "Why NASCAR is better then F1"

I really don't see much of a difference to base a debate on, even the cars are the same.

oh yeah there identical! How anyone can tell the difference is beyond me!:lol::D:sly:

Well.. Nascar is much better because they don't race in the rain! The spectators can get wet.. but not the cars. They throw Yellow Cautions 2 laps before the end of the race because there was a paper clip on race track when the pilot is not one of 'their' favorites; so that one of those favorites can actually win.

F1 is dull. Nobody overtakes, and the same bloke wins every week. It's hideously expensive. The cars are ugly. And the rules? No idea. And yet, each year, the cars and drivers are shipped, trucked or flown to 19-ish countries, where up to 300,000 people watch them race from moored yachts or muddy fields. The whole business makes about $1.5 billion per year. And around the world, nearly half a billion people watch at least 15 minutes of racing at some point during the season.

In NASCAR, if it ain't rubbin', it ain't racin'. Drivers bully through a vast swarm, and if you start at the back, you might still finish first. Try doing that in F1, and you'll be picking carbon splinters from your face. In NASCAR, telemetry is banned, and where F1 has laptops, NASCAR has hammers and spanners. An F1 driver can tune his car on the go. Once up and running in a stock car, the only thing you can adjust is your attitude. But if you think that sounds easy, you try setting up a car for a 200mph lap of a steeply banked oval. During a race, a NASCAR's chassis is literally bent by the centrifugal force of orbit.

Personally? Warming your tires with electric blankies, and shifting your car with a button on the steering wheel and not involving a clutch is not racing. It's making a vehicle go fast. There's a difference.

NASCAR = > 13,000 miles
F1 = < 4,000 miles

yes full of sarcasm. I still watch it and enjoy it. But I rather watch IMSA or FIA races than Nascar. Nascar is like the WWE of racing. Fun to watch... but... racing? hmmmmm when they start driving in the rain maybe.

Even Indy drives in the rain .. Goodyear has not heard yet of rain tires I suppose...

They tried rain tires on nascar well the busch series, and it was so boring! Due to the balance of a stock car they couldn't go!

They both entertain the audience they are generally designed to. Neither are perfect. Both bring me enjoyment and frustration. That is all I have on this topic.
But NASCAR was designed to entertain. F1 was designed to "show off" the characteristics of the car with out the audience in mind. Which is why F1 is trying to imitate NASCAR when it comes to the entertainment value. from what I heard there even trying to make the drivers more accessible to the crowd! Hamilton even WAVED to the crowd this weekend before the race! even more surprising with a smile on his face!! the commentator made such a big deal about it lol

Sorry Birdy, but this is the most absurd argument I've ever read in this thread.

Sure - and I'm not a NASCAR fan, I prefer the BTCC when I can catch it. They even play with ballast and a mildly random third grid (a somewhat cheesy lottery style number pull for guys who were in the 6-10 place get pole position on the final event)

For me personally, if there is an element of surprise only if one team doesn't win, or the margin of victory is not the same beatdown as normal, it's not as exciting for me. In NASCAR, there is certainly the element of "any given Sunday" to the proceedings. Is anyone really expecting a Sauber/McLaren/Lotus podium trifecta on any week? Or even any of these teams contending?

I guess the excitement in F1 can be the over/under bet on what lap Pastor Maldonado does his thing...

Ok here's the best comparison I could come up with for NASCAR & F1

NASCAR- she is a 6.5-7 at most. She'll ride you all night long have a cig with you after and cook you breakfast in the morning. Will you tell your friends, sure but only if the subject comes up.

F1- she is a definite 10 but comes with a lot of BS rules. You gotta have deep pockets to lay this one and if you are successful at getting it youll be saddened by how little she does to please you. But you wont be ashamed to tell you friends.

And based on this weekend, how many times he does his thing!
