In the mean time, while we wait for the Prize B and C issue to be resolved, here is what we have. If my memory serves me right then most of us will break through the 2 minute mark to complete a lap. So, it should be 6 laps. The car has just enough oversteer under lift-off to turn in nicely. It is slightly powerful for the CS tires, but I'm sure it will be a nice combo once you get the hang of it.

The PP is 406 after the oil change.

I've come to absolutely love Monday Night Miatas. Absolutely zero prep before entering the room and still comfortable to be racy when we begin. The boost works perfectly to do its part, but passing is still on you. Interesting that must of us tend to end up "racing" those we expect to, if that makes sense; so that really showcases that boost isn't completely fabricated competition. The winners are always deserving of their trophies.

What is it that you Mount Panorama haters dislike so much? None of the dissidents ever mention what it is!
Is it something other than a connection issue. I have never seen anything out of the ordinary at the track.
Just curious.

Tires are based on Dealership PP. I'm not competely certain if that's what you were pointing out WIdE, but I thought I'd clarify just in case.

I'm curious too. Im impartial to it really. It's kind of narrow much of the time, but it widens out in the prime passing zones.

There are minor framerate issues over the top of the mountain at times. I've seen it, but it hasn't caused any problems, and it didn't happen at all on Sunday. I didn't hear any complaints from anyone in D2 during the racing.

It is narrow over the mountain, but a prime spot to take advantage of someone's mistake, if you can pounce on it fast enough. The door isn't open for long up there. The prime passing areas are great too.

One thing I did notice was the number of people miscalculating the change in the braking zone at the bottom of the hill going into The Chase. The draft isn't strong, but enough to make you pull your brake marker back 25m going down there.

I would like to try this out

@Bluemoon29Car

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @Dragonwhisky, @JLBowler, @nmcp1 & @zer05ive as participants. The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing club. Sunday races are organized exclusively through the GT6 Community features within the game.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

I've never noticed this framerate issue. What does it look like?

Funny thing about that braking zone, I never found (looked for) a good marker. I didn't put in a tone of time this week so I was doing it purely on instinct after the kink. I was probably a bit conservative all night.

The framerate seems to be random for me. It just looks like the display doesn't update as quickly, as if the system is trying to load tons of things at once, but it's not severe.

For the braking zone, I use the writing on the black wall to the right. It's worked consistently for me.

GTAcademy 2015, another year, another top 30 performance ruined by age restrictions

Aw grow up will you !
NASCAR can race in the rain only in road courses SONOMA AND WATKINS GLEN. BUT TWICE A YEAR WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF RAIN THOSE WEEKENDS. :banghead:
Yes they can use rain tires...BUT THEY DON'T. I've sat there (the Glen) in the rain and the "Little Kittys" stay in the pits.
Seriously I have been watching F1 since October 1966 and it is a mere shadow of its former self. NASCAR is AWESOME in person...hell there is something going on EVERYWHERE...but it is deadly boring on the TUBE. My allegiance has shifted to Sports Cars gradually over the years as F1 became a financial race. PWC. Tudor, Blan Pain, WEC, VLN...Trans-Am,.....and even Indy Car get my vote.(AND they are all on TV now....even with three recorders I have to miss something every week.)
SambaBus at Daytona oval. It would be slooooow but interesting. Throw the OLR out the window and make it a full contact race. Buds and booze are on me. Lol.

On a semi serious note, gotta tell you all about the fun in the Monday night Pack racing. League racing is fun but stressful sometimes and that's ok. Pack racing is all about the fun...no score...no pressure. Nose to tail and door to door racing from start to finish. Want to learn how to drive in constant traffic at full speed for a full race. This is the place for you. Send a FR to Nail27. Don't let the boost scare you away, it only allows you to catch the back of the last car and the leader cannot pull away into an insurmountable lead.

Don't knock it till you try it. Thanks to Nail27 for putting it together and thanks to RacingChamp for his awesome hosting.

We arrived at utilizing the DREADED BOOST when ballast and tires did not keep the FAST guys from abusing the slower guys to the point of embarrassment. We got an email from Coach to try boost which he mentioned had been changed drastically from GT5. The further you are on the track from the leader the stronger the boost....which very subtly decreases to nada the further up you get. If you are 12 seconds back because you fell off....hold onto your hat....you will be back at the ass end of the pack in a couple of easy laps (DO NOT try to run hard like you do on Sunday night to catch the pack after you have had an off because you increase your speed by getting closer to "the edge" and this will put you "Over the Edge" because the boost insidiously speeds you up (you can't feel it) and lengthens braking points...thus you "out brake yourself.(often!)
Euclid, who hasn't raced all that much with us, found that out the hard way last night, but the minute he relaxed the Boost taxied him right up to the back of the pack where his natural ability allowed him to pass and move up to the Aliens up front...one of whom is the CHILD from British Columbia (man I wish I had one tenth of his skill level....but it might be slightly due to his Dad's business.....preparing , racing, and renting Formula Vees.)

And we do not keep score...that removes the EGO NUTS from the equation. We have about 10 to 12 regulars who just enjoy the hell out of VERY TIGHT RACING....and I personally am one hell of a lot better wheel to wheel than before I started this mess. In another league during our parity races I am confidently mixing it up with guys who in this league would be classified as SNAILIENS .

The entire idea behind the Pack Racing idea was to have a place for NEW GUYS to get wheel to wheel in a user friendly environment where laughter and banter replaced the OH $hit ambiance of VERY SERIOUS RACING. The racing is no different, the rules are the same (we don't bother qualifying any more....you start where you start :scared:) but if you screw the pooch you just get up, brush off the kitty litter and try it again, and again, and again. Every time I get to the lead....I fall off.....laughing.

Now....send me a FR and come give it a try....it's fun and educational. PS we have, upon occasion, run two rooms and will do so if there is one guy too many.

And...its so much fun to hear Lobban Mike chuckle (it means he did something good or bad....you figure it out) that you split a gut and FALL OFF (it is very difficult to race and laugh so hard that tears are blocking your vision)....not to worry the.... BOOST IS ON. The transmission from the back of the pack is always....I'M BACK !!!

but, wow , so many spectators, epic

I think Bristol seats around 160,000 these days and although it did not always seat that many, it was a sellout for 55 straight races (2races/yr.) It's not the hot commodity it used to be and even this "new" fan of 10 or so years prefers the old configuration, I still have it on my list.

Supersport MK2 - Willow Springs.
OK I was being picky.... if both of you will send me your SNAIL MAIL I will send BOTH of you a program (well you see... in the Caddy VIP Enclosure for the St. Pete races they had this pile of leftover programs so being a crass opportunist I snagged a half dozen). Here is the info.

The car was a real show stopper in the PWC paddock... as many of us crowded around the car going WTF is it? (it sorta looked like a Loti...but it was not). At that time there was no propaganda on it so I made a point of going back the next day and chatting up the mechanic of the Aston that it was pitted with. It seems that this car...the Super Sports Mk 2 was designed in the High Desert at Rosamond California at Willow Springs. The rolling chassis is made in Bangkok and then the assembly with US engine and garden variety (inexpensive) bits and painting and or wrapping takes place at Willow. The brochure, which I pried out of the guy (he explained that the SCCA has SORT of approved it to run but didn't want it in the paddock...politics...as they want to have a spec class and the SCCA has TOO many classes already) is posted below with all the pertinent info. It is patterned to run with the Porsche GT Cup cars for about a third of the price. I believe that fully race prepared FOB Rosamond, Ca.(Willow Springs) it is 110K. It IS NOT a kit car. It is a purpose built race car...the driving position is centered in the cockpit (my 68 year old body made it into the cockpit easily....getting out was....errr...more time consuming)and everything is right at hand. In the days of a Porsche or like car costing 350K untuned and just off the boat this is a bargain. It will be in the PWC paddock at all races where the GTS class participates.

The brochure was saved as a pdf which won't upload apparently so here is the link for the US web page.....enjoy...my rich friend from FL appears to have had the SS Mk2 bait in his mouth comfortably for three weeks...if I just set the hook....

Good luck to all the insanely fast SNAILS that will compete for the top.
We'll all be rooting for you, at least I will...
Last years GTA got me from controller to wheel (2nd or 3rd round) and ultimately to SNAIL in Sept. I'm in no way even close to being fast enough to qualify for NYC finals but I'm eager to see how I measure up against last years personal results. I too will be in full support of our fastest SNAILS

I think even if I were able to be "fast" with a wheel, simply being in my mid-thirties is a turn-off. Politics and reasonable return on investment will certainly come into play at some point I'm sure.

I'm 26 but I'm sure I wouldn't be fast enough. I'd love to and I really want to get into real world racing but it's probably not gonna happen that way.

That's why I want to get into karting. Easily the most inexpensive way to get real side by side racing action. With the growing popularity of LO206 it's even more reasonable for the average Joe.

You did attach a PDF; it's in a box frame directly below the text in your post. I downloaded it and at that time three others had already viewed it.

GT Academy 2015... This has always been fun for me. It is cool to watch this community come alive with GTA fever.

2015 GT Academy
SNAILRACING.ORG Edition

Now we know the 2015 GT Academy will start next Tuesday, April 21st! This means that many of our fellow racers will be battling for a spot to NYC and a select few will earn the right to travel to Silverstone. Last year, we were fortunate enough to have 6 Snails make it to Silverstone. How many can make it this year? Will one of us become the 2015 GT Academy Champion?

To see how your fellow Snails performed last year, here is the 2014 SNAIL Rankings. Similarly, I will be tracking your 2015 efforts. However, I cannot do that without your help. As you set a personal best for a given round, take a moment and update your time via the submission form. The rankings will be updated daily by me.

Both the submission form and rankings can be found in my signature. They will remain there from now until the GT Academy is over. Good luck to everyone!

Hey there racers. I am interested in joining the Snail Racing organization and getting to know the people and policies that keep it strong.

I was in a Quick Match recently for Mount Panorama and I messaged a racer commenting on his respect for others racing line, and he pretty much read my mind with a very similar complementary reply.

After reading what the group is about and how you maintain things I was interested in seeing what else I can do to try and join in on the action and the fun. I will keep an eye on the thread as it recommends. Until then, this is Michael Clancy, PSN: The_Embalmer

I look forward to meeting more racers. Till then have fun guys.

Welcome to SNAIL
From our humble beginnings, SNAIL is now the largest console-based sim racing league in the world. Our mission is to provide our members with the cleanest and most competitive racing experience possible. No matter what your skill level is, we will provide you with a full grid of similarly-skilled drivers to compete against. This produces the closest racing possible, and is best way to improve your skill and refine your racecraft! Our league night is Sunday at 9:30pm Eastern / 6:30pm Pacific, but we also have a a wide variety of other events held on other nights of the week as well. If this sounds like something you'd like to be a part of, please keep reading to learn more about us and how to join.

What Makes Us Different
There are five key features of SNAIL that you won't find elsewhere. First of all, we provide you with evenly-matched competition regardless of your skill level. In fact, the intense level of competition that we produce has established SNAIL as the ideal place to prepare for GT Academy. And if you want to keep track of your improvement along the way, you'll be glad to know that we keep the most comprehensive race data available on GTPlanet. We also feature an interactive process that allows all of our members to have a say in which cars and tracks we race. And last but not least, we're the only league that awards our members with valuable prizes just for racing with us!!

Evenly-Matched Competition
Have you ever watched a professional race where drivers with completely different skill levels were competing on the same track? Of course not! That wouldn't be fun to watch, let alone fun to participate in. Unfortunately, that disparity of pace is something you'll often find in organized online racing. When this happens, you'll be lucky to have just a few drivers that you're truly competitive with. Everyone else will usually either be faster or slower than you. We prevent that from happening in SNAIL by dividing our drivers into separate divisions based on speed and skill. This results in full grids of evenly-matched competition and creates the closest and most intense sim racing experience around!

Prepare for GT Academy
If you'd like to compete in GT Academy, there's no better place than SNAIL to hone your skills to the elite levels necessary to make it to the finals. You need to be the best of the best to make it to Silverstone, and that's exactly what the drivers in our top division are. Half of last year's and half of this year's Silverstone Finalists have raced in SNAIL. And since our race format (which features multiple sprint races) is almost identical to the format used at the GT Academy national finals, they were able to use their SNAIL experience to help them advance to Silverstone. Click here if you want to advice from last year's eventual champion and click here if you want advice from last year's runner-up.

Valuable Prizes
Have you ever wished you could win free stuff just for having fun? If so, then you might want to know that our members win valuable real-world prizes just for racing with us! These prize are based on participation and not on race results. Some examples of prizes our members have won include a GranStand Cockpit, a ButtKicker Gamer2, a GranStand Wheel Stand, and a Wireless ButtKicker Kit. You can also join Team SNAIL and earn even more prizes, such as shirts (e.g. S.N.A.I.L. shirt, F1 shirt, GT Academy shirt), video capture devices (e.g. Hauppauge PVR), sim racing equipment (e.g. Playseat Evolution), and even gift cards (e.g. Amazon and PSN).

Spec Racing
SNAIL was the first GTPlanet league to prohibit tuning in all of our races. This combined with the fact that we race in the same cars produces a type of racing called "spec" racing. Spec racing ensures that success is determined solely by driving skill and not by differences in car power, gearing, suspension, weight, or aerodynamics. Because variables in the car are eliminated, spec racing is the truest measure of driver skill! It also produces intense battles for position because all of the cars are equally strong or weak in the same areas of the track. Another benefit of spec racing is that you'll never spend time tuning cars or wondering if someone is truly faster than you or if they just have a better tune.

Race Format
Our league night lasts for two hours and is split into three rounds. Each round consists of two races that last 10 to 12 minutes on a predetermined car and track combo. At the beginning of each round, a brief qualifying session determines the order of the starting grid. The first race is set to 'Fastest First' to reward the best qualifiers and the second race is set to 'Reverse Grid' in order to promote on-track action. Points are awarded based on our "perfect" points system. After a round is completed, we move on to the next round and repeat the same process with the next car and track combination. Once all three rounds are complete, we tally up the points and then let our interactive format kick in.

Interactive Process
Our unique format allows everyone to have a say on which cars and tracks we race. It is also used to strike a balance between familiarity and variety of cars and tracks. In other words, the progression of cars and tracks that we race is slow enough for us to learn them well, but fast enough that they don't get "old". At the end of every league night, we ask everyone to vote on which car and track combo they enjoyed the least. The combo that receives the most "elimination votes" is dropped from the next week's lineup entirely. The combo that receives the second most votes is also dropped, but only partially. This is where our prizes play an important role in our interactive format.

Prizes
A prize is awarded to the divisions winners with the three highest scores*. The division winner with the highest score gets Prize A. The division winner with the second highest score gets Prize B. The division winner with the third highest score gets Prize C: (NOTE: We now have a new process for breaking ties in the elimination vote)
Prize A: The right to select the new car and track combo to replace the combo that was voted off
Prize B: The right to replace either the car or the track of the combo that received the second most votes
Prize C: The right to "freeze" either the car or the track of the combo that received the second most votes

Promotion and Relegation
Although we split our drivers into separate divisions based on performance and skill level, we realize that our drivers are constantly improving and deserve a chance to climb the ladder of success. That's why we promote and relegate drivers before every season based on the results and data compiled during the previous season. This is also done to ensure that our races are as competitive as possible for all of our league members, top to bottom. Regardless of which division you're in, you will almost always be fighting to gain or defend a position on the track. Simply put, no other Gran Turismo league in the world can offer this much competitive racing to so many different skill levels.

Comprehensive Race Data
It's not always accurate to promote and relegate drivers based on championship points alone. That's why the massive amounts of data we track are invaluable to our league. You'd be hard-pressed to find a sim racing league anywhere in the world that tracks driver data and race results more comprehensively than we do. In fact, our SNAIL Data document contains so much information that we have to archive old data to avoid exceeding the GoogleDoc's maximum capacity! You can use this data to track the points championship for each season and compare yourself to other drivers in categories such as fast laps, total race pace, total points, average points per race, and power rankings.

Rules
We expect all drivers to follow our OLR Rules and pursue good racecraft at all times. If you're not sure what good racecraft is, watch this video. It can be summed up in one simple 'Golden Rule' of motorsports: It is the responsibility of the overtaking driver, meaning the car that is attempting to execute the pass, to make sure that the pass is made cleanly and incident free. If you don't agree with this rule or don't think it applies to you, this is not the league for you. If you ever feel like a driver is not following the rules, please wait until league night is over, then file a Racing Incident Report. Our Stewards will review the incident and issue the appropriate penalties.
