Nismo does the virtual-to-reality schtick with which platforms? What other sim racing platforms have similar 'gets you close to reality' claims? It is not a scientific measure, but something of a reality/investment measure.

I agree on the G27+PS4 issue. I don't have a PS4 (yet), but if I have to get a PS4 and a wheel, I may look elsewhere. On the other hand, I am considering selling my G27 and upgrading as @JLBowler did awhile back, and then I can choose to rationalize my wheel upgrade over time, I suppose.

Throughout all the debates involving PS4 and wheels, I've read many quite selfish interpretations of the word monopoly. Selfish in that people are so miffed by the fact they cannot use their current peripherals, so they see the situation is that THEY are being taken advantage of. In my opinion, this is simply ridiculous and honestly very self-centered. Sony could make it so the DFGT was the only wheel that was compatible and box it all together with the game and it still wouldn't be a monopoly. Their are options people!... and they are offered by other companies. The fact is, the system is their product and they have rights too. Sony has legal rights to run their business however they want as long as they do not infringe on the consumers' legal rights; and consumers do not have a right to have their cake and eat it too! If you want to play, you need to pay! If you don't want to pay, you have the right to shop else-ware. If ya'll want to lobby, sign petitions, hell even boycott a company; fine! Do it! You have a right to do so. But if after all that Sony still says no, your just SOL. Sorry, but companies have rights too.

We don't have a right to be given happiness, we have a right to pursue it. If Sony isn't providing you with a product that brings you happiness, then pursue it with somebody else's product.

I still want my cake though! And my G 27 to work with my (soon to be purchased PS4) if not then I'm going to begrudgingly upgrade to a t500 simply because I don't like the X box controller!

The driver's list has been updated and is ready to go for tonight's racing. Please take a look at it as there were a couple of driver's that changed divisions from last week to this week. Don't be the guy that shows up in the wrong division because you didn't read the thread.

Regarding support for Logitech wheels on the PS4, Andy Tudor of Project CARS came out with an interesting answer in a recent interview:

"So that I never have to answer this question ever again, all I have to say is that our wheel list is not final. So please hang in there for more information.................We have the answer, we cannot tell it right now but please hang in there a little more."

The full interview can be heard here (skip on to the 49.30 mark to hear the above comments).

All this talk about wheels and PS4s has made me a bit curious. I've finally got a job (first one ever) for the summer and I'll be making a fair bit of money to spend impulsively and find myself in debt to many people and companies. So the question is: Does anyone have experience with a Thrustmaster T80 (or whatever the name of their new budget well is)? I see it's fairly cheap around $100 and I'm not really asking for much from a wheel. And would anyone of you guys recommend it?

Cant wait to race tonight! :D

Which probably means that Logitech wheels might eventually work with Project Cars which would confirm what Sony has said from the very beginning about older wheels and that is that it would be up to the game developers to provide compatibility for older wheels. Logitech wheels will most likely never be compatible with the XMB menu on the PS4 just as the fanatec wheels are not able to be used in the PS4 menus. You won't get a share button but each game developer is able to write in compatibility for whatever wheel they want to provided they can get that wheel manufacturer to work with them.

I would not recommend anything that describes itself as having a "bungee" centering system. It's not a force feedback wheel. It is just spring loaded to go back to the center. It's also not a 900 degree wheel or even close so any movements you get out of it would be pretty twitchy and not much, if any, better than a controller. I can only assume that the pedals are not even on par with what comes with the T300 so those would be junk as well. Save your $100 and spend it on something that will meet your needs for years to come.

I see, I see. If that's the case I'll just save for that T300.

Finally got the pisc finished. Some Highlights and some disaster moments... Schmed did very good and theres a few great shots of his performances. Also tough about showcasing the battle between me and gunny... fun moment!.

That's the company's decision and it's our decision, as customers, to acquiesce and pay or to take our business elsewhere. That's how a lot of seemingly untouchable companies have crumbled (hello, blackberry!).

I understand there are people that have been playing GT since forever, so that obviously changes the equation, because there's an attachment and a sense of "I've been supporting this for ages and now they screw me over". I get that and it's something that Should have been taken into account, obviously.

But speaking as someone that first played in GT6, I have no sentimental attachment to the franchise itself, so changing to PC, Assetto or whatever wouldn't be a problem. I do have a problem with the lack of Logitech support, as they are a huge player in the market and it's ridiculous for their products not to be supported.
I haven't purchased a PS4 because I don't want to purchase everything again. So I've already decided that, should the PS4 not support my wheel, I'm moving on to PC gaming which would be my only investment, as the wheel and the setup is ready.
It would be a shame to lose the community I've found and developed within the GT franchise, though.

Hi,

To all my fellow SNAILs, I've raced/practized with quite a lot of you guys, I guess we've all been through this, but lately I've seem to lost pace, consistency and other things. My racecraft hasn't always been good but it has improved since I'm with SNAIL.

The problem is that I simply don't know where's all the time I've lost (not to mention the times some of the faster guys find) I've been using the Data Logger and most of my braking points, turn in points, etc are spot on... So it's harder for me to identify my mistakes...

Is there any chance, we create a Race Camp similar to what @GTP_Vertigo made in January (which I couldn't complete due to personal issues and real life). Or something that wouldn't just be focused on getting the best out of one particular combo, but improving racing all around?

I can't commit to a tight schedule (because I don't know when I have time to play GT6), but I'll do my best to be there.

Im sure other SNAILs would take advantage of it as well...

So if any of you is interested, post here in the thread...

Some shots from last night practice @ Spa. Full grids can be very fun and exciting or they can by painful and crushing. Dealing with slower traffic with a car that gets upset by 'slow speed' and lack of down-force can be tricky to manage.

Man! Go on an hit the edit button, add a spoiler and cut'n paste everything into it... It should work...

Greetings!
I don't ever see you in the practice rooms I host.. I like to race and practice.. because practice makes perfect. But as others can tell you I don't mind helping out when others are struggling.

I am no expert by any means but I can help if you want.

To put it simply, it comes down to how much time you spend "in the corner". Even if you match a braking point and apex speed, that doesn't necessarily mean you've reached the apex in the same amount of time. There's a lot to be said about the rate of deceleration and methods to do it. Also, even if you were to match the throttle on point, that won't necessarily translate to the same exit speed. The attitude of the car at that point will largely determine how well your exit is. I remember doing the 1st round of GTA last year at Brands Hatch Indy. Comparing my data to the top driver, many of my points were spot on the money, even a couple of my braking methods matched in profile, but I was still 1-2 mph slower than him at any point on the track. Attitude of the car is key and obtaining the right balance of throttle/steering/brake at every measureable foot on track to achieve it in the most efficient way possible is an artform we all love to chase.

I missed a lot of those days due to real life, unfortunately, but they were great.
If it ever happens again, with Vertigo being gone and all, I would definitely try to join.

Sorry about the little rant but it's one of those frustrating phases!

@Wolfsatz Our schedule's don't seem to match... But Ilwill definitely join when I see you around there!

And @Lessen yes, that's the absolute way of describing it, is just that as of lately I seem to be more and more slow! And I can't pinpoint the faults... BTW My admiration for your ability with the DS3 is huge! (Seeing your times, as I have you in PSN)

1) Just join any SNAIL practice room whenever you can. Only focus on one or two combos at time so you can give yourself time to learn small details associated with each car and track. It sounds like you just need to improve your ability to control the cars at the limit.

2) Do your homework too. Don't just watch replays from the fastest guys. Watch replays from someone who is .5 second faster than you and see where he consistently is gaining time on you. Focus on trying to catch him first. Focus on trying to catch the next person .5 second a lap faster after you get your first .5 second faster. Give yourself attainable and reachable goals. When you do meet those goals, you'll be motivated and energized to make the next step.

You can only take one step at a time. If you try to find 1.5 seconds per lap immediately, there is usually too much that you need to change and not enough time to change it.

@DGuzmanG Sometimes there are particular cars or tracks that trouble us. They don't do what we want them to do, they do too much of what we don't want them to do, the right line eludes us... yadda yadda. Sometimes it's beneficial to stop driving to be a better driver. Analyzing characteristics of cars and/or tracks by not driving them at speed (or at all!) can really open ones eyes to the reality at hand.

Oh, and I appreciate your kind words but always remember at the end of the day anybody with a competitive spirit is in the same boat... looking for time we don't have. No matter how fast somebody is, they're probably just as irritated by the inability to be faster. Bottom line, many of us think we're just a little bit faster than we actually are, and anybody who doesn't, probably won't be.
