Theme: 'Murica! - We've raced Corvettes before, but now's your chance to drive anything you want from the Greatest Country on Earth!™ Muscle cars are of course an option, but you can drive anything you want! Be creative!

Ford Ka, here I come!

I think that falls in the same category as the GTO; if it's not made or sold in the US, it's not an American car.

Hehehe. I know. I just chose the "American" car with the lowest PP that I could think of. I'm sure I won't be there Friday night, anyway. I'll be at the local county fair eating barbecue and funnel cakes and watching a figure 8 race (I mean every word of that). That's certainly more American than a Ford Ka.

Well there goes two of the cars I was thinking about using...

I should add, Lexus doesn't really count either, as far as I'm concerned.

How does Nebraska do their BBQ?

Depends on the joint. The majority are vaguely Memphis or Texas-inspired, but others get their influences elsewhere. On average, most sauces are spicy, smoky and only a bit sweet. Something akin to Famous Dave's.

We're only a few short hours to Kansas City, though. Every chance I get to go there I make sure to find a way to get to Arthur Bryant's.

Where ya been, Doughboy!?

…or scion, Acura, Infinity or Eagle.

I'm thinking we descend on zer05ive for this.

You've got a big house right zer0???

Come on down! The more the merrier! dvdoughboy will be staying with me too - it'll be a blast! Even Gumball said he was considering coming down for the race and staying with us! Let's make it a SNAIL invasion of CotA!!

Not having been to an F1 event, I was considering paying almost anything :dopey:

"almost anything" is exactly what you'd have to pay for Turn 1 seats. We'll be sitting at Turn 12 since none of us were willing to sacrifice our first-born children for Turn 1.

That's a shame, zer0, you have a 60+ inch flat panel with HD feed :) Cuz I know you have tickets.

I've traveled to Shanghai and Spa-Francorchamps for F1 races, so I had better be going to a race that, in relative terms, is in my backyard!

Circuit of the Americas has already reported that all tickets have been sold out :nervous: This was according to an article I read on SpeedTV.com
The cheapest listed are over $300 each. Is that right?? Maybe all of the cheap tickets have already sold out?

General admission tickets are sold out, but grandstand tickets are still available. Do it!

They should have made that course into the shape of the United States. They pretty much had free run to build what they wanted. The turns would have been easy to name, then.

Imagine…
The technical Eastern Seaboard section
The sweepers along the Gulf of Mexico
The "Texas Hairpin"
The right angle "New Mexico" chicane
The high speed straight from Washington to the Great Lakes

Nah. It would've been too cool, and too many fans would have moaned about not being able to see the action in the Maine curves from their seats in the San Francisco Bay low speed section.

Instead we just get a Nürb GT rehash.

Shame.

;)

I've traveled to Spa-Francorchamps.

It's true, here's his picture of Eau Rouge when he went :P

And no one can use the Pontiac GTO since that's just a Holden with the steering wheel on the other side making it Australian :sly:

Tez, I was going from this 'strangely familiar....' comment.

I would like to race in SNAIL, I can't guarantee racing often though.

Hey Jahgee1124,

Glad you want to race in S.N.A.I.L.! Just let us know when you can and can't race, that way the race directors will be prepared 👍

We run a clean league by enforcing the S.N.A.I.L. OLR and we expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both.

Steps:
1. I add you to the drivers list as a New S.N.A.I.L. (Done)
2. You run the Time Trial.
3. You Private Message my GTPlanet account with your time from the time trial. N.B. You will not be able to race Sundays without submitting your time.
4. I assign you to the appropriate Division, giving you the best racing possible.
5. A PSN friend request will be sent from the appropriate SNAIL_Division1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 account. That is where you race on Sunday night.
6. You drive fast and clean on Sunday :)

The original post has a lot of information regarding the league, commit it to memory ;)

The second post has the current race lineup and is updated weekly.

If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, post your choices in this thread. To avoid duplication, the currently claimed combinations can be found here.

During the week we run a number of different events feel free to jump in and partake!

Welcome aboard and enjoy :)

I just wanted to use the Commodore but can't since it is a Holden and was trying to figure out a reason to not allow the GTO in, that's all ;)

I won't be doing magic lap this week anyway.

Honestly I don't think it's that important. I'd be willing to let people drive anything they considered American, whether or not it was actually manufactured or designed or whatever in America. For example, I'd still consider the Pontiac GTO and Eagle Talon to be acceptable.

And just curious, why isn't the Superbird on that list?

Cause I missed it?

Racing a few laps then fixing more stuff. So add back the Lexus, etc?

Well the list is a good guideline for people who want cars that are definitively American. There'd be no point to the list if it was simply any car which Gran Turismo considers to be from the US.

Any car from the US is the restriction, but if you want to restrict yourself further to the cars on your list, that's your choice (and at least somewhat recommended).

Well, I must admit I do not know which cars are 100% 'Merican, or owned by what percentage. I just copied over (most) of what Granturismo.net listed.

I will adjust the list given info, but I do not know which cars or manufacturers to exclude. That is what I need you to tell me, I suppose.

Basically.

If anyone feels they need to be more strict about what cars they need to use, they can do some research on whatever cars they are interested and decide if they conform to their own restrictions.

There are many possible definitions for "American Car" so I leave it up to the drivers to decide what that is and represent what they want to represent.

I will, however, say that I would not be so willing to let someone drive, say, a Lancia Stratos... ;)

I'm slower on the uptake than normal, I see.

Thanks for the assist, AP, and the patience, dylansan.

I'll add back in the Pontiac, Lexus, etc and leave it at that, then.

And of course, the SuperBird!
