If anyone wants to grab a Beamer and run it for me, that I'm already friends with I'll gift ya some paint chips or something. Working but want to practice later on. Was running the Acura before I left, but overlooked the big RM after the title

Darn, was hoping to keep the GT...

Oh well, nothing against the BMW. Though, I'm not a huge fan of Rome either.

Alright then Captain, here's my pick!

Acura NSX RM '91 at Twin Ring Motegi East Course

I totally did not see Pilmat's post before I wrote this...

It's right here! Sorry I should be checking in more often here.

For round 3 I'm changing the car. New car is BMW M5 '08!

Thanks dabneyd and GumballCGT for making your picks!

The August 26 Lineup has been set!

See you guys at practice races in 3 hours!

I really dug the gt as well, ran well on Rome minus a few late brake accidents :). I'll try the BMW out when I get home, won't be able to practice with it tonight though

Edit: what time is practice est?

10pm Eastern / 7pm Pacific - the same time for all of our events. :)

Keep in mind, the room number will be posted about 10 minutes beforehand. However, the room usually fills up quickly so be sure to join before maximum capacity is reached.

in off topic news, look what I did!!!

So so much more work still to do, but its started, and outside of the accelerator pump being not so hot, it runs well. Just a little tuning on the timing and on the carb and it will be back on the road tearing it up. Oh, and wiring, lots and lots of wiring still to fix.

Anniversary time for me and my favorite gal!! We have an awesome weekend planned so I will not be on the grid this week! Good luck to all Sunday night and will see you all again on the 2nd.

I agree, had a really good time racing you guy's from the upper divisions!

Sorry I couldn't stay for the BMW at Rome as my car was deemed Tuned, can't see a tune so I sent it to Zero for inspection.

Congrats on your anniversary, Exo! Sounds like you have some fun times lined up! 👍

Thanks, but there's a chance we might not have official races on the 2nd since that's Labor Day weekend. We'll probably just take a poll after this Sunday's races to see how many SNAILs won't be racing on the 2nd. If there's a higher than normal number of absences, we'll just cancel the official races (like we did for Memorial Day Weekend) and instead just plan a special event just for fun. :)

If the races do get cancelled Might I suggest something fun at the Ring:)

How about a faux 24 hours of Nürb. An enduro with time compressed to fit a whole day cycle into ~90-120 minutes. Pick a PP. Any car (make sure it has headlights). Tuning can be up to popular opinion.

I won't be there, but a race at the Ring sounds quite cool :) The first thing that popped into my head was to pick a one-make car that has a couple of variations, like the SC430 GT500 cars. Pick the one you like (premium only), no tuning (SNAIL spirit), on Race Hards. 90 minutes with a full 24hr cycle feels about right too.

I'm envious I won't be around for this!

Agreed:) Though setting time progression to 24 makes a nice one hour day. I say no tuning but perhaps run either of the three cars that were on the list for that week. That would mix it up a bit.

I won't be around either. Hopefully it's popular enough to do again when I can participate :)

I'd rather see several different cars on the track than to just have another one-make race. It is easy to adjust the time progression so that 90 minutes or 120 minutes can run through a full 24 hours. 60 minutes doesn't seem long enough for an endurance to me. Maybe I'm crazy, though.

The Nissan Falken*GT-R Race Car '04 is at 582PP. Being a real 24 Nürb car that would seem like an ideal starting place.

No way, man. Give the standards a chance to shine.

Agreed on the standards, I just bought a bunch of Super GT Skylines from the OCD and would love a chance to drive them.

I would also like to see some tuning perhaps, though I'm not particularly good at it.

I have no hate of standards, in fact my favorite GT5 car is a standard "D My point here was for the SC430, as there are both standard and premiums. With the premiums, you can just walk into the dealer and buy them, no other reason.

I too like multi make races, but as with all games, a little testing shows one to be the "best" (ever play Project Gotham?). Here, you get (a little) variety and just pick the one you like.

I'll step out of the discussion now, as I don't have a horse in the race (I'll be away real racing). If you pick a nice format, it can be a "bonus" race on months with holidays or 5 weeks. 👍

As for tuning, I suggest you keep this full SNAIL, not to alienate the masses that chose this series for it's straight forward rules, but again, only my opinion.

Does anyone know what the PP for each car after runin and oil change should be? I know a few of my cars for this week have already been runin and just want to make sure they are not down on power. of course that assumes the PP decreases over time. Does anyone know if they do lose power with increased mileage?

Saw a thread about this a while ago and if I remember correctly they don't decrease in pp for at least 2-3k miles.

Have a look at this thread for a detailed explanation for how mileage affects HP.

Basically, make sure your car satisfies the following conditions for maximum HP (and thus PP):

  • Driven more than 300km but less than 5000km since the last overhaul or since being bought. This is breaking in your engine.

  • Has had an oil change within the last 200km.

  • Has less than 15000km on it overall.

If you buy a car new, all you have to do is drive at least 300km (186.41mi.) and then change the oil. At that point the HP will be at its maximum until you need to change the oil again in 200km.
