It's not something you just dump something on. It's not a big truck!

Ok. So basically you can think of internet networks as freeway systems. The connection between you devices and whatever you are connecting too sets up the path that the packets are going to travel. On each end is an off ramp, that would be you external IP address. After that you have a station of sorts. This tells the packets where to go within your house. These packets then travel down special lanes depending on their use. These are the ports. Generally, these packets are sent down every path to every device. What port forwarding does is it tells everything traveling on a specific port to travel to a specific device and nothing else. This ensures a nice clean path for the data being sent, this in turn helps reduce packet loss.
For info on how to set it up on your router check out portforward.com
The ports GTS use are:
TCP: 1935, 3074
UDP: 1935, 3074
I don't think your analogy holds up, especially not packet loss because NAT doesn't solve packet loss. If you want to really know it, research NAT (Network Address Translation).

Think of it like a letter getting sent to an apartment building with only 1 street address (public IP address). The apartment building has 65000ish mail boxes(ports). Everyone in the apartment (devices on your internal network acting as a server listening for incoming packets) can request any number of mailboxes(ports), but only 1 apartment at a time can request an individual mailbox(single port number).

So when I as a PS4 need to be able to listen for incoming packets on a certain port that is accessible from outside my local network, I register that port (mailbox number) with my landlord (router) and so I get access to the packets (letters) sent to that port (mailbox). In this case your landlord is great, and instead of having to manually check the mailbox, the landlord (router) automatically delivers the letters I receive in the mailboxes I've claimed as mine.

A dmz is like a default mailbox. Any letter sent to a mailbox not registered by a tenant gets sent to the tenant that is registered as the dmz tenant.

We need all active drivers to run the time trial and submit your time via the form that is linked right here. We would like for everyone to do this as soon as possible so that we have a reliable data set to compare new drivers to and place them more accurately.

Nobody will be moved between divisions based solely on this time trial. It is only to help the league with new driver placement.

A reminder to all who have not done this yet. If you are tagged in this post, you have until 1/3/18 @11:59 PM ET. If you are not tagged in this post, you don't need to run a time trial. Failure to complete this by the deadline will result in you being moved to inactive status (regardless of how many nights you have raced) and you will have to complete the entire registration process over again.

@Nicktune @src_ej6 @nmcp1 @ScorpionTopaz @USERID_77a23 @Engmatic1 @Wolfsatz @Wardez @Adventuruss @DutchRacer_GT @vovik05 @ConnorWolf @Ph1sh @David_Z @XR_RACER_11 @Deal24 @AtomicVersion19 @IceManFan_7 @DMacs13 @MrTwo192 @JonnyWolf @Ratsaladd @InfinteChaos @fzappa @afrojcactair @basswerks1 @DBUCKEYES @Alexrider007 @BayouSimDrifter @Handlebar @DVD @Proudad1977 @StacysMom2 @jaybocc2 @Pichon617

If your name appears on this list and you no longer wish to race in SNAIL, please let us know so we can stop tagging you in posts asking you to run a time trial.

It holds up fine i think (I work IT, specifically enterprise storage, but I deal in networks often since, well, its all network based) basically, you are arguing semantics. I was giving a general overview of how it all worked. Not talking about re specific locations, but we can use your examoke too.
Without breaking into exchanges and all that, your address is the public facing IP given to your modem by the ISP, that is your house address on the internet, not your street. The street address would be the hub containing the OXC or FPON. NAT itself doesnt come into play until the connection hits your gateway router.

But honestly, there is no need to delve so deep and start confusing people.

After 2 to 3 months of waiting, only one more week left and i will be playing with you all. This has been a crazy 3 months not able to play but with only one week left, it feels strange but yet exciting will be playing again. My PSN online id will remain the same on the PS4 as RacingChamp30. Will stick to the same number 20 in GTS and if not the same colors from GT6 very similar to them and will represent Snail when i race in the online lobbies. I been watching videos, reading reviews and from what i can see, i am going to have a blast racing against very respectable people online and clean racing drivers. Yes i will expect to experience dirty drivers in the online lobby racing rooms but that is expected. Will be great racing up against past drivers and new ones as well in Snail. I know physics are entirely different in GTS so i will be doing the Circuit experiences first Christmas night and then over to the driving school before i submit my request to re-join Snail as a full time driver. Mission challenges will be the last for me and looking forwards to the new GT league that is supposed to come this month and more cars. I still have the same high speed connection i had in GT6 and would still be as a NAT 2 connection. I won't host right away because i will want to get used too how things are run both in practice room and official Sunday Snail night racing. Between the wild driving that will occur in the online lobbies and very clean racing in Snail, cannot wait to not just compete against you all, help with hosting practice and official Sunday night racing once i get used to the new system in Snail but looking to give you all tight competitive yet clean racing overall. See you all very soon my friends, Snail Always.

I'll knock out mine tonight as today is my Friday from work! yeay!

Any Holiday events in the works to close out the year @Rednose58 ? I can help with testing if you've got something planned.

I have not seen anyting of the likes. however I can report that last Friday we run another Enduro Type Race for 25 minutes with Full Damage, 2x Tire ware, 2x Fuel Around the Green Hell.

25 minutes around the burg gets you the exact situation in which you can either play strategy and conserve fuel/tires or go push through and plan for a pit stop. 25 minutes around the Nurb is only 4 to 5 laps depending on the leader's pace. So it gets very interesting as far as strategy.

You can try running the same time frame or less time with more tire/fuel multiplier. but I think 25 minutes is not too long for an endurance race.

We raced N500 cars to make it even more interesting (911 GTR, and some Japanese)

I am in the same boat. I'll be ordering or picking up my ps4 next Thursday. Ill be getting gts at the same time. Hopefully I'll be on before the new year and able to start the new season on time.

@Raw10_2u you should wear a helmet all day tomorrow cause a Bowling ball is coming your way.

You forgot to add the correct naming convention to the 'search' 1 field. You got the right naming convention on the wrong place.

@socalnatv

Something tells me that the Vette will stay... so you can wear it next time if you like it. Custom Penguin Decal free of charge.

Thanks to @Machinist and @Wolfsatz for reminding me once again to put the naming of replays in their proper places! Replays for D3 are done @JLBowler

Divisions 3, 4, and 5 have their replays shared and tagged correctly. Divisions 1 and 2's replays are not coming up in a search. I know D2 is working on it as they are having upload issues.

If you get a chance check out @TVV0_ 's D5 replays on youtube. Excellent, intelligent driving from tvvo and always good racing in D5. I really have to say i have become a fan of him as a driver. Smooth and patient driving style and very deliberate and aware when attempting a pass. You are forgiven if you forget you're watching a replay from a game and not a real race. The driving style is just so authentic.

For replays @Rednose58 has made a simple guide for it. Won't take you more than 10 minutes to do:

Until we get a better procedure to upload replays, here is the proposal for the official replay uploader:
1. Save every Race
2. Go to your replay library and press the triangle button while hovering over your selected replay
3. Select "Share"
4. Check "Open to All"
5. Fill in the info as per the attachment, where Search Tag#1
20171029d2r1r2 represents the date (2017 Oct 29) the Division (d2) the Round (r1) and the Race (r1)

If you have time during race night, you could do the share step as you save the replay, but you will have to be quick and accurate.

Never delete replays where you have been the official replay uploader...

I'm doing D1 after I get home from work. I'll post again when they are done.

Thank you for the update. As long as everyone has them up or is working on it (and letting us know they are working on it), requirements are considered to be met as far as prizes go.

Can’t wait to see u on track again @racingchamp30, the new physics took me awhile too adjust, but there been a couple updates making cars easier to drive. My opinion other then lack of cars, tracks tuning prohibited GTS pretty nice upgrade to gt6.
I'd say you adjusted very quickly :)
