No issues, host should start on time tonight. The only reason to delay start is to allow a driver already in the lobby their 3 minutes to sort out connection issues

Whoops forgot too but DB5 and it’s sold out, off tomorrow time too pop open some beverages, hope it’s voted off as not sure when next time it’s available, fyi, bought all used cars long time ago, Legend dealer different story.

Scores done. Thanks for hosting as usual @racingchamp30 and it was fun seeing back on track @Akzl298 Thanks for taking the votes at the end !

@Buffalo_DRD Welcome to the main SNAIL series, I hope you enjoyed it and will be seeing you around !
Thanks @Worst_Driver
I wasn’t sure what to expect but I really enjoyed myself. Hope I didn’t hold too many people up. I’ll try to be a regular in this series.

Good group you guys got.

Thank you for hosting @racingchamp30

Great to have a night on the track. Lord knows it won't happen often. Nice to see my controller keeps me somewhat competitive still.

The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 2 - Porsche 911 Carrera RS (901) '73 (SM) at Autodrome Lago Maggiore - S02 Afternoon (6 laps)
Therefore the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since @Akzl298 wins Prize A, he gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 3 - Hyundai Genesis Gr.3 (RM) at Autopolis - Full Course - S03 Afternoon (9 laps)
This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since @DublDee gets Prize B, he has the option to freeze the car or the track, or he can give that option to the Prize C winner. If he gives the freeze away, then he gets to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @racingchamp30 so he gets whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it has been confirmed that you don't have any penalties. It's also recommended that you review the SNAIL combo history and other data on our car and track history so that you can get an idea how many times we've raced each car and track. Please remember that originality is always appreciated, so picking cars and/or tracks that we've never raced is a plus (but not required). What's more important is that you thoroughly test any combo that you are considering before making it your official selection. For example, any car you select must not hit its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in a draft).

IMPORTANT: When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting. For example, if you want to choose the Integra Type R as your car selection, post "Honda Integra Type R (DC2) '98". If you want to select Monza for your track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza". Being specific helps us to update the lineup accurately and also helps avoid any confusion among the drivers. Also, please be sure to list the HP and Weight (LBS) of any car you select. For track selections, include the time of day (e.g: 09:00 Clear) or else it will be left to default.

I know flyingdisc voted for 3 when he left after the 5th race I see that is not recorded

I opened a room and ran laps of each combo Sunday night. Can that be counted as a race night? No one joined though.
Actually, if you would have posted here before 9:25 PM ET that you couldn't enter the room because it was full, I would give you credit for racing as you were on time, willing and able to race, but couldn't.

While a total of 16 drivers competed Sunday, I don't think the lobby was ever full. I know @cesarr64 was unable to get in, but he wasn't able to get into any lobby on Sunday.

On Sunday I was communicating with cesarr directly; what would be a better course of action for them to take if this occurs up again?

There is a difference between not being able to get into a lobby because it's full or because an individual just can't enter. If the lobby is full, the driver should post here. If they just can't enter then it's more of a connection problem that would need to be worked on sometime other than Sunday night.

No, there was 1 more spot open but I didn’t want to enter. The slower drivers in the room already smoke me by 8 seconds.
I, uh, how you say don’t like finishing DFL.

Edit: Git gud

🏁 I know of three ways to "git gud".

  1. Innate talent.
  2. Put in the time. 10,000+ hours. Having #1 in abundance reduces this value somewhat.
  3. Compete against opponents that are better than you are. Counts against #2.
🏁

While it's unlikely anyone can do anything to improve #1 by itself, #s 2 & 3 are certainly controllable and have been known to overcome an over-abundance of #1 that hasn't worked #s 2 & 3. "Gitting gud" does require a desire to get there in any case.

I’ll give them a try.

Pretty much anyone can be taught to go faster. Everyone has their limit, per se, but yes it does require a desire to spend some time. However, people can be taught to attain their limit. For example, I am suuuuper rusty because I've gotten in like a couple hours of driving total the past 6 months due to a broken elbow and then last month I blew my back out and am dealing with the sciatica now. I know that to get where I need to be, it's going to take 2-3 weeks of driving an hour or two at least every other day to get back within a couple of tenths to where I need to be. And I have the luxury of knowing exactly where I need to be so I know how to get there. Most don't really have that convenience, as where they need to be is often "faster" whereas I have a specific benchmark that I know I need to be at. That's why last time I hopped on I knew Nick had left about 1.5 seconds out there, because that's where I knew I needed to be. He then went out and got it. I knew it was there, and knew where it was. But I didn't have 25+ laps on the combo, and that's probably about what it would take to get me there.

My point is, there is a method to all of this. Seat time can give you a bunch of pace without any organised learning, but if you want to get into the top couple percent, you need to take an academic approach.

Lastly, and this is important, do not discount the value of learning from those who aren't faster than you. I learned most of what I know from people who aren't as fast as I am. I know that sounds harsh and conceited, and I don't mean it to come off that way; but it is important to word it as such for the impact that sentence carries.

Everything @Marcus Garvey speaks of above falls under #2.

As to that last sentence, I can testify for its veracity. Even though, I'm not the fastest of GT players by any measure and having no desire to join the top couple percent, I have improved vastly from when I first started back in 2011. Most of that improvement has come from "watching tape" during the performance of my stewarding duties and seeing less than exemplary examples of how to do it.

For anyone who is interested, and since I need the seat time; I have opened a room to run some laps with the surviving combo. Since we no longer have room numbers, I guess search by Brands Hatch.

Lobby closed. That was a fun few laps.
