I am proud to announce that my first S.N.A.I.L shoot is completed. I will post them to my flickr as a new set labeled "S.N.A.I.L Spec Racing." They should be posted withing the hour. I will do the other two races tomorrow.

From shooter to shooter, i must say the use of the shutter speed to capture motion without destroying the main subjects is very well executed!
The drifting shots are great

I really appreciate it, I might start doing edits on these as well. Maybe personal "logos" for PSN accounts. If people could imagine a produce a logo for a PSN account, I could put it on the car. I could also do a number.

Anyone else missing the cappuccino?

I didnt even race it league night and I still miss it! I think I have an idea for a great SNAIL series.

Awesome pics saxplayer. Like Wolfsatz said I love the motion effect on the wheels with good focus on the car. How do you get that? I have messed with the shutter speed to try and get that effect, but it never turns out quite right for me.

Believe it or not, my shutter speed is on 60, it's the panning mode. If the speeds are high (90+) use panning mode 3, if its at cruising speeds (40-90), panning mode 2 will do just fine. Anything lower, use 1. It took some practice and some considerable reading into camera setting and their meanings and I think I nailed it. Finally. I'm glad you like them. And trust me, tomorrow's shoot will be loads more fun. I get to shoot the FGT action.

Prize B selection: Zonda at Fuji GT.

Still challenging, but more run off room and less kitty litter.

👍 Nice choice, Bill.

I personally am enjoying this one better, aka crashing less from the get go. The challenging areas stand out, and I can already see improvement. Down to 1:31.5 at first blush.

Tire wear may be an issue if you really like to grind 'em.

I have a quick question? Is it the high power cars that you are not enjoying or something else? If it is the High PP cars I totally understand. I also saw a lot of normal cars being used and that was my biggest draw to the league. I am not sure if there is a solution since we like to give the winners the freedom to choose the car/track combo. That being said maybe we should see if some people would like a chance to focus on lower PP cars.

It's the whole package of these particular cars combined with this league's rules that just don't suit me and don't reflect the mission of SNAIL. I honestly never expected, given a long history of this league that is exceptionally well documented, to be running these cars for two weeks straight.

One thing I am confident about is that the selections did not survive because of the quality of the racing they produced from what I saw in the D2 replays and from comments other competitors made. They do award the top weekly drivers with the prize picks so it only makes sense that they would want to repeat in the cars they had success with. Why pick new car if you don't have to after doing well enough in them to win a prize?

I agree with Garagefather and unfortunatly will not be paticipating as long as these high pp cars are used. I was under the impression from the video in the op that lower pp cars and advertised close racing was what snail was about. I have nothing but good things to say about snail and the drivers but these cars are just not for me:(

I hope you stick it out. I think every combo is frustrating for someone, some more than others, of course. There was a period last summer or fall where my favorite combo was voted off for something like 6 out of 7 weeks.

There's a sort of rhythm to it, I think. Right now, we're driving the highest PP set of combos I can remember, but not that long ago we were driving karts, and I was personally a bit sad to see the Capp go. I would be really surprised if we're still in 2 600+ PP cars a few weeks from now. Of course, even some of those (like the DLC TCs) are pretty forgiving compared to the Zonda and FGT.

i honestly want to know what makes you guys want to drive slow cars that much. last night we ran 2 races in a row where 3 people were within 2 seconds of each other in the fgt. we were all from different divisions tho, even incuding tex from d5 who beat me by a half second one race. the divisions dont reflect all of our skills at all performances because of how many moderate performance races we do. it would be nice if we could format the racing to where there is a low, moderate, and high performance race every week

also i have a 3 hour class, if anyone is watching the sony event can you hit me up with what they are talking about (unless its just for hype like i was told it would be)

I can see where Garage is coming from. If I just started racing here and I saw the lineup for this week I'd probably decide this league wasn't for me.

But I rarely drive Race cars or cars over 550pp period.

I think the evidence speaks for itself....the closest racing comes at lower PP ranges. The higher the PP the further apart the field gets.

It's not because people can't drive the cars, it's because mistakes are made while driving close together at higher speeds. You need to leave more room around your car. Slides are harder to control and predict, especially at 170mph driving 5ft apart.

I dunno...just rambling... but the facts remain. Lower PP equals closer racing...period.

what im saying tho is that this is so because that is what is most often driven. all driving slow cars has ever done for me is teach me to drive without restraint, so i may be kind of biased because im pretty much always in a race car when not snailing, but that has obviously paid dividends for my driving skill

You seem to be forgetting who votes for the combos that are changed.

Spoiler: It ain't the prize winners.

Yes, but whenever you vote for the combo which stays for the next week, you feel that everyone else in the league are morons for keeping it :sly:
