Hey patmanattack,

Your original request to join is in this post :)

Jobyone replied with instructions on how to join in this post. Follow those instructions and you'll be good to go 👍

Cheers,

I struggled with the Zonda. The F1... Sigh. Worse than the Zonda for me, nearly up to the last MacLearen... And that is something.

I may be "busy" Sunday. I am just not having fun on these combos of crazy hp and slippery tires. Rarely seeing another car is not really entertaining.

I know I will hear 'throttle control, man' and so on. I hear you, but cannot seem to grasp it and learn it at these levels even after almost a year in SNAIL.

This particular combo had to be a tough choice. Given the option to replace only the FGT or the track (which is possibly the fastest road course in the game?), it was going to be an incremental change either way. But I hear ya. I'm really starting to yearn for a Subaru. And why oh why can't the '87 Civic Si Race Car show up in the OCD? I would bribe the prize winners to pick it (kidding...maybe).

Edit: Oops, sorry for the double post.

Integra Type R = Racecar?

Try again buddy. It got head lights. Turn signals. It's a street car from where Im from. ;)

He's right Owens, the Zonda R isn't street legal. In fact I think Zondas cannot be imported into the US due to their lack of airbags (I may be wrong though, I heard that once.:scared:)

Type R BRAH, V-TEC kicked in bro. (sorry couldn't resist)

Okay, maybe the R doesn't stand for racing, but I know that thing is not street legal. Hell, I think they even said that on Top Gear. There are Zonda road cars in the game, but that ain't one of them.

…and I drive an RSX Type S. The S is for Sexual Tyrannosaurus. ;)

Wouldn't that be more fitting for a Focus ST?

Damn, so much for practicing. I ended up getting a work related phone call @ 9:45 last night and forgot all about practice after dealing with that.

Any hints for the F1? It is eating me alive.

The Corvette only gets the leftovers.

I'm not doing the best with the F1 myself but the only tip I have is patience. It's pretty good under braking so pick a good braking point. I let it roll through the center of the corner with a slight amount of throttle to maintain momentum and then I gradually give it throttle coming out of the corner. If you just slam the throttle it will bite you on corner exit. You have to be smooth on the gas and patient because of the understeer mid corner.

Well we had a Subaru at Daytona a few months back and it was a blast IMO

TO add to what qwiet mentioned, you can make the throttle control easier by going up a gear for the slow tight corner exits (or even the chicane thing if its loose there).

What I do for cars like the F1 or the vette with a lot of power for the tire being used is I will go down to the lowest gear I can for the corner to get it to turn, but then up one before I get on the gas. With the vette last night I was actually going up 2 gears at times before getting on the gas. So for a tight turn on Motegi I would sometimes go to 1st under lift when I need it to turn most, then up to 3rd before I got to full throttle.

If its getting loose during braking (like turn 1) I would start feeding in the brake before fully coming off the gas. That will make it very stable usually when you get to full braking. This works in real rear wheel drive cars too, I use it all the time on tricky transitional corner entries 👍

Rally cars also have these, and everything else they need to make it street legal, to include registration and insurance. They have to drive on regular roads between stages and must meet all DOT requirements as well as local laws. But those cars are surely race cars, and wouldn't run without racing tires.

Enjoying reading the advice on these cars. Due to the fact I can't make the Wednesday night practices I'm always curious on competitive lap times.

Would anyone mind sharing lap times for the vette and F1?

Thanks

you know, I wonder if that Mr. Denny fellow is kicking himself for the GT6 comment. I know that only on person made comment of this, I think, hard to be sure with how fast this thread moves. Anyway, I think it would be great if PD is bringing it to the PS3. You can see why here. Another reason is that if gt6 released on ps4, I then would be spending the money on those. On ps3, I will more then likely make a triple monitor setup instead.

Just an aside. The average PP of all cars used prior to my first race (August 12) was 476. The last three weeks the average has been 635:)

I hope we get GT6 on PS3:) My wish list is fairly simple. Slightly better graphics (with much improved Shadows), 4-5 new tracks, 50-100 new cars and standards becoming premium, two new track creators (Wales and The Appalachians) :) That would make me very happy indeed.

I need help with a decision on a valid, or not, racing complaint. To be clear I am not calling anyone out or pointing fingers. IF last night was Sunday, would I have a legitimate complaint (we're talkin' bout practice...lol). I have a question during the '60 Vette race. I think the first race. Start time was 2212 hours. Lap 1 at :30 second in and again at roughly :35. If anyone saved the race, would you be so kind as to review it and let me know if this is something I would file on Sunday? Being new here, I wouldn't want to waste time on filing if it is not legit.

Everything you need to know is right here
You might consider possibly editing you post and taking your issue to one of the stewards and remember that you need to submit any issue before the end of Monday. Posting on the main thread here goes against our policy and can get you in trouble. Just to let you know.

As the race director says at the end of every Sunday night, If you feel you have been the victim of poor racecraft, file a complaint using the process. The key there is if YOU feel like it was wrong, it's worth filing a complaint. I would suggest watching the replay from your perspective and the other drivers perspective before making a decision on weather or not to file.

Curious how the street legal Zonda gets racing mediums but the F1 gets sports softs?

Both cars are street cars. Well street legal race cars anyway.

Logic doesn't exist IMO.

"This particular Zonda R is a dedicated model for circuit racing, much like the Ferrari FXX."

It also has full downforce. Actually, it's similar to the Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo in that respect....which we used racing tyres for.

Most of the good cars have already been run and people are trying to be original in their picks so we are down to the scraps. On a positive note, I love the 350Z and the vette so far. The vette is loose out of low speed corners but so much more controllable and predictable than the Zonda and Mclaren. Recovering is a lot easier and more predictable in the vette. Hopefully is stays that way from my lounge to the D2 lounge.

I was surprised how well the 350Z handled. I was expecting oversteer loose handling like most z cars but the 350Z actually has understeer and can be hammered coming out of corners w/o breaking loose. I like cars you can drive aggressively. The tenderfoot Zonda and Mclaren are so twitchy and unforgiving. You have to drive them like you are on a Sunday cruise.

The Mclaren is better than the Zonda but it has that dreaded understeer in, oversteer out handling which is the worst. I had to laugh at the Mclaren because it was going sideways on me coming out of turn 2 at 30mph giving it about 15-25% throttle. I laughed because my '81 chevy pickup with small block 350 handles better in real life than this car does in the game. My truck has a lot less HP and more weight than the F1, but it has more torque and no weight in the rear over the axle, unlike the Mclaren, so the truck should get loose easier than the Mclaren but it holds traction a lot better (in the dry) at those speeds, even with the hammer down exiting a turn. The handling of the F1 just doesn't seem realistic. I am sure the car handles much better in real life or it doesn't deserve the badge "F1".

Any hints for the F1? It is eating me alive.

All I know is brake really early. If you heat up the tires too much stopping, it is murder getting going again w/o going sideways. The tires get really greasy feeling coming out of a corner when you are too hard/ too late on the brakes entering.

gt5addict was asking about an incident that happened in practice not a Sunday league night. He just wanted to know if the situation warranted lodging a complaint.

As rally said, knowing the criteria for what makes up an incident is key. But also use your own experience as a guide. If it didn't feel right, watch the replays from both perspectives and go from there.

And as bowler said, there's no harm reporting. Worst case it's deemed a non-incident and you learn something 👍 As long as it doesn't get to the ridiculous stage ;)

the car is made to go fast in a straight line. slow down more than you would for any other car in the turns, then put the hammer down when you get through the turn
