I'm not opposed to multiple locations, mostly because it's costly and time consuming for a lot of people. I mean, VIR is hundreds, even thousands of miles for some people. That said, MI has a great kart track too, kart 2 kart. It was one of the spots that red bull used about 10 years ago when they had that competition to find a driver for f1. If anyone around the great lakes is interested I can get some info from them.

Plane tickets within the US are so damn cheap... come on! One crazy act in your life won't make you starve

A heads-up to my fellow SNAILs: I will be on a plane this Sunday for a work trip to VA, so I will miss the races. I will still have Internet access next week, but not my PS3, so while I won't be racing, I should still be able to fulfill my D3 steward duties. If, for some reason, that changes, I'll let the appropriate people know.

Man you guys rock!! It is so cool to hear that a lot of you have had visions of getting the SNAIL crew together in real time. I too have had that same fantasy as well but mine goes a little more like this: I think it would be epic to stage a Live League Night. Set up the same way GT Academy does it. Rent out a banquet hall and set up 16 full race rigs. Starting at twelve o'clock high, all members of division 5 saddle up and race head to head with the weeks line up and run it all day and into the wee hours of the night until all 5 divisions have raced. Set up a special "Stewards Table" for real time penalty assessment, real time data logging, food drinks and SNAIL insanity for an entire weekend. In the day or so before "Race Day" individual head to heads, Alien driving seminars, drunken group shuffle... Just a dream of mine... Now where did I put that lotto ticket?!?!?!?!?

This is actually the best idea I've heard thus far. Honestly, if people volunteered their racing rigs and people chipped in money to rent the hall, I feel like this would be very do-able. All we'd have to do is figure out a location that would be the best central spot to get as many as we can to be able to attend. I would deffinately show up to something like this if i could.

Not to mention cat and mouse in person! I think schmiggz was right in that Mizur would be the best place to set this up. Thats Missouri for those not in the know. But, I do still like the idea of karting.

If you go in mid august, hotels are cheap, flights are cheap and there are a couple of different indoor karting facilities. There are also many other establishments that have banquet rooms and the such for some GT5 racing if we wanted to. There are also many other opportunities to partake of male bonding with our fellow SNAILs.

Flights to Reno are anything but cheap any time of year. From a personal standpoint, Reno would be awesome for me. I could drive there in a little less than four hours (Vegas is 7 to 9) depending on traffic. Vegas also has options that don't require a rental car unless you want to get way off the beaten path. Reno isn't quite the same in that respect.

Edit: I wondered why anyone would suggest Reno and I see that you're in Tahoe. I get it now.
