I would think the white line is a continuation of the rumble to the next rumble strip, thus OB if outside of it. Looks pretty obvious to me.

That is how I typically try to run tracks - keeping inside white lines in the run off areas. The "current" rules are a bit more forgiving.

Anyone that was in D5 last night

Did any of you guys have any problems with lag and audio? At the beginning of race 1 I started getting alot of lag and audio problems and was wondering if anyone else was having problems with this. Thanks!

I'm in d3, but I was having some audio/video problems as well. Every now and then my tires would get really quiet and I was constantly dealing with screen tearing/frame rate drops. My system is cool with plenty of airflow and the disc is clean :dunce: well I assume it is. Gt5 hasn't left my system I'm over a month lol

Hi, Can I join your Sunday league? Are you still taking new members?

My PSN ID is steppenwolf111

You have good timing! We're about to start a new season this coming Sunday night. Stay tuned to this thread and you'll see a reply shortly from JLBowler with instructions on how to join. 👍

Wolfsatz
Don't worry Panda... next week I'll beat it by 3! :sly:

I guess I'll have to break in my cars next week :sly: I don't usually take the time to do more than practice and oil change (in that order) except for when the competition gets as close as it has been...

A few people in d3 have started having their 'lightbulb coming on' moment and it's making the lead pack feel a lot like it did in d2. You, Oshawa, and Thetwoarmedgirl have REALLY stepped it up recently 👍👍:sly:

Hey skyf1re11

Thanks for your interest! Here's what you need to know and do in order to join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the S.N.A.I.L. OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide.
Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You run the Time Trial. (NOTE: The tires selected for this have more grip than our current tire regulations allow, but please follow the directions exactly anyways).
2. You PM kcheeb with your time from the time trial (no Sunday racing until this is completed).
3. We assign you to the division that we feel will give you the closest competition.
4. We send you a you a PSN friend request from the corresponding SNAIL_Division1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 account. That PSN account's lounge is where you will race on Sunday night.
6. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

The original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread.

Please note that we often race DLC from three add-on packs:

Racing Car Pack
Course Pack
Twin Ring Motegi Pack

If you don't have these add-on packs, you will need to sit out the races in which they are used.

If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, post your choices in this thread.
To avoid duplication, the currently claimed combinations can be found here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.

Welcome to S.N.A.I.L.

Running that corner by yourself and then going through there side by side will yeild different results each and every time.

It's still not going to yield the fastest line. as far out as the strip reaches, and then how soon that outside lane ends into grass will put the outside guy at risk. the ethos of good race craft would dictate that while you can pop out once the rumble strip ends, you jeopardize your race by trying to squeeze in a pass on that line. Unless you have far more speed then whom you are trying to pass, you are going to go off track. and considering the next is a right hander, you don't exactly set yourself up for a good inside line either. In a scenario where you are two wide. The outside driver will be nearly on the rumble strip as it is. Both the inside and outside drivers should have completed the turn and be on a straight trajectory long before the curbing ends.Unless there is some straight bit of physics going on in D1. I mean, it's called area 50d1 for a reason I suppose.

I wasn't close enough to the front to have much lag, but when I was checking out a replay on race #2, I was surprised how much there was on my replay.

Last night, me and Wolfsatz had a pact, a 2 men team strategie so we found our own racing team and we called it : "The two idiots making tons of newbie mistakes and having the worst nightmare racing night ever racing team"! Sponsored by Tylenol: "Get back to normal whatever your normal is"

Oh... and we sealed this pact with blood when he knocked me outta track in tsukuba :D :D :D

I used to be faster when I could practice more consistently. As it was, I was half second off my average pace from Saturday on every combo, average and fast lap. I blame it on being freaking tired from getting up for work on 3:40am Sunday morning and not getting home until about 9:30pm. Almost didn't make it. Don't forget, I used to be in D2 for a few months and also won a few races there (non reverse grid), but like I said, that's when I had time to play the game more often.

As far as the racing went, my slow reaction times got me in trouble. I have to go self report now. I'm strongly considering starting to change oil and break in the cars every week too.

Don't feel bad. I used to be a top 10 racer on 2 other games, then I started driving a semi truck. The only practices I get now are the qualifying laps, if I can even make it to the race. I was 10 minutes late last night.

It's good as long as the fun:frustration ratio is good. That's why I like D3, I can usually do a decent job keeping up with the pack with the time I have available to play. Another reason SNAIL SPEC racing is the best - with 5 divisions, everyone has a place to fit in and have fun.

LMAO.. 👍 Last night I was totally off any rhythm; and that stupid Chicane at Nurb has a magnet that attracts my car to it every time!

Talk about newbie mistake... I had a 5 second lead and I was thirsty.. so I grab my water and missed my breaking point nailing the barrier at the chicane.

Division 4 replays are up!!

D5 is now uploaded.

D3 replays were uploaded last night.

D1 and D2 and replay uploaders, please post when your replays are up. As described here, we need to try to have them up by tonight so that our stewards can start reviewing complaints.

Data specialists, please post when you've got all your stats taken care of this week. It's especially important that they're done on time this week since we have to work on promotion and relegation for the new season. Thanks!

TEZ, do me a favor.... go back to Tsukuba and practice that last long right turn before the finish line. You can make it waaaaay faster than you did it last night :)

Looks good, cheeb! Is there any way you can add one more column for thread penalties (as opposed to racing penalties)? Both RickyBobby and JoeW were docked one GranStand point each for complaining about race incidents publicly on the thread instead of doing it the proper way.

I gave both of them a chance to file a complaint to regain their GranStand point, but neither one did. The only reason I mention that now is that I want to make clear that there were be no more "warnings" about this kind of stuff. We're one month into the GranStand season so everyone should know the rules by now. If you have a complaint about anything that happened on the track, tell someone who can actually do something about it. Complaining openly on the thread will result in the automatic loss of GranStand points, regardless of whether you file an official complaint or not.

I added another column beside the Penalties column and called it Thread Penalties. You'll be able to enter the points as awarded. I put the two you mentioned in.

I didn't think there was much value in having an extra penalty column for each week. Not to mention it would be a LOT of work :)

My speed at the apex pretty much matched what everyone else was doing so I'm guessing you mean the entry to it since I don't let the car coast as much as others so my initial speed is lower. But, if I'm the car in front, it's not really my problem :sly:

Anyone around wanna do some touge laps? I'll be in d3 for a few running either my track or the nurb.

I would like to join on the league. My time on Laguna Seca was 1:40.570 and my PSN ID is : Fabricio98 thanks!

Ok, Tezzy, i have no intention to correct you but the thing is that particular race is one of the tightest of all times and for the past two weeks it has created a rhythm of itself. I was simply not counting at all that you would get your speed as low as you did, so wasn't Joe and that's why there was so much contact behind you but, if the race doesn't get voted off, it's definitely something we have to count on the next time.
Besides that, all good. I'm an admirer of your skill and steady rhythm.:dopey:

I was somewhat cautious since I haven't raced with the DFGT for a couple of weeks (Indy SS last week not withstanding, but an oval is a fair bit different to a road course, lol) so I concentrated more on keeping it on the road than usual. That most likely contributed to me being a bit slower around parts of the tracks as well :)
