Something else the astute in the crowd will notice is that last week's D3 Director (leadbedr) has been promoted to D2. Therefore we currently don't have a D3 director.

If you're interested in being the D3 Director tonight, please let us know.

I can help with this, not a problem.

Last night I had the misfortune of my Turtle Beach Headset (P11) completely die on me. The wires (I have a whole rant about corded controllers and headsets but this isn't the time of the place for that) inside the cord broke because they don't have the proper support.

Last night I was forced to scramble to find and use my bluetooth headset which sounds like crap to me and everyone I'm trying to talk (just ask anyone who heard me last night. :( not good) to but it was better than having to type everything or worse, be forced to use smoke signals. LOL

I was going to just throw the headset away, but something inside me told me to at least crack open the control box and find out if it can be repaired, if not, then it doesn't work anyway so no loss - but last night it was just too late to start work on that. So this morning I took it apart and found that the wires were good, but that was to be expected because the wires breakage would be in the cord. I stripped the cord and found the broken wires! GOOD NEWS!! So I clipped the wires, and striped them, desoldered the connection points, re-flowed the solder points, and rewired the headset.

PRESTO!!!
I'm Back!

I'd like to say "Thank you" to what I thought I heard was talk from some of the members in the room about sending money to replace my headset. Like I said, I think I heard that, but it was incredibly difficult to hear anyone properly. This was before I was able to locate my bluetooth headset. If I'm mistaken, no biggie and I offer my apology for my misunderstanding but it was damn near impossible to hear anyone. If I'm correct in what I heard, I cannot begin to express the positive vibe I feel from the group.

Okay, so now that has all been said, I'm going to clean up my mess and get ready to practice and offer some last minute tutoring.

If you set up a Paypal account or something, then I'm sure several of us would be more than happy to kick in some money in the future for headset replacement. Or ice cream.

I'm really sorry work interrupted me last night. I did atleast get to listen and watch while I was addressing their request. I hadn't given much time to the last corner, so I was just trying to apex in the middle of it. I'd tried that late apex on one of the hairpins at Tsukuba and liked it, so I'll try it at Deep Forest tonight.

Also, I can't turn in as late as you did on the first corner. And I wanted to work on that, but I got to thinking, maybe you are turning the wheel at the same point, but the car is turning later because it take several yards before things happen. I don't know.

I usually start turning at the beginning of the red and whites on the left side, and aim for the end of the red and whites exiting the corner.

Aside from that, just watching you and Mopar drive around, you guys are simply much more aggressive than I am. And I think that just comes down to car control and experience. I know if I dive into those corners at those speeds, I will slide too wide or the tail will step out. Rarely am I able to save the car once it starts to go, though I have gotten much better.

I keep meaning to just practice drifting not cause I have any care for it, but because I hope figuring out how to hold the car in the slide will help me recover during the race. I just never get around to it.

Before coaching...

S2000/Reverse 1.37
NSX/Cape Ring 3.24
Super Leggera/Daytona 2:02 (approx)

After coaching...

S2000/Reverse 1.30
NSX/Cape Ring 3.15
Super Leggera/Daytona 1.57 (with no practice time, really)

Yah, I'm not gonna win, but I'm gonna improve... and hopefully more...

You did hear correctly!:) With all the time you spent tutoring everyone its the least we could do. :)

It's been forever since I've used that, but I think I have it somewhere. I'll dig up the info and post it a later. While I was able to repair my headset, I'm going to get a new headset in the future, so that when and if it breaks again, I'll just jump over to that headset and continue tutoring.

I'm really sorry work interrupted me last night. I did atleast get to listen and watch while I was addressing their request. These things happen.

As for the late apex, you will need to practice it so it feels more natural for you. It's the faster line, but it's not the shortest line. You do need to be aware that there is more than one line through a turn.

Also, I can't turn in as late as you did on the first corner. And I wanted to work on that, but I got to thinking, maybe you are turning the wheel at the same point, but the car is turning later because it take several yards before things happen. I don't know.

Correct!

I usually start turning at the beginning of the red and whites on the left side, and aim for the end of the red and whites exiting the corner.

I hate to say this here, but I'm using the 'force' when I drive. For that turn, I don't have a "Turn-in Point" I can relay to you. It's more of a mental snapshot and when I approach the turn and see it, I make my turn-in.

Aside from that, just watching you and Mopar drive around, you guys are simply much more aggressive than I am. And I think that just comes down to car control and experience. I know if I drive into those corners at those speeds, I will slide too wide or the tail will step out. Rarely am I able to save the car once it starts to go, though I have gotten much better.

Yes, we are more aggressive, and Yes, it is because of car control and experience. The car will communicate with the driver but the driver needs to learn to listen. The game is good about giving you clues, but it's not the same as real life, but the clues are there, with video and audio. The more you play, practice, & race, the more you will start to pick on the clues. It will get easier. :)

I keep meaning to just practice drifting not cause I have any care for it, but because I hope figuring out how to hold the car in the slide will help me recover during the race. I just never get around to it.

Drifting taught me a lot about car control, and it's nice to have that skill to call upon when needed. There are times when a slight drift (Neutral Steering) (some call it 'God Hand' Technique) is faster than full grip when going through some turns. Drifting will teach you skid recovery, steering input control, throttle control and it will sharpen your reflexes! Drifting is an advanced form of driving and it's a lot like balance a knife on it's edge. It's easier with the controller than the wheel, but the wheel is so much more rewarding. If you can make the time to learn drifting, it will help you on so many fronts. 👍

Those are huge improvements! Great Work!! 👍 Keep it up and you will start moving up the ranks in no time. :)

I will not be racing again this week... I have been too busy this week and I don't even know what cars are up for tonight. I am free no so I will definitely be racing all week with everyone I can.

If youa re free now, I'm in the SNAIL_DIVISION1 Lounge. I'm about to start practicing - just as soon as my late lunch is ready.
Hmmm.. Corndogs! :sly:

Thank you. I'll look up my PayPal account info if you guys are serious about it.

For the record, I have been happy to share the knowledge I have with those who want it. I didn't spend the time expecting to be rewarded for it, other than to see the sector times & lap times of my students come down.

Thank You Fellas!

Okay, cool. I've just granted you access to the Google Doc. Let me know if you don't receive the invite. Also, I've updated the Director requirements so please take a look (added a note about tire restrictions). Let me know if you have any questions or just ask cmbeal317 since he's in D3 this week. He's got the process nailed down and is usually very helpful with hosting duties.

As for the points, just award the winner a number of points equal to the number of drivers on the track a the time the race ended. Therefore, last place will always get 1 point. Anyone who leaves the race for any reason gets no points.

I know you wanted to turn off penalties, but that's a discussion for another day. If we ever did that, we'd first have to test it out in a Wednesday practice session, so please just leave it on Weak (and effective for Free Run) for now. Thanks!

EDIT: Ninja'd by cheeb of course!

Hey Zero, i just want to make sure on this, at Cape Ring: While in the "Loop" there is the red painted ground, thats off limits to drive right? Im sure it is, being as its outside the white line painted on the ground aswell, but just double checking ;)

To the head of Division 3:
I just noticed that I was going to be racing in Division 3 tonight. I sent a friend request a few minutes ago. Sorry for not checking earlier.

Edit: Just saw that it was approved. Thanks, see you in a short while for the races. Also I will be using my brothers mic tonight so hopefully everyone will be able to hear me. If you need any help just let me know.:)

I believe so, but Zero or Diabolic is person to ask about this as they will hae the final word.

It's not in the second post. How many laps at Daytona?

Pretty sure it's 5 laps....that's what the practice on Wednesday nights have been if I recall rightly.

Where's the option to run the rookie stripe on the back bumper? I need that tonight

Yes, It's 5 laps.

Thank you for hosting. I left after first 4 races.

We were getting 3 of 9 racers finishing course repeatedly. I appreciate a learning curve, but ...

This wasn't fun for me. The cars and courses exceed my ability, and the frustration was more than I wanted to deal with tonight..

I freely admit, you guys are clearly better than me.

However, I have Spring Break ahead and the following Sunday with family.

See y'all after some recharged batteries.

Hey guys, I got disconnected from the lobby server as the 1st Daytona Road Course race was starting and I can not log back in to the PSN. I keep getting an error message. :grumpy:

Division 1 is hard work to compete in! Lots of talent. I guess I had better practice more for next week. Good racing tonight everyone. Sorry again diabolic for the yellow line incident

Here are the preliminary results from tonight's action. Mighty_mopar is once again the overall winner, although ADR_BRONCO is proving to be a serious top contender. AJK-VAIL edged out tcrash15 by a single point for the D2 win. In Division 3, Lookbeer had a solid performance and beat out tezgm99 for the D3 crown.

Division 1

8th: Jellis1 ---------------- voted to eliminate Round 2
9th: The__Reaper --------- voted to eliminate Round 2
10th: Handlebar-Man ------ voted to eliminate Round 2

The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 2 - Acura NSX '91 @Cape Ring
Therefore it has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since Mighty_mopar selected Prize A, he gets to decide which car and track will replace it.

The round that received the second most votes was:
Round 3 - Amuse NISMO 380RS Super Leggera @Road Course - Daytona
Therefore, either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since ADR_BRONCO selected Prize B, so he gets to decide which is replaced and what replaces it.

M1SS-D3V10US got Prize C, so she gets any car he wants (up to $999,999).

Hey bowler, was I responsible for your off on the last race? In game I didnt hear anything. I knew I was very close to you but in my screen it looked like you ran wide. However, when I reviewed that race, I could hear and see the contact on the chase cam. in the replay, it looked like you were able to hold on after the touch, as the off happened a little ways after. But the replays show others kinda glitchy at best and so I ask you for the verdict. If its the case that I did put you off I'd like to forfeit my points on the last race, pending Bowlers reply.
That said, what a crazy night last night was. Great racing! Very close. Especially in the front. Being a steward is kinda neat, since you really get to see the whole race. However, the more people in the race, the glitchier everyone moves in the replay, so any decision made from these races I think should be deliberated between the steward, director and persons involved in private before a public announcement is made. I think this will help mitigate aggravated banter on this thread as well.

Awesome pic! You guys couldn't have lined up more evenly if you tried! It looks like a car commercial, but I wonder if Microsoft gets a royalty check for the use of their default Windows desktop background..

It took a lot of laps but I really grew to like them both. Cape Ring had pretty much every turn that a person can think of and the NSX was just about the right speed for it. Something about the NSX and I get along pretty well. Occasionally, though, it would just decide to step out despite the fact that you were doing what seemed identical to what you did in every lap before that.

I never noticed it before last night, but does anyone else feel like there's a near-imperceptible bump right in the middle of the Cape's carousel? That threw me a few times last night.
