No dirt tracks near me but a few miles down the road is a 1/4 mile oval. I can hear them racing from my porch. It's a good take on a warm summer evening. They have a few serious classes but the best is when they destroy cars in the "flagpole race". Basically the put a tire in the middle of the front straight and everyone has to drive around it each lap. Hilarity and carnage ensues...

That is some crazy stuff. I'd imagine there are some heated battles after the race too?

Most of the drivers are under the age of 16 at these events and those that aren't don't show up with anything they expect to drive home...in fact they probably have a trailer waiting to take the cars to the junk yard.

Hello SNAIL Racing. I would very much like to join your league. I have been playing since GT3 and always wanted to try something like this to become a better racer. I am mature and a polite gamer and I meet all the requirements except for one. That is, I know your whole thing is racing on Sundays and its even in the name of the league, but I have some commitments on Sundays that would not allow me to race. Are there any other weekday events that you have so I can join just to race a few others? Thanks and I look forward to your reply! PSN danfurey

There are plenty of events that go on during the week. Shame I can't participate in any of them as I work during that time.

@danfurey,
Thanks for your interest!
We would love to have you in the league.
Please see the bolded type at the bottom of my post for weekday events.
That said, here is what you need to know and do in order to join Sunday night racing if you choose:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the S.N.A.I.L. OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide.
Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You take the S.N.A.I.L. OLR and Racecraft Test

2. You run the Time Trial and submit your information by midnight EST on Saturday night if you want to race this Sunday.

3. @JLBowler PM's you with your assigned Division that we feel will give you the closest competition. You will be added to the drivers list.

4. The Race Director or Primary Host from the corresponding SNAIL Division will send you a PSN friend request. Sunday night you will need to sort the online lobbies by friends and join the lobby named 'snailracing.org Division_(x) based off your Division placement from JLBowler. That lobby will be where you race Sunday.

5. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

The original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread.

If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.
To avoid duplication, the currently claimed combinations can be found here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.

Welcome to S.N.A.I.L.

If he has no desire or ability to race on Sunday nights then he really doesn't need to run a time trial. If he (or anyone) is interested in running the various other series that we have, then they need to visit that thread and let their interest be known and start racing there.

I just order my G27 wheel cant wait for Tuesday to come. I'm so stoked I'm doing cartwheels down the street.:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:G27
Prepare to suck! Especially if you are coming from the ds3. But once the big suck passes, it is sooooo much better. Whatcha got for mounting?

So I went to the Auto Show today. Toyota had a cockpit setup thing with their new concept vehicle (I forget what it's called... FT-1 or something?) and GT6. I did a couple boring laps because it was on Daytona tri-oval layout and it was 2 laps. They should at least hook up the other cockpit(s) to do a LAN race (probably not possible with GT6 yet). The GT5 setup that they had last year was better, IMO... I don't remember the car (Mustang?) but it was on High Speed Ring which is way better than an oval course. Oh well.

Then Honda had Civic Si/Forza 5 cockpit setup. It was terrible. The pedals/wheel were some $20 special with no force feedback, and I think they had it set to have the game automatically brake when you approach a turn or something. That + the crappy Forza physics = a really bad time. Let's just say that I'm looking forward to this Sunday's SNAIL race with my setup now more than ever.

I was going to do the big Ford off-road race thing but I did that the last year or two and the line was too long today.

Mazda did have a nice rFactor spec Miata/Laguna Seca with moving cockpit and triple monitors. I'm not sure if it's new but I didn't notice it last year or the year before. Now that was fun. If you go to the Auto Show, I highly recommend you seek that out. It's not a huge setup like Ford or bright red and shiny like Honda/Toyota (it pretty much looks like a photo booth) so keep your eyes open. The girl getting everyone set up in the cockpit was pretty hot too.

Howdy Folks,
Got the New Rig all set up and raring to take it for a spin tonight.
Hope some Snails are around that want to practice the 2/9 Combos.
Will be in a Snail room after dinner.
Feels like an eternity since the power went out on the old rig.

Anyone else watching the 12-hour at Bathhurst? It's major down pouring and all the teams are on race slicks. They are stuggling to maintain control at 40 kmh. Insane...

Link to live coverage

Correction: I guess that was the 2013 race they are showing, but nonetheless impressive.

I'm watching now. Quali #2 in ~40 minutes.

So I just finished my time trial on Laguna seca and submitted
The form. Went and purchased the cars needed for the series...just a quick question, I know we can't tune the cars, are we allowed to change wheels?

You can change wheels to any size you would like. I also need a couple more posts if you know what I'm saying over here.

Good to know since I was also getting ready to start "The Game" myself. Under the circumstances, I am cool with somewhere near since you called shotgun first!

That's quite helpful. I will add another piece of helpful information here for @basswerks. You can't do any aero mods to your car even if it doesn't add PP to the car.
