@Jose Torres,
Thanks for your interest!
We would love to have you in the league. Here's what you need to know and do in order to join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the S.N.A.I.L. OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide.
Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You take the S.N.A.I.L. OLR and Racecraft Test

2. You run the Time Trial and submit your information by 23:59 EST on Saturday night if you want to race this Sunday.

3. @JLBowler PM's you with your assigned Division that we feel will give you the closest competition. You will be added to the drivers list.

4. The Race Director or Primary Host from the corresponding SNAIL Division will send you a PSN friend request. Sunday night you will need to sort the online lobbies by friends and join the lobby named 'snailracing.org Division_(x) based off your Division placement from JLBowler. That lobby will be where you race Sunday.

5. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

The original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread.

If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.
To avoid duplication, the currently claimed combinations can be found here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.

Welcome to S.N.A.I.L.

And I am going to bed. See you next friday if I can stay up.
That's too bad. :( I won't be able to race next week, but feel free to race without me.
Save a spot for me zero
Will do! Room number coming up!
Hey @zer05ive I'm interested in racing in the mystic racing tonight and I'm wondering if it's just clutch and H-pattern gearing aloud?
Sorry, only H-pattern and clutch is allowed. :(

The Mystic Car for the evening is:

1 - Alfa Romeo MiTo 1.4 T Sport '09

We're be lapping for a bit so feel free to join in before qualifying starts. 👍

March Update

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The March season is upon us and division movements have been completed. Thanks to all of the P & R team and the data specialists! This month was not nearly as hectic as it has been in the past but there have been a few changes.

We have added a new row for practice night hosts. If you are or have been a regular practice night host, please let me know via PM so I can add your name to the roster. @Wolfsatz is still acting coordinator but it would also be nice to have a back up for that position.

We have added a few more members in back up primary and back up positions and are stating to see more members in the official division photographer jobs.

Team S.N.A.I.L. is getting better and better every month. It takes a huge amount of effort to run 9 divisions and you guys are what makes this all work. From my count we have 46 members of the Team. Just outstanding!

There are still several positions that need to be covered. Please take a few minutes and see if there is something you can do to support our League! With this, all members should take a look and make sure I have everyone where they should be. I am sure I have missed something.

Once more, I have to thank everyone on Team S.N.A.I.L. for all of the hard work they put in to make our League the best!

cheers.gif

My apologies. Meant to be there for this one, the wife had different plans. Although I will say, with the car that got picked, which I don't have, I'm not altogether disappointed I had something else to do. Maybe next time.

You should of join the room that was already open... still slots available.
Call it a noob mistake......I checked all three tracks before posting and did not see any snail events except for an enduro practice. Glad I found yall, it was good practice for me. Lots of really fast guys in there. Nice meeting all of you. Pretty cool @gt_adam_us stopped by too, too bad he didn't get a chance to race. Good luck Sunday.

I had an idea for prize C last night. 💡 What if we gave prize C a "freeze play" by which I mean they can choose a part(track or car) to stay, or freeze, for combo B. This would actually be a prize instead of just the tie breaking vote, which rarely happens.
So if you win prize C you can have a say in what part of combo B stays, the track or the car.

What do you guys think about the prize C freeze play?
I like it, but I think it's pretty similar to what @Handlebar suggested back in January with this post. Let me know if there's a difference that I'm overlooking though. Either way, I liked the idea both then and now and would be willling to try it out if that's what the general consensus was. It just seemed to fizzle out last time and didn't go anywhere. However, it did get a lot closer to implementation than @varga's suggestion!

I heard you suggest this last night, but I don't have a mic, so I couldn't respond. The part about this I don't like about is that from my perspective, prize C seems to have more "power" than prize B would. Being able to tell the prize B winner what they need to replace. It is a good idea though and I agree we should find a better reward for prize C winners.
I'm betting most don't know this, but we actually let the prize winners pick which prize they wanted. Back then, we only had one or two divisions so the prize winners were always 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place of the top division. So for example, 1st place in D1 could choose Prize A, Prize B, or Prize C. Then 2nd place could choose one of the two prizes remaning, while 3rd place would just get whichever prize was left. In fact, after our very first race (when we only had one division), the 2nd place finisher opted to choose Prize C (a free car) even though Prize B was still available for him to choose.

I guess what I'm getting at is that we could theoretically let the Prize B winner choose whether he wanted to "freeze" a car or track or whether he wanted to select a new car or track. In other words, he could choose whether or not he wanted Prize B or the newly proposed Prize C. That being said, the reason we started assigning the prizes was because 9 times out or 10, the prizes were picked in the order of Prize A, Prize B, and then Prize C. So just assigning them allowed us to speed up the whole process but not making everyone wait for the prize winners to select which prize they wanted.

I didn't want this to get lost amidst the iracing talk. coach, I see it as not taking away from prize B, because they can only change 1 part anyway, but making the selection easier. Prize B still has the "power" to choose anything with in reason, where as prize C can only freeze the car or track. I don't see that as C being more powerful.
I think the "freeze" power is less desirable of a prize or at lest less "fun", but the ability to "freez" is perhaps more strategic. Either way, it would be easier to decide one way or another and lock in Prize B and Prize C so that there isn't any confusion as to who gets to "freeze" and who gets to pick.

I disagree with you here Goat. Having the capability to limit choices will always trump making a choice.

For instance.

You can chose anything from category A or B. No wait, now, you can only choose from category B.

Either way you look at it, the Prize C reward, without being able to share cars, paints and other game items, needs a bit of a boost to be worth the trouble.
So are you saying that you think Prize B should be able to "freeze" and Prize C should be able to replace the "unfrozen" car/track?

But yeah, I admit that Prize C is a bit lame when it rarely means anything at all. If we did in fact adopt this newly proposed Prize C, I would suggest removing the tie-breaking vote from it altogether. Instead, I would suggest that a tie be broken by allowing all three prize winners votes to count. Since three is an odd number, the tie would still be guaranteed to be broken. 👍

Anyone remember my proposed exhibition events for the Super Bowl? I'm thinking about actually doing them today.

The combos are:

Ford Focus ST '13 @ Willow Springs Streets of Willow (SH tires)

Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray '14 @ Laguna Seca (SH tires)

SRT Viper (both versions will be allowed) '13 @ Daytona Road Course (SM tires) with an added twist.

And of course, the races will play out just like an actual S.N.A.I.L. event.

The points will not matter. Yes, they are just the likelihood of a premium upgrade of the Supra being added to GT6 anytime soon.

I do need a few to join me in a test lobby to see how many laps to run, I never did bother to test that. I'm thinking right around 11:30 AM ET.

I didn't realize handle had made that suggestion, go prize C freeze!

I like this idea too. It makes sense that C get the "freeze play" because it only gives them 2 options. Regardless of what C chooses, B has much larger variety of options in terms of either tracks or cars, while making Prize C much more relevant.

The idea to let B pick if they get the "freeze play" or the new car/track selection is a good idea to add onto this, since sometimes the prize B winner will think - oh I just really want car X to stay around. Or maybe they just love Spa and dont car if the car changes. Regardless, it gives them the power to make whatever decision they desire (they cant be boxed in from making any type of selection by prize C). Only drawback is that this brings in one more level of "inform, wait, and see" to the process of making new combos, involving both winners of B and C.

I support anything the league veterans will support though, you guys have certainly done a good job working out a nice setup here. ;)

So I'm back in D3! Funny that when I got demoted to D4 I was kinda pissed because as in fact I had a terrible month of January due to combos that didn't fit my driving I tried to show that I had been in D3 for the longest time with pretty good steady results but someone was prompt to throw me the cold numbers of January so I just shut my mouth and rested my case. One month later numbers decided to show that I am in fact a D3 racer.
Anyways, I would like to thank you all D4 guys for the awesome battles we had especially to IINOVAII who showed me that I could be faster in NurbI loved to be your race director and hope to race you guys again soon.

So are you saying that you think Prize B should be able to "freeze" and Prize C should be able to replace the "unfrozen" car/track?
Yes and no. No matter which way you order it, the one will be waiting on the other.

But yeah, I admit that Prize C is a bit lame when it rarely means anything at all. As there are 3 combos being voted on, there still exists, from a mathematical standpoint, the possibility of a tie, even though it would be 3 way. I don't think that's happened yet, but, it could. Or, do you mean, in the case of a 2 way tie, those 3 votes would count, and otherwise would not?

Word! I actually like this idea Goat, and with zer0s added twist I think it should at least be agreeable to the only 2 naysayers.

Joo callin' me a naysayer dood? ;)

Not really naysaying, and since I'm rarely in line for a prize, I don't really have a dog in this particular fray anyway, just saying what I think. Pointing out some possible problems.

What about this? After Prize B picks what to replace and with what, Prize C can chose to leave the combo as is or change the half Prize B decided not to? This, like the freeze plan, would also drag out combo selection and have one prize waiting on the other.

Interested in anything that will let us focus on cars/tracks/racing instead of hoping we don't get disconnected AGAIN
Owens - any problems with iRacing that you've seen so far?

It has worked flawlessly for me. I never think about connection.

The rookie license phase can have its road bumps with other drivers.

@Dragonwhisky the pay style service does have its draw backs. Well only one really. That paying real money. However what you get for that is a stable and incredible racing service.

As for content. We can easily set up a league that wouldn't cost a lot up front and progress into different cars and tracks.

Fixed set ups are pretty decent on most cars I've driven.

The GT3 series has a few tuners sharing tunes that are really good. One in specific really knows their stuff and shares weekly.

SNAIL could easily develop a league that would bring amazing racing with nearly zero connection problems.

With the changes in divisional promotion and relagation, D7 is in need of a few positions; back up host/director and scorekeeper with @goofytyler moving to D6. I would like to do the scorekeeping and if @tevesh2 doesn't mind, I'd like to be the data specialist as well. I feel I had a pretty good system while I did it in D8 that was quick and efficient. I can also be the backup replay uploader as well. In summary;

D7 backup host/director - Needed (@wvhellbilly?)
D7 scorekeeper - @KTR5
D7 data specialist - @tevesh2 (and @KTR5 as primary or backup, depending if @tevesh2 wants to let me do it)
D7 backup replay uploader - @KTR5
D7 photographer - @KTR5 to add some photos along with @BayouSimDrifter who is the primary

I'm really excited to have been moved up, so thanks to @JLBowler for believing I can do it. And to be moved up with my closest rivals from D8 @speer9892003 @wvhellbilly and @Sharkb8ii makes it even better.

I'm already director but you can take over photographer. Fyi I'm out of town this weekend so someone will need to host for this week.

Right, I said we needed a back up host / director. @wvhellbilly was ours in D8, but I'm pretty sure he won't be available this weekend either.

As for taking over photography duties, I like your pics as well. I don't think it would be too much if we both did some. Maybe I won't post 15-20 pics now, rather in the 5-10 range. We'll see how it goes.

If you're just wanting to send short messages via twitter, wouldn't google translate function?
Ahh crap, I totally forgot about the 140 character limit! (which is embarrassing considering how often I have to edit tweets so that they will fit under the 140 character limit :ouch:).. Since Twitter won't be able to fit the message I would want to send unless multiple tweets were sent (far from ideal), does anyone else have an idea on how we could send messages to Kaz would know for sure that he saw them? I already checked facebook, but from what I can tell, he doesn't have an account there (at least not publicly). :(

I am back home. I can be the backup host for D7. I'm going to try to get some practice in today and tomorrow. I haven't even bought the cars for this week yet. Really need some racing!
Looking forward to racing in D7!

D8 needs pretty much every position filled.

I see that... and how's that going? Do we even have a host for tomorrow?

At this very moment I'm having lunch with my wife and son in the beautiful and colorful town of Niagara Falls at the RainForest Café, a place you all should visit if you get the chance.
Regarding D3, if there's any need of help I can do scorekeeping, replay upload and data entry. Let me know if help is needed.
