Which car is it going to be? I've already started the process of breaking in the car, and now we're changing it? I need clarification, please.

EDIT:

Yeah, that video is classic! Epic driving skill, but it could have gone terribly bad several times. Then again, that's what makes it so awesome I guess.

Btw, what would be the benefit of being able to by zero mile standard cars in the UCD? Is that in regards to possible car selections for the league or just something in general you'd like to see in the game?

*The official lineup has been updated again. Please let me know if anyone sees something that doesn't look right*

Not Cool, not cool.

Esh had already made his announcement, it wasn't like he was correction an typo, he changed the car entirely. Not Cool! :banghead:

For selections. Well, I guess mainly this car, or any they've updated the interior view being available always somehow. UCD wouldn't really work even if zero mile because of the cycle it runs.

Oh okay, the comment about zero miles threw me off because I thought you might be hinting that cars with zero miles would be able to obtain a different level of performance after break-in versus used cars (that already miles on it).

But yeah, how incredible would it be (for our league at least) if we could buy any car in the game at any time we wanted?! Our Prize A and Prize B winners would literally have 1,000+ cars to choose from without having to worry about the UCD, or the OCD, or whatever!

Here's a nice quote from Kaz that might make it clear why you can't do that. It's an old quote, but it shows his mindset.

Kikizo: "Could you give us your opinion on Forza MotorSport 2 for the Xbox 360, and in particular, the ability to reskin your car in very great detail - are you going to have this degree of superficial car customisation in GT5?"

Yamauchi: "Straight off the bat, I think that in terms of feature sets, Forza is ahead of us. They have more options, you can do basically anything. We take a different approach obviously - we try to concentrate on what are the core values for a racing game, and we try to elevate those standards up as high as we possibly can. I am having difficulty trying to explain the differences, but one way you can look at it is, you can buy a watch that is super multifunctional, but economical, or a watch that is reduced in functions, but premium - higher end."

Okay, last shameless plug:

My new project doesn't start until July, but we will probably have a draft in the next week or so. This Friday, in SNAIL_Division2 (since I don't think anyone is using it this Friday), we will have some little races in cars from the Recommended garage. Just a chance for the drivers to show off for the tuners. We will probably race in some cars that handle a little differently, on some pretty standard tracks.

If you are interested, please post in the other thread. Like I said, we may draft in the next week or so, so I want to firm up the participant list.

FWIW, used cars/OCD cars don't require break-in. Oil change will do it. And had Vol not mentioned it, we may have all practiced with a car that possibly won't be available tomorrow. At least you get to practice with the right car, broken in or not.

Zero mile so we have everyone starting on the same page and not have to worry about refreshing the car etc.

...and where is that the announcement stating that in this forum? It looks more like someone changed their mind AFTER THE FACT. That's what I'm upset about.

Vol mentioned it as a possibility. I figured the best bet for everyone was to go with the alternative as to not screw anyone. I'm sorry you're upset but it couldn't be any less of a big deal as the races tonight do not count and I don't see anyone else complaining. Unless they're off trying to break in the Caterham...

Hey Devious, I think you missed Vol's post stating that the OCD is supposed to refresh tomorrow which might not give everyone enough time to get a Caterham. That's why esh switched to the premium Lotus.

That being said, I think the Seven would be a blast! :)

Edit: Double ninja'd!

Haha. Ocd dud update tonight. Glad that the lotus was the back up. Nothing but Chevy in there now.

A lot of pretty cool Chevys if you ask me, but anyway, I just did the new seasonal, and it gave me a ticket for a Camaro SS RM '10, I don't want it, already have one, what Snail lobby gets the gifts?

There is no need for individual car gifts–premiums, anyway. Tickets are the only thing being piled up.

I'll admit that the '63 Corvette Race Car might've been a fun ride. Maybe next week. ;)

Thanks Glenn! You can send the ticket over to the D1 account please. The D1 lounge is where the Prize C winner would have raced in so that's why we're using that account as the collection depot for all of the Prize C gifts.

Speaking of which.. Mopar, please let me know what ticket you want to pick for your Prize C. The list of the available prizes is here.

No problem.

I also like the other '63 and the '54. Those late '90 and early '00 never did much for me, visually. The older ones look nice, but maybe that is because... I am old? :sly:

Any chance of me getting in on some action today? I'm in UK, and amount of hours from now till you race would be helpful :) Oh and car to bring 👍

Hello sir! Please read the entire first post to this thread. It has literally all of the information you're seeking.

Noticed that as well. I think maybe we do need to build a surplus of Caterhams (preferably zero mile) though because, if given the chance again, I will be picking it @ some point. It's a great car and Spa would be a fun track to drive it on. I did a few laps last night there in it and was only about 6-10 seconds off my fastest F430 times.

I hope people will enjoy the Elise RM. Really stable and easy to drive, which should make for some tight races across divisions.

Also, Nic is still really fast... :scared:

And zer0, 4 laps will work @ Spa I think. Total times were around 11+ mins last night with laptimes averaging 2:44-ish.

after being used to the Ferrari, The lotus almost feels like a kart on that course. It is going to be a fun combo for sure.
Hey people, be sure to give yourself some practice before Sunday with this combo. Don't wait for sunday's qualifying round to practice it.

We're going to need to figure out a more definitive process if you're going to allow standard cars to be selected for league night. We used to not allow non-premium cars at all simply because premiums are the only cars that could be purchased by anyone at anytime. However, we started allowing cars from the OCD because we figured they would be available to purchase easily until the list was refreshed. The problem is that is a car from the OCD is not voted out before it's removed from the OCD, it will be hard for new members to purchase it. I know many people have offered to stockpile cars in this scenario, but we should a more formal system of doing this IMO.

Also, no picking OCD cars unless you know the OCD list isn't going to refresh before Sunday!

Thanks for the reminder. I've updated the lineup so that Round 3 is set at 4 laps. I also watched the replays of both Round 1 races from last night and see that 6 laps was perfect so I've marked that as well. 👍

I'd really like to allow selecting any car, Premium or Standard. There are so many good cars in the Standard car dealerships.

I posted a site a while back that will tell you exactly which day any car will show up in the UCD. From there it's a simple matter of going through the license tests to advance to the day the car will show up. I know it's not ideal but it is a relatively painless way to get a car you need/want. I used it to complete my Standard car collection.

I know I'll probably get shot down, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

I never know when the OCD is going to refresh, I wait for Vol to tell us :)
