I loved this game , I had a version where the track disappeared in front of you , you had to guess/time everything
This was my favorite racing game when I was a kid. Then again, I raced motocross during this time as well.

Forgot Centipede and Asteroids... Asteroids was a blast on the harder levels

@CoachMK21

I still play that on my Nintendo 3DS

There really are so many though.

@CoachMK21 Yeah, I spent a lot of time on that, RC Pro AM and Micro Machines. Not sure if any of you watch people playing games on youtube, But I watch a group call YogCast and Hat Films. Ive been watching the Hat Films guys play a game called Trials Evolution. It reminds me of a modern Excitebike.

Oh throwback Thursday, lots of nostalgia for an elder geek like me ;)

Serious nerd cred to who can name the obscure racing game and console (hint it was also an arcade game) from the below pic. I played the hack outta this one:

Being as young as I am (15) I was not blessed with all the older games. But my father did have a Sega Dreamcast and we played everything from Crazy Taxi to Sonic the Hedgehog.
But this game was what got me into racing. (Bonus points to who can name it)

You are playing test drive, this was one of the very first "sim" racers. I can remember playing the original when I was in like 6th grade. That was 1995ish.
Fizzer, correct me if I am wrong, but that looks like Virtua Racer. Made by Sega, I believe it did make it to the Genesis console though.
A series I would like to see rebooted.

I'd say I spent almost as much time on this game as I did on the original GT.

my favorite game has to be penziol world of outlaws ps2 great game i wish they make a new one or anything dirt even BIG BLOCK MODS BE COOL. u think they would since nascar in few years will be filled by dirt track drivers. pavement is for getting to the track DIRT IS FOR RACING

I spent a lot of time playing this as well. Before I left for the Army, there was a Gameworks at the local mall, Great Lakes Crossing. Every Thursday they would do dollar wells and drafts, and $10 to play from 7 till close. This is where I shacked up most of the time. Getting pissed and drifting like crazy.

You were given a card, and you could swipe it to keep your stats saved. They even had a couple of these for a while.

Some familiar, albeit flawed recreations of tracks:
Long beach
Spa
Silverstone
Monaco
Suzuka
Monza

And another that always bores into my brain stem:

And for @TomMang_68 spiritual successor to road rash: http://www.roadredemption.com

Daytona USA was actually pretty cool when you played against up to (8?) racers? I remember it was kind of expesive like a dollar to play instead of the usual quarter.

I have the game at home still. Haven't played it in a while as the laser needs replaced. But I can check with Virtua Racer

I'm not tech savvy enough for the pics but who remembers/played Zaxxon & Crystal Castle? Those were favorites of ours in high school when we would go too the arcade.

Zaxxon was revolutionary.. one of the 1st game to offer a 3D feel. That was an awesome game. not familiar with the 2nd one.
You pilot an attack shuttle whose mission is to strafe the enemy's "Asteroid City". Destroy fuel tanks, gun implacements, missiles, fighters and a large enemy robot. The game uses an isometric three-quarters perspective that was a unique concept to arcade games of that era.

only 19.99 for the PS Vita game... anyone has played this?

Total Klassic.

The newer 'Injustice: Gods Among Us' is really good, basically Mortal Kombat with DC characters (seriously, Scorpion from MK is in it). The story mode was actually pretty awesome! It's available for every console at the moment...

or that demolition derby game only played that at ceder point it had big wagons does anybody remember that one. i put a hundred dollars in that game in one day and broke it .lol never seen it after that and spent alot of summers there
