Can you say what exactly alerted the mods to Birdy's AUP violation in the first place? Was it not capitalizing the first letters of sentences, cursing or capitalizing all the letters of a word?

I am curious because I am a big proponent of enforcing all the rules for everyone equally. Not finding a problem child and picking on them. On this page alone there are six posts by various people that do not follow proper capitalization rules.

I assume the mods just wait for someone to be reported and then warn them. So someone here reported Birdy for something?

I am not pointing at you because you obviously bent over backwards for Birdy. I am interested in the process. When there are obviously violations here all the time...6 on this page alone...what gets someone noticed in the first place and eventually warned?

Not trying to be a pain in your ass this time (like my usual) just wondering how this played out.

That sure looks like the first system I ever had. I was only 5, but I remember games like Berserk, Q-Bert, and who could ever forget Space Invaders and Asteroids!

Well, for once, I am not being snarky or sarcastic like my usual. I am honestly being sincere in asking how something like this played out.

Usually I go out of my way to be a pain in the side of some people here but not right now. I do see that zero really went out of his way to keep Birdy in the group. But how/why did the mods get alerted?

To be fair, in terms of coming down on him, he did start breaking the rules within 48 hours of being allowed back in the thread, repeatedly......

Spelling and grammar is something that we expect to be used properly here. There have been too many instances where I've had to read a post 3 times before I can even begin to understand the hieroglyphics. It may sound a bit harsh to some, but we shouldn't have to try to decode posts. Most of the time these mistakes are from laziness. I can't tolerate that kind of laziness, and I doubt the mods tolerate it any more than I do since they have to deal with it every day on this forum.
 
Decoding is one thing, but not capitalizing the first word of a sentence shouldn't be reported...since 6 posts on the previous page break that rule. I'm sure none were reported.

Cursing, on the other hand, I can see reporting that. But how was the censor circumvented?

I don't judge others for things like misspelled words and capitalization errors because it is usually just not a lot of people's strength. My wife can't spell to save her life but she went to college...but not for English :) Does it irk me when people confuse brake and break? Your and you're? To and too? Sure, but it's just not their strength so reporting them would only be a source of alienation. It won't turn an adult into a good speller. My wife is great at many things, just not spelling. I don't make fun of her for it, I love her for it as well as everything else :)

Anyways...I guess the cursing got him in the initial hot water. His reaction and general attitude after that is what sank the ship. I hope it wasn't capitalization errors that sank the ship.
 
I got to miss thursday night practice because I was a passenger in a traffic accident, yay xD

Right after we spent 8hrs fixing it, too. This is why I don't like being a passenger.
 
@JoeW, @Schmiggz - No one reported Birdy, so you can drop that false assumption right now. Ironically, you have Schmiggz to thank for why I watch this thread so closely. He was reported for calling names a while back and I subscribed to the thread to make sure needless drama didn't ensue. Within a day of starting to read the thread I saw what an amazing group you have here, so stayed subscribed for personal reasons, and not because I was on a witchhunt. None of the mods here are like that, by the way. I was there when Birdy started with you guys and I've ignored his (and other users') lack of punctuation, etc because A) we have to pick our battles, and B) as a fellow GTP league admin I cut some slack to our peers who enjoy GT online racing, especially with the high amount of post traffic this thread gets. If I tried to correct all the small AUP violations I see on a daily basis I'd have burned out long ago. When Birdy finally misspelled a swear word in 2 separate posts to bypass the swear filter, I did what I normally wouldn't do. Usually I'd just hand out the warning for something that blatant, but instead I sent him a PM saying I edited the swears to 🤬's and also asked him to please try to use his Shift key. That was met with "I'm not changing and sorry for the swearing" (paraphrasing). I let zer0 handle it from there.

This is 5% about Birdy's posting style and 95% him being stubborn.

Awesome. Answers everything perfectly. I've never reported or felt the need to report anyone so I have no idea how many petty reported violations you guys actually get.

This is a good pot to watch. It will actually boil as you watch :)

I have an Orville Redenbacher popcorn popper which is the hot air blower style. Delicious. Pops almost every kernel, no mess and you can choose the type of kernels you want :)

Good times racing in red room tonight. Lots of great battles with other drivers...mostly in the back though...lol
I need to improve my starts. I'm either going too slow or being too careful going into first corner, that's where I get passed a lot or bumped.

Like all the combos though and if I messed up anyone's race I apologize.

I hopped on after the Red Room closed and this was my 4th lap. It's completely unrealistic, but I think it's a fun one. Probably because it's super easy to drive. You just have to be small / gentle with the steering inputs.
