Yes, my original post with a time of 1:50 was done on sport softs, before I was made aware that the tire type is determined by dealer pp. I re-ran a few laps and edited my original post with my correct time on sport mediums at 1:53.0. Sorry for the confusion. Car still had the same feel, just a bit more loose.

Meh...... To each his own. Because of my lack of skill in the league, I find myself racing myself al lot. Hence, no fun. This way, I can catch the back of the pack, but that's it. As far as I understand it, GT5 had an awful boost system where the last car would be propelled to the front with the boost. Not anymore, they have honed the physics just enough for a car that has left the track to have a little extra speed to catch the back of the pack. From then on, you are on your own. The boost is not that extreme, after a minor shunt the other night on the High Speed Ring, it took me 4 perfect laps to catch up. Once I caught the pack, I still couldn't advance above 12th. We have fun fun fun till Daddy takes the Miata away.

Boost is the same now as it was in gt5, in my opinion anyway and like I said I lived on boost races for quite some time( and was always hounded about the setting, but it worked for me at that time)

Can my fellow snails drop me a few G27 set up links please?! I'd super appreciate knowing a good starting point? Is this normal for so much wheel feedback. Not what I was expecting! Looks like I'm in for a new learning curve, just after I've managed to get my son potty trained!

Thinking your numbers might be off a little there. I'm showing the BMW M3 GTR '03 with 497PP/374HP on the showroom floor. Since I own this car, but I have yet to check if it's painted in my SNAIL colors, I'd be willing to bet we have raced it at some point in the last year.

Disregard that we have raced it. I haven't painted it so it would appear you are correct. Must have had to buy it to open up some other car.

I just verified by buying a new one. Numbers as Dragon quoted are correct so I hope we all refer to the same car

I researched the you know what out of this car as it's been one of my all time favs since GT5. I couldn't believe it's never been picked. I have five different tuned versions.

Interesting note: He had a few awesome combo's that have never been raced.

I just went through (and still am) learning the G27 myself. After messing with the settings for quite a while I now use FF 10/7 with power assist ON , thats what I finally settled on. I came from a DFGT

If you dont like the super high feedback try 4/6 , I ran that for a while but just didnt have the feel I was looking for.

Also I settled on the 670 steering lock degree setting for most cars (hold start select and circle after wheel calibrates)

And last but not least spend the 30 bucks on the GTEye brake spring , Well worth it!

Ah... "Lola" is home again... :cheers: - a new alternator, new and mightily improved brake pads, new brake fluid/bleeding, a backup set of brake pads for any surprise changes at the track, and a lead on a spare set of rims for regular driving use, and approval from the boss for R-Spec or super-sticky-Summer tires - the summer (and road legal) tires are probably my best choice.

I'll put in the racing seats and Brey-Krause reinforcing bar later this spring. Looking at maybe upgrading front brakes to Boxster stuff later in summer. Things are looking up! ;)

Only two months and a smidge until the new season begins... 👍
Lola....that reminds me , in a previous life time I had a Lola T200 FF and a crew of fellow USAF guys who crewed me and LOLA. Lola was a much priceyer girl than my ole Lotus. Parts were VERY expensive and ammounted to a significant drain on my purse. I bitched about it to the guys who being not financially involved just did all the work in silence...until we got to the next race which was at Road America. They all went to the loo and came back in uniform ( we had no uniforms). All had official Lola Tee shirts with the car # on the front over the Lola Emblem and with WHAT LOLA WANTS, LOLA GETS on the back.
Sure , fun every now and then , but nothing beats racing in a league of clean snail racers without a boost aid to keep me close to the leader
Best not to cast aspersions...besides it is clean SNAIL racing, and I for one am.....never mind.
I agree that boost racing is good practice. IMO it's not good "racing" in all scenarios. It seems the racing it provides it heavily dependent on the track. Boost seems to make it more difficult to set somebody up because sometimes it's literally impossible to build a gap. I was very aggravated at inner cape not too long ago for this reason. I respect the concept, but it's not my cup if tea for racing. If I could wrap my head around it being "practice" I could enjoy it, but if there's a lap count, I'm racing.
BUT ....there is no lap count....LOL. We race for a 20 minute period....and then we do it again....and then we change tracks and...do it again...and again.

AND...boost racing IS NOT appropriate for powerful cars. In the case of the miata ,its so much fun to drive at the limit...and it is VERY maneuverable ....but of more importance IT IS FORGIVABLE..so the amateur can find the limit and live to see the next corner. It is just like slow a prop trainer is to a fighter pilot. It allows the proper progression from rookie to rookie with a clue without 6 or 12 Sunday night races. Imho EVERY driver coming into SNAIL , should be obligated to spend an evening with our guys on Monday nights just as a proper intro to SNAIL racing. Starts, first turns, close driving, etc.

And when Mike implied that we are a rough crowd...not true. Just for grins I took Monday's replay from the second (epic) race at Spa and looked at it from a Steward's eye. We had joked after the race that there would be 37 IRs . IF I was reviewing the entire race ( which a steward would rarely if ever, do) trolling for IRs....I found none of note except among the three new guys ( non snails) who were , shall we say, uniniated in the art of formation driving. They tended to wander and to be very hesitant which caused occasional moments for the rest. After a few baulks at Eau Rouge ( flat in the Miata) it was not uncommon to hear a plantive voice at the back of a 10 or 12 car snake say "don't any one lift!!!!" Followed by laughter...wheel to wheel down from La Source....sorting into a train through Eau Rouge....and three abreast down the straight determining who had the best "eau rouge" launch.

By the end we had the three "new guys" passing some of us professionally and no longer feeling like they were "in the way".

Do not hold old prejudices based on remembered boost before the algorythims were adjusted....boost was a joke then...and very hard to deal with. Now it is a very useful tool to allow some very useful training. Perhaps we should rename the series to SNAIL Basic Racecraft School.

I just ran a few quick hot laps. Best was a 2:18.1. Average lap times were 2:19. I'm a faster D3 drivers. Looking like 5 laps anyways.
