I don't know what scares me more, Anything at Bathurst, that prancing pony at a small track or the fact that Canuckle has posted a full third of all his posts since 2012, today. And, it includes a double.

After many hours of testing (ok maybe an hour or so) I'm electing to go with Cape Ring - Inside. Hope that combo proves good fun & excitement for all!

Good thing bread cat doesn't get to drive! Not sure that's a certified helmet?

Sure...I was running around the 53.5 mark

Not bad...if you push it too hard, you're gonna catch grass!

LMAO! If it only had a chin strap!!!

Ferrari at cape ring? Vett on ss! Makes me not even want to race. And I have nothing against grip I just have an issue with cars on Simi slick tires that don't need them... this is also why I think the rx7 on sh is perfect because u actually need some skill and patience instead of this glue to the track approch

That is of course your choice.

The tire regs are such so the League as whole has some chance of having fun with a combo. Not everyone has the same idea of fun.

Agreed, but shouldn't that translate into putting down good lap times rather than complaining about others' choices?

That is what makes this league so much fun, it's driving cars on challenging tracks on challenging tires.
Agreed.

Yeah, there are some weeks where every car is "easy to drive" but I feel much more rewarded when I can power though the learning curve of a "difficult combo" ( Ford GT @ Monza) and come out the other side a better driver. Albeit it's usually from studying what the "faster guys" are doing and attempting to replicate it.

In retrospect I was sad to see that combo go...

I guess my point here is to enjoy the challenge each combo brings regardless if the tires are the right compound for the car or if the car is the right fit for a track.

I have yet to see the stewards VETO a combo due to popular opinion...

The track boundaries post has been updated to include the tracks we will be using this week. You might want to read the section on Cape Ring.

For fun I decided to do a little reading and something caught my attention. There are a couple tracks where there are pylons outside of the rumble strips. As we [should] know, making contact with these pylons is considered short cutting, even if the car is still within the tracks boundaries according to the known tire/track edge limitations. The problem here (as I see it) is that when contact is made these pylon will be removed from their original locations, thus making future cornering practices far less black and white.

Agreed.

The solution there is don't hit the pylons or brake markers. It's really not that hard to not hit a stationary object. Once they are gone, regular OOB rules would apply to that area of track.

I remember this happening at Silverstone with the SLS AMG GT3 and GT86. Once someone took those pylons out at Brooklands, you could cut in for a better setup into Luffield, but not many people took advantage of that even though it was legal (aside from removing the pylons).

Ha, Vadim Kogay. There is a reason that some gentlemen drivers are suspect. Dude could barely keep the car on track.

Ah but they pay the bills....
You realize that 25 is an odd number, right? I'm bidding so I can steal my sons PS3, then run 2 screens, but I'll defer my bidding if it gains us another member :)

I now have a 20 inch, a 30 inch, and a 42 inch....hmmm how many Ps3s do I need and will they work with dissimilar screens. :dunce:
I finished my review of 15 IRs this week.
I ran out of steam with @ 10... But I'm retired , old, and disabled...heh heh.(Everyone has and excuse....they are like....well ...you know .)

Whatever the shell bid is...I bid two more! (I'm going to give one to the true gentleman who "took" me to the races in St.Pete.)

An early #TBT back to 1969/1970. My dad teamed up with Brock Yates, Sr to test out the Ford Boss 302 Mustang street car on the race track, specifically Watkins Glen. The following article was written by Brock Yates, Sr and published in the January 1970 issue of Car and Driver.

As the article states, my dad was collected in an incident in the first race. That caused him to start from the rear of the field the next day, moving all the way up to 2nd place in his class.

Message me your email address if you want a copy of the article.

My dad is in the white racing suit in the middle of the photo. Brock Yates, Sr is behind the tow truck with the black hat. My older brothers and Brock, Jr are there as well.

The #13 car was a Shelby Mustang that started up front and my dad had an intense battle with him for a couple laps.
