@CoachMK21 , did you succeed in fixing the damage in appropriate time to hang on with the compet again? I keep fingers crossed dude :cheers: :gtpflag: :cheers:

We'll be ready for the August 21st and 22nd at Limerock!

Nice! Is it a double 7 hour?

It will be a 4 hour on Friday and 8 hour on Saturday. There is also a 4 hour on Thursday, but we won't be making that part of it.

This shouldn't be a shock, nmcp1!

I'm car shopping this next week or so, but more in the family/kid hauler stage - some fun, but 4 doors. Wife wants me to go to CarMax (they have very few manuals), so working on options. A track only car is a possibility after that, but it would be a lower budget one... maybe. ;)

We're about to get another, brand new track about an hour, hour 15 south of me.

I may head down this week to check it out. "Charter memberships" are allegedly transferrable, so I may plunge on one of those.

I have some folks to talk to about this track, and the likelihood of success, and clientele, etc. And of course the "boss" who must go along with my next hare-brained scheme.

Around here, Formula Vee and Formula Ford are pretty small fields, 5-9 cars, with a few events. Most of the FV/FF meets seem like they are big in the Northeast, and that's 7-10 hours away. The Showroom Spec Miata class is what I'm considering through the SCCA if I end up doing any door-to-door racing. 30-40 guys on the grid for most races.

Alright, looks like we may have enough for a some good fender bending action! @Handlebar welcome back to the states, hope your holiday was excellent and you got to have plenty of kips! Nothing worse than going on a vacation and needing one when you return. Ok, that's not true really, but all the same. Glad you will be making it out, I think we can get you adrenaline up enough to keep ya going.
830 pm EST is the gathering time. hoping to start by 845. that being said, I may be just a few minutes behind. We have a disc golf outing that should be getting me home right around the 815 mark, I hope. Have no fear though, Cat and Mouse is on tonight! Everyone that can make it, I strong suggest making it out.

Just to see how many people will show up for Cat and Mouse, please do this thing: http://goo.gl/forms/DVNyXU0MbR

Hey V, the second link, can you make set it to public?

It really depends on what your price point and intent is with the classes. If you plan on running SCCA National events in either categories, expect to be paying a pretty hefty bill week in and week out. Of course, the vees aren't as near expensive as the Miatas, and if you do end up tearing a corner off the car, it only takes 2-3000$ to get the car up and running the next day, compared to if you stuff a Miata into a wall, (Or other Miatas) there's a good chance that the car is a write off. As for class size, you generally see more cars show up for a Double National in both categories just because they're trying to get invited to the Runoffs.

One thing I have noticed from watching and racing, is that the Miata guys are waaay more aggressive, and they'll do darn near anything to win. If you plan on getting an expensive paint job sprayed on your car, think twice. They're not afraid to bump, shove, and block in order to get ahead. The racing is still fair, because everyone races like that. On the vee side the racing is just as intense, but we have respect for what we're driving. There's a good chance that you're going over if you nip rubber with another driver.
Both classes are a hell of a good time and if you do decide to go SCCA racing, I'd love to see some video :)

Oh yeah, I finished my reviews of the seven incidents this week.

@Rallywagon

Mice = Midget truck?
Cats = non race/rally car at an unmodified .... 480 or less, must be able to run snow/ice tires?
if people can fit this bill, that would be great, however, for the sake of flexibility just a really low PP car, like 280, and something around 480 is great.

I can make no serious promises of making it for a long stint. It feels like 1 am and we are an hour away still.

I can come by fer a bit. Who is opening the room?

Sorry, because I live in France, I was sleeping at that time to wake up now (1 AM) to get ready for cat and mouse. I set it to public.

Any specific cars to use?

I would like to join Snail.

@MarkR420

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @Dragonwhisky, @JLBowler, @nmcp1 & @zer05ive as participants. The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing club. Sunday races are organized exclusively through the GT6 Community features within the game.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL :cheers:
