I'm not pissed. I called you dude. Dude. Brah. Guy. Brosef. Etc. lol
Not sure if I can explain this where you'll understand but I'm gonna give it a bash anyway.

A word's meaning and intent is determined by tone of voice and the context in which it is used. There are also non-verbal cues that humans use to determine meaning. This medium can only show context. There is at least one other word (starts with the letter f) that many folks use and may be the only word that can make a complete sentence all by itself, however improper it may be. How you write something here and the way it's taken by the audience is determined by the context in which it is used and the tone of voice the reader imparts to it.

So, stop typing messages taking it for granted that the readers will hear your tone of voice and see your non-verbal cues. If it can be misinterpreted, it will be. Think before you hit that "Post Reply" button, read what you wrote and ask yourself, how can what I wrote be taken? Will it be taken in a way I don't mean? Precision is key.

By the way, the word Dude, as a term, hasn't been in fashion for several years. :P ;)

Dude, where's my colloquialism bro?

I'll be a lot more careful now that I've been notified you guys are voting if I should be on the Last Chance List or not. I'll just shut up for awhile.

Damnnn! That's the steepest downhill I've ever seen in karting! Must be scary the first time! :scared: What's the name of the track?
He raced at Laguna Seca a few times. Said that drop off was a negative G-force every lap. And he had to hit "The Spot" each time or end up off track or against the downhill wall, as he observed several to experience- without good results.

@DesertPenguin09, great discussion topic. For me, my fun with vehicles has always been off road. A lot of trail riding, over-landing, and dune running. I've had a few Jeeps over the years and my current Jeep only retains the stock frame (modified) and steering column. A car guy is a car guy, and I love me some high-performance. But racing was always something I enjoyed watching on the tube or at local tracks.

Dixie Motor Speedway was always a fun summer treat with the family as a kid. They would run bombers, some sort of modified class, sprint cars I believe, midgets, and my favorite were the legends. Even as I got older I'd go with friends and we'd have a blast betting on cars. Oh, they'd do the spectator races too, those were insane.

About a year and a half ago my brother-in-law gave my son his PS3. I picked up GT5 used for like $12 and spent a ton of time grinding away with the DS3. I thought, man a sim-rig would be awesome if they built some kind of wheel that would give feedback... so I Googled it. I'm a bit of a metal fabricator from all the off roading, so I got some sticks of steel, a boneyard seat, and ordered a G27. I played offline for several months and didn't even know how online gaming worked. When I discovered online racing, it blew my mind that I could virtually race against other live people! Since then it has become a full on hobby that my wife is understanding of, but not all that supportive of.

Snail racing has since made me a Formula 1 fan, an Indy fan, more of a Nascar fan, and just a general race nut. I never understood all that went on from a racer's perspective until I did it virtually. If it weren't for Snail, I probably wouldn't be such an enthusiast. The friendly, courteous nature that lies beneath the tight competition makes Snail a real treat to be a part of. For those that assembled and keep this engine running, I say a million thank yous.

Don't forget the whiskey! It's +70% more aggressiveness! :P
anyway @Vitessekid , hope to see you in a practice lobby tonight, as @DP too, but we D7 guys enjoy seeing and try to follow fast pace cars as talked about it, as Dragon did it in the past , but also explaining how to be fast within the OLR, that's the art, so Rock'n'Roll if faisable ?, pédale à fonds,

Sorry, would love to, but I'm 5 hours drive away from home practicing a karting "combo" :P since Friday and will be back home by Sunday night to hopefully be energetic enough for the race. If I can I will get in a practice lobby just before the race and maybe I'll see you there! ;)

Hmm, not many people posted a lap time for TT compared to last week :indiff:

I have been testing some vehicles for future combos, here they are as follows:

1. Ferrari Dino 246 GT '71 at the Nurburing GP/F

2. Ferrari California '08 at Tokyo R246 Forward

If you have other recommendations, give your opinions please?

Here's a list. Anything that isn't highlighted in blue is something we've never used on Sunday night. I would start there.

WIDEeyedDriver has club room open for practice

I am wondering why we are not allowed to run WARM UP LAPS before the Sunday night race. Lets see, room opens at 9, racing doesn't start till 9:30. Why not run laps in that time? There must be a reason, anyone know? It's the best time to warm up your brain and body before going on the track cold. Less mistakes at the start of the night. All the practice rooms need to be closed by 9, then what? Hair is washed, toenails trimmed, nose picked, cup o tea steeped to perfection, ready to race.....then sit there for a half hour watching guys do donuts and listening to burps and farts from my racing breatheren. Actually, I like good burbs and farts.....they gotta be worthwhile to be entertaining though. Just kidding, we have a pretty good bunch here and I am usually the guy doing donuts.

Sorry guys, just learning how to post pics. My new rig. Finally done. Cost....60$. Used all scrap wood, some countertop left over from a reno, brand new left over carpet and a ton of screws. Pedals are mounted upside down with a heel support for, well, support. The shifter mount and flight sim hardware are all mounted on lockable sliders so I can switch out from Flight sim to racing in about 30 seconds. Rudder pedals fit perfectly under the heel support. Dynamic surround sound with six speakers and a mother sub. Gonna mount a buttkicker when I can afford it. I just picked up a seat from a wrecked '05 Jetta for 40 $ and mounted it today. What a difference from my juryrigged office chair that squeeked and grunted like a pig in heat.

I have to say, building this was a great experience and not that hard to do. It does take up some room, but, it's not as monstrous as my last set up. Anyway, I don't have a wife to tell me what I can and can't do, reason #7 not to get married. That's a biggie. Now I feel like I'm climbing into a cockpit to enjoy my hobby, will it make me faster........doubtful, but it was fun to do.

Good question.... The time between when the room is open to the time race starts is to be used wisely to work out all connection issues before start time but I don't see why this can't be done while laps are run. I see a lot of people join last minute and I think that's due to the boredom of joining early. Laps may get them in the room sooner to work things out. It's been suggested setting the room to the final combo or the oldest combo at 9 and allowing laps till the all clear by bowler. I'm for allowing laps but the ones who actually call the shots may think differently

The short answer is that there are divisions right now that can't get everyone together in turn one, verify that everyone can see each other, and get started on time. Having to get everyone in from running laps would just make it that much more difficult to start on time.

A few minutes of down time to insure that everyone can see each other and the room is set properly (another thing that some divisions have issues with) is not going to kill you. You're just being asked to sit there. Park your car and get a drink or walk around the room and stretch your legs for a minute. If you feel the need to practice right up until the race starts, do it in a lobby outside of the club portion of the game and then enter the room. Just make sure to get there at least 5 minutes before start time or you could get locked out unless five minutes is too much time to give up.

I know I replied to one person but when I say "you" in this post, I am using it in the general sense to mean anyone and not the person I replied to specifically.

And by the way, that's not me driving.

turn 1 - the gt6 glitch of not seeing people doesn't have to be verified visually seeing cars. Your position indicator in the top left tells all. I have never seen or heard of people not seeing cars that are counted in the position indicator. So number of people on track and seeing people on track can be varified anywhere on the track while lapping.
I'm done and ready to follow the rules as they are lol ..I'm just FOR laps

Edit: some people turn off all the HUDs , so I guess for them the turn 1 verification is crucial and the only way...... Damn , I lose

12 drivers on track. Your indicator only shows 11. You can't see all 11 in the positional order on the right side so you need to figure out which car you can't see by visually confirming with others in the room. I have been in rooms that have had to do this for that exact reason. How can you visually confirm that you can or can't see a car if guys are out turning laps?

Because the indicator on the left always goes to the full room 16. Most times it's confusion because a person is looking on the right side at the drivers list that only shows the 7 cars around you.
If there is 12 on track you will see position/12. On the right you may see you are first and see only to eighth position.. only the top left number is used to see how many are on track

Ok, how about running laps until 5 minutes before race time? Then gather at turn one.I understand the need to organize a room, but warm up is important, especially on race night, it might make turn 1 a little more managable. I don't have the time to warm up before 9 as I am sure a lot of other people don't either. 25 minutes is just about right to get into the zone. I don't mind whatsoever waiting 5 minutes, but as I said, all the other chores are done by 9 and I am ready to race. Get a few laps in so I don't take someone out on the first corner. This is the first season in a year where I,(we) cannot run laps before race time. Not trying to make waves, but.......

What do other sunday night racers think about running laps up until 5 minutes before race start?

I understand that but you need to know who you can't see so that something can be done about it. Just knowing that you can't see everyone doesn't give you the necessary information to try and fix the problem.

Does the phrase, "let me finish this lap" mean anything to you?

We used to allow practice in the lobby before race time. It created more problems than it was worth in getting started on time mainly due to the overuse of that phrase by too many guys.

I have no doubt that there are guys out there who would have no issues getting going on time if practice were allowed. I also have no doubt that there are guys that would never get started on time if practice were allowed. Until there are no more of the latter, practice will not be allowed in the race lobby before the race starts.

I said it earlier. If anyone just has to practice in those last 20 or 25 minutes, do it in your own room outside of the club setting and then change rooms to sit in turn one.

The fewer things the host has to do to start race night, the less likely they are to make mistakes.

Most open lobby rooms I race do a head count call prior to racing. No one goes to turn one but everyone verifies that they can "see" everyone with the position indicator (top left of screen). Seems to work every time.
Like I said,(i don't know why I'm still going lol)I'm prepared to race things as they are

Edit :As for "just let me finish this lap". Ain't nobody got time for that ...9:25pm est track changed to c1 , sorry about your luck, end of lap....

What Bowler is saying though, is when someone can't see someone, you all need to be in the same location on track to fix the problem. Of course things will go smoothly when there are no problems, but you have to be ready with a remedy when a problem may occur, especially one as common as this.

You're still not getting it. The number in the upper left will only tell you how many you can see. It does not tell you WHICH DRIVER(S) you can or can't see. For that you can use the standings list on the right unless there are too many drivers to all show on that list. In this situation you have to VISUALLY VERIFY (by seeing the other cars) who you can and can't see in order to begin to fix the problem

When everyone sees the same number in the upper left, there is no need to know who you can't see.

When you go to " the pits " after it has been found you're missing someone and look at the lobby list, the driver(s) you can't see will not be "blued/greened up" and will appear to be off track. Ive verified that I couldn't see racers before I even went on track just by hearing the conversations in the room and seeing the list showing no one on track in the lobby

Any more pictures for banners? I don't have very many to choose from at all. Need more, particularly of the Chaser @ GVS. Need these posted by Sunday morning please.

I don't like it but will comply with whatever.
By the way, it was fun getting my butt kicked by you in Thursday's practice room........ Not.
