I would like to join thanks :)))

@Summerw02

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @Dragonwhisky, @JLBowler, @nmcp1 & @zer05ive as participants. The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing club. Sunday races are organized exclusively through the GT6 Community features within the game.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

Please provide link to page where Changing the Turning Radius of the G27 is described. I must have forgotten the sequence of Buttons to be pushed etc

I haven't heard of this. Is this to make the steering input shorter or longer?

start-select left square button for drift, or right circle button for racing. The person that figures that out deserves a nobel prize.
@Unknown_Male follow the link man, the rabbit holes worth the ride.

@Lessen , In regards to your wheel. I recently retired my G27 as it is not compatible with the PS4. I have to say the G27 was and still is a very good wheel. Rock solid, Only issue was the pedals got dirt inside and I simply cleaned them. As a matter of fact I still use the The pedals from the G27. If you are only going to use for PS3, the G27 will give you most bang for your buck.

I currently use a T300. Picked it up for $309.00 at frys, shipping was free. Watch for daily deals. I then added the ricmotech addapter ($20.00) so I can use the G27 pedals. The T300 is even better than the G27 in terms of feel and feedback. I like the idea that the paddle shifters move with the wheel. On the T500 the paddle shifter are connected to the base. I never used the shifter on G27 and therefore I do not need to buy one for T300, Saves some money. The paddles work great for me, smooth click, easy to reach. I also ungraded my brake pedal with the @GTEYE spring, worth every cent, a no brainer, if you have a G27 and do not have this spring, well you have missed the boat.
Many people have found that the standard pedals for the T300 are the weak link.

Thrustmaster T300 wheel and G27 pedals, winning combination.

@Dragonwhisky has it right with a top tier starting at at least $1,000. then another $250. for the wheel, then another $400+ for pedals. Now you need a shifter, $300+. Crazy money in my eyes.

The G29, Identical working insides as the the 5 year old G27, yet with the new G29 you are fortunate enough to have to pay extra for the shifter. ?? By the way, the shifter from the G27 will work with the new G29, So much for Logitech making extra money from people who are upgrading from their G27. Sorry for those who paid the extra money.

Having a solid rig under you is will only enhance the feeling and with your wood working skills I am sure you will find a great rig to build. If you want to buy a rig or just to get ideas check out the list . Anywhere from $200. all the way up to 5 figures.

Wheel Stands, Racing Rigs Cockpits, Pedals, Wheels. Master List ...

just my 1.5 cents , inflation.

@zer05ive @JLBowler and whoever is helping with the Snail Racing League thread link page.

I know you/all have done an outstanding job putting that page together. And all the members really appreciate it.

A Suggestion for another link?
How about an Information Link for such things as was just above discussed?

New members may not be aware of the Helps that are available - Wheels, Pedal assists, (I'm sure there are other Helps that I can't remember right now)

Certainly don't want to add to the work load - but just something to consider, or not.

So... the local indoor karting track had an "all you can race" deal today so I figured since I'm on vaca, what better way to spend a couple hours doing my racing thing and even save a few bucks.

First race: Basically just getting re-acclimated again for the first half dozen laps. After those things got pretty consistent and I was could run consistent mid/high 25s.

Second race: (back to back with R1) Working on my cornering technique and specifically T1 which I still wasn't feeling all that great about. This kart felt a little better too. Overall more nimble and turned well on power. Definitely would step out on entry if too aggressive. New PB: 24.958 (previous best my last visit: 25.525). This put me in their pro club or whatever they call it. Sweet!

Break.

Third race: Sitting in the pits before the run and one of the employees comes to me and asks if I want to run my next race directly after this one. He says I'll be in the first kart in the other line which happens to be the same kart I used in my 2nd race. So of course I oblige and thank him. On to racing... This kart SUCKS! WTF? I could barely hit low 25's. Kart was way tighter. I simply couldn't do anything with it.

Fourth race: Oh my, this kart is sooooo much better! Nothing much to say here but a new PB: 24.904. That's 0.105 off the track record. Great day!

That is AWESOME, man! Thank you for sharing - that's fantastic.

Our local kart place, AllSports just closed. @Wardenclyffe had gone there several times, and I meant to join the local guys for a winter league, but didn't. I'm hoping they reopen, but I have no aspirations of that degree of success. Next closest place isn't close, and it the completely wrong way for traffic around here. :yuck:

Rock on, sir, rock on!

If anyone was ever interested in what the most powerful car we could use in SNAIL that uses Comfort Medium tires, it's the Isuzu Piazza XE '81 with 133hp before and 139HP after oil change. I think it drives pretty nice, worth a look.

The most powerful car we could use on Comfort Softs is the all-wheel-drive 3000GT SL '96 at 221HP,
For someting FR on it's the Altezza RS200 '98 (with the BEAMS 3SGE that I want for my AE86...) at 207HP.
The '85 RX-7s are worth a look, too.

Any of those would be worth testing for a lower PP race that didn't make passing impossible.

Never will forget this, go karting in Nashville on the day when 2015 GT Academy ended. Props to @ConnorWolf for taking the picture ;)

You guys are gonna make me want to drive an hour and a half to spend money I don't have on some kart racing! XD It was sooo much fun in Nashville.

The g forces are addictive, the more I get the less satisfying sim racing seems to be when I get back...

I haven't heard of this. Is this to make the steering input shorter or longer?

I can explain it very simply for you unknown male.

Go into the cockpit view with standard/default wheel radius settings (start+select+X),

& turn your wheel 90 degrees left or right.

You will observe that the wheel in your hands and the one in the cockpit do not match up well.

If you press (start+select+square), the degrees will change to match up with the steering wheel in cockpit view, for the vast majority of cars in the game.

Some people prefer (Start+select+O) or even triangle for formula cars.

I check this and match up my cockpit wheel with my G27 wheel, individually, every time I drive a new car.

I drive like this every time and need to do this when I first get on track every time I play GT.
I also have some custom FFBack torque and steering sens. settings which work with the Square steering radius.

GT Academy 2015 is where I truly became aware of all these things and their application toward my driving.

Those lower PP cars tend to be just slow enough to give drivers time enough to decide if that possible pass move is wise and good racecraft to make the attempt, imho.

Editorial moment: My 'dream' lineup is (usually) all non-racecars, below 500 PP, but can be painted, custom rims, and a number. Ideally, not all FR clones, but the smattering of 4WD or FF or MR or RR cars on tracks where they can feel 'normal' to run there. Or, throw them on courses where it is really challenging, but... it's challenging for all of us, and it may be voted off, but we picked up that gauntlet and smacked it back.

Is it suppose to work with the dfgt?

Since it's Monday, maybe I can get a few opinions here?
If this is just a passing fad for you, don't waste your money on top of the line sim racing products. If you are serious, spend as much as you can afford. The old saying in most cases is you get what you pay for. Research is your friend. Figure out what equiptment is best for you and save your pennies till you can afford it, then shop around for the best prices. The G27 is a good wheel, but I wish I had the T300, I like the idea of brushless motors and every review on it is possitive.
