There are 3 drivers in D2 using controllers (Kgffy, RayZaBlayz and myself) and we are usually reasonably competitive but in the both races last night the three of us finished over a full minute behind the winner. If any of us win a prize and get a chance to pick a car I have my doubts we'll be picking a car with which we can't negotiate turns!
Thanks for posting this...it explains a lot to me, and it certainly restores some of my confidence.

My experience was similar...I practiced this one a lot, and yet was puzzled that I was a minimum of 3 seconds per lap off pace. I qualified 2nd last, and finished race 1 a lap down.

Still, I did try to learn what I could from this ... if nothing else it was a lesson in humility :D

maybe we need a "SNAIL Controller-users support group"?

Isn't @Vitessekid a controller user as well? If he is, he's in D1 and won the first Tomahawk race casting doubt on the controller inferiority theory.

I don't believe so. But if he is, he is working real magic.

This isn't me pleading the poor mouth it's simply a matter of fact. Just to satisfy curiosity simply pick up a controller and try to negotiate the turn 3/4 S bends flat like the wheel drivers can.

What is the deadline tonight for filling out an IR? I have to submit one against myself for not lifting after going out of bounds on turn 1 of Nurburgring.

Edit: Nevermind I found that its 11pm EST

Everyone's clarifying for me, so I'll just add myself that I'm using a Driving Force GT.

@turnupdaheat You're one of the people working real magic. I can't go past turn 1 without crashing on a pad with any car on any track.

There will be some that will disagree with me here, but I honestly think there is very little to be learned from driving cars which are that extreme. Being sooo very different from "real" cars, I just don't think there is much you can take away for the future. Most of what is learned from combo's like that is simply just muscle memory that is very specific to that combo. I would bet real money that everybody would take away more useful knowledge about car control, pass setup, driving lines and braking techniques from time in 100cc karts, Lotus Elises, and Shelby GT350's. But that's just my 2 cents...

Since I won't be coming back for quite a while again due to school, I'll give out my secret. Handbrake. The Tomahawk is happy when the handbrake is used, and turns instantly, though it already turns enough , that's how I got my 48.5 in the TT. If you guys want to try, go ahead, there should be significant improvement. I gained 3 tenths with it.

Understand your point - completely. However, sometimes it is just "enjoyable" to be challenged, and find a measure of success, by something "out of the ordinary/real". Whether the Tomahawk is real or fantasy - it is ....... dare I say "fun" to go that fast and negotiate corners - most of the time. I certainly had my experiences last night.

One event at T1: My palm hit the "change view" button and suddenly put me inside the cockpit ........ great was the crash and mayhem which followed. Not only could I not see, or comprehend, where the car was, was trying to go, or how ..... I was unable to steer the car at all for several moments due to the extensive damage up front. Which made it an infuriating experience for any and all around me.
My apologies to all - and will file any necessary IRs regarding that moment.

Have nothing to do while you wait to hear what the new combos are?

Today and tomorrow are your last chance to enter times for last week's combos in the Time Trial Events!

(Also, register for Monday night Pack racing with @racingchamp30)

Tex, that post made me smile. I actually moved my "boost" button on my steering wheel because I kept on hitting the rear view camera when I wanted to hit the boost button. Not a good idea to look backwards while travelling at 200+ mph!:lol:

EDIT...ooops double post

The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 3 - SRT Tomahawk S Vision Gran Turismo (Racing: Medium) at Mid-Field Raceway / Forward (13 laps)
Therefore the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since @Ricky Wilson wins Prize A, he gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 2 - Toyota Supra GT500 Base Model '05 (Racing: Hard) at Nürburgring GP/F (6 laps)
This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since @MSgtGunny gets Prize B, he has the option to freeze the car or the track, or he can give that option to the Prize C winner. If he gives the freeze away, then he gets to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @CoachMK21 so he gets whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it has been confirmed that you don't have any penalties. It's also recommended that you review the SNAIL combo history and other data on our car and track history so that you can get an idea how many times we've raced each car and track. Please remember that originality is always appreciated, so picking cars and tracks that we've never raced is a plus (but not required). What's more important is that you thoroughly test any combo that you are considering before making it your official selection. For example, any car you select should not hit its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in the draft).

IMPORTANT: When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting. For example, if you want to select the Amuse Superlegara for your car, post "Amuse Nismo 380 RS Superlagara". If you want to select Monza for a track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza". This makes it much easier for the lineup to be updated accurately and also prevents confusing other league members as to which car or track you are selecting. Also, please be sure to list the PP and HP (after oil change) of any car you select.

Car Selection Guidelines
Dealership Cars - The maximum price for a selected car is now $1,000,000
DLC Cars - Only DLC cars that are FREE and currently still available in the PlayStation Store can be selected.

Track Selection Guidelines
Any non-DLC track can be selected as long as a single lap with the car combo'd with it would not take more than five minutes to complete. For example, don't select anything that includes the Nurburgring's Nordschleife.
