New Quick Match is up! GT500 at Suzuka is now at Twin Ring Road Course, just like us! Everything else is the same.

I like this one instead of Suzuka. So far I've raced with no more than five drivers and all were respectful. If you're ever in the mood for a random race against actual drivers and not the crappy AI, here's your race.

Exactly. The guy over in PCars forum wyldanimal has done some pretty extensive testing between the two on his PC and PS4.

My point is someone buying a G29 for a PS3 is not going to get the best performance out of it because it is not fully supported.

If you are thinking of getting a new wheel to use on a PS4 then I recommend checking out the G29. But if you are only going to use it on a PS3 then get a wheel fully supported by the PS3.

That makes sense. Has he done testing between the G27 and G29 or just the T300 and G29? If he has done the G27 vs G29, do you have a link handy?

Well, being a poster child for Logitech gear, I own or have owned,

sing to the tune of 12 days of Christmas, starting on the 8th day.

....
Eight+- Trackballs, wired and wireless, a tracking
Seven nothings here, (good number, but I don't have 7 Logitech items)
Six Speakers (5.1 set) spouting
Five Raaaacing wheels (yeah that's right, 5, DFGT and G27 for PS3 and others for PC)
4 Of nothing. (According to some cultures it's a really bad mojo number.)
3 Mice hens
2 Harmony Remotes (and keyboards)
and a Wireless headset in a pear tree.

I'm sure I missed a few pieces here and there but you get the idea.

In other words, I've got more Logitech gear in my house than any other manufacturer of anything, barring hand tools. Logitech has my loyalty, and especially after they replaced my X540 Headset's power supply, free of any charge, after the warranty had expired. Other folks may own more, or more expensive items Logitech makes, but, so what.

What I'm trying to say is, I'm Logitech all the way, like I'm Chevrolet all the way. I am just greatly disappointed in how things worked out between Sony/Polyphony Digital and Logitech. If, for instance, my G27 was compatible with the PS4, I would be happy to upgrade to newer tech, just like I upgraded from the DFGT to the 27, because I wanted to and in my own good time, because the new tech is better and I could afford it, not because of some synthetically greedy reason to repair an organizational relationship built on greed.

I don't have any evidence to back this up but, how it fell out just feels to me like, after the DFGT butthurt, either Logitech leveraged Sony or vice versa, to make previous equipment not work with current equipment. It's kind of like if car manufacturers decided to create an entirely new standard of bolt/nut sizing all in one day/month/year and none of the tools I've collected over the last 30 years would work, and I had to go out and buy several hundred or a few thousand dollars worth of tools, just to do routine work on my car. Would I be likely to buy a new Chevrolet if the 10mm or 1/2" wrenches and sockets I have wouldn't fit any nuts and bolts on the car? I don't think so. I'm not afraid to buy new tools, but, the juice has got to be worth the squeeze. I would entertain the notion of a G29, if they perhaps redesigned it so it wasn't so cluttered looking, included the shifter with it and made it so I didn't have to buy it alongside purchasing the new console and game. For me, who would never think of playing any game with a DS type controller, they left no choices here. That is the deplorable part and will prevent me from considering a PS4 or another GT title. At this point, I'd rather spend that money on a CAI and axle backs for that new Chevrolet all my tools still work on.

Seriously...complaining about equipment not being future proof borders on insane.

A bit of an extreme/inappropriate statement in this case, no? (At the very least rude, since you are implying those you are having a discussion with must be borderline insane.)

Expecting your equipment to be supported beyond 2-3 years nowadays is just not logical. Especially equipment based on technology.

Really, and why is that? Why is it insane to expect that a recent 3rd party peripheral be supported into future generations? It is so INSANE to expect this...but somehow other manufacturers found a way to do it...INSANE!

This is not rocket science. I can go dig out a 20 year old mouse and it will work on a PC today. A wheel is a wheel; a joystick is a joystick, a mouse is a mouse...very little has changed in how those things communicate with a computer/console (The biggest change being USB).

New tech may come out, and an old device may not support new features (obviously), but there is little to no reason for these to become unsupported.

I didn't complain when my PS3 controllers weren't compatible with PS4, my newly bought in ear Sony wireless headset, all my games etc.
A console's dedicated controllers are not the same thing, and people know those will not be supported on future consoles. Neither are software written for a specific console/OS. As to the headset, for Sony not to support their own devices...that doesn't sound very logical, and if you chose to merely accept it, well, that just contributes to the problem.

I used to race motorcycles and helmet safety ratings make your $500 helmet obsolete in 2 secs flat.
You should be changing your racing helmet every year anyway, but regardless it is not the same thing at all. That you see something like that as being parallel to OS/console support for a 3rd party peripheral is astonishing.

How do I join?

@Pirellix81

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join SNAIL Racing League:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @JLBowler, @nmcp1 & @zer05ive as participants. The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing club. Sunday races are organized exclusively through the GT6 Community features within the game.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

Whatever you have to tell yourself to get angry because your G27 isn't future proof. If this is sufficient reason to say Logitech or Sony or whoever has just turned evil then go for it. If you want justify your switch to another brand then great.

There are examples everywhere of an older priece of product doesn't work with a newer piece of product. But you just keep on fighting the good fight and using your ps/2 mice and a VGA monitors . I just bought new components to build a new computer...no ps/2 ports, no vga connector, no floppy drive (5 1/4 or 3 1/2)...I could go on and on.

I'm not angry. I understand that this is just how it is.

Go ahead and keep the fires burning though.

I guess this is where I go back into my hole and pray my G29 works on the upcoming consoles...forever.

And btw...the reason why I even bothered to post...my G29 works great and I am happy with it. I recommend it.

Yes but what logitech did wasn't planned obsolescence. It was we are dropping out of the market, (so sony didn't carry the logitech products onto the new console) oh wait no were not and here is our "new" product. (that reads as our really old product on the outdated system but its "new").

None of this has any proof behind it. It's how it showed in my readings of the logitech fall and rise again. It wasn't even 2 years and they were back with the G29. Thats some fast R&D right there!!

Now if they were to say not support all but there newest of the old models(and have made that a business model) on to a system or have brought the G29 out with time to plan and create hype before the PS4 came out, That would be a different story!

Feel Good Friday Story.

A nice gesture to a young NZ rugby fan after he was treated roughly by an over zealous security guard when his heroes won the World Cup.

Sonny Bill Williams has a bit of a hard man image (he's also an accomplished professional boxer) but he shows his soft side here. After the euphoria settled down the kid tried to return the medal but he got to keep it after Sonny Bill was presented with a replacement. Ahhhh! :)

I understand the reasons behind planned obsolescence. Doesn't mean I agree with them. Forcing consumers to buy things might be all great and dandy for the big picture economy but, I'm all about choices and options. I know how it is. I've been around the planet enough years to have seen how it is. Doesn't mean I like it any better, nor do I have to accept it. My motorcycle is "obsolete" by today's standards. You know, strangely, it still gets me down the road. The real difference between my vehicles life cycle and what's been going down with the consoles and this entire discussion of controllers is this, just by owning and using my vehicles, I'm contributing to the economy by buying fuel and insurance, tires and oil, etc. In the micro economy of console controllers such as the G29 and T300, no matter how good or bad they are, once they're bought, the only continual contribution they have to any economy is the electricity they use to operate. Comparatively speaking, that amount is so minuscule as to be discounted entirely.

Oh I get it. I really do. I'm not angry and I accept the choices here. The difference here is, some are willing to accept being told when and what to spend their money on, others are not. Yeah, there are several other areas of my personal economy where this occurs, I don't like that much either. What Sony and Logitech have done here is nothing new. It also means I'll be a minuscule blip on their money stream graph. They had an opportunity to convince me to buy their new products if the tools I'd already bought would work. They even had an opportunity for me to upgrade those tools. They've squandered that by making it so I couldn't do the one without doing the other.

I appreciate your opinion regarding the G29's suitability, Dr_Strange. It refreshed my opinion for purchasing Logitech gear in the future. However, when you upgraded that computer, did you have to buy a different pointing device or a different keyboard to operate all that bleeding edge tech? Yeah, you might have had to buy a new monitor, if your old one was vga only, but I would bet you've got an adapter or two hanging around that would have worked with that old vga monitor until you decided to buy a new one with the HDMI or DVI ports. Even if you didn't, buying an adapter for a fraction of the cost of a new monitor was still an option for you to choose from.

It's all about being given options to choose from. In this particular case, there aren't enough.

Well here you go G27 users. A way to get the G27 working on the PS4...have at it ;)

Also a video posted about how loud the T300 is compared to the G29...the timing is slightly off in the video...the loud clanks each wheel makes when they hit the stops is off but you get the idea.

The T300 is Tempting (got G27 pedals for it), but in the end the price is gonna dictate my choice. The G29 (got G27 shifter for it haha!) is 100$ cheaper at the moment. I'll wait for the black friday and/or later to make a purchase.

I'm leaning on the G29 side at the moment because of the price and I haven't had any issues with the 3 Logitech wheel I currently own.

I was just thinking, something I never do.
But shouldn't the G29 be compared to the T500 or is this all just based on price. Or is the 500 something Logitech can't produce.

Had to think about this one for a bit. While this is certainly a solution to the issue, it requires one to, if not already in your possession, beg, borrow, steal or buy another piece of hardware that could meet or exceed the cost of the G29. I'm not really clear on how or why you need 2 different applications to get it all to work, and whether you have to have the PC/Laptop plugged in line with the controller or something. I don't think the laptop has to be connected to the controller and then to the console but, it doesn't really matter if it does or not. Still need it to program the adapter box to spoof the G27 hardware ID. If that is in fact what it does, this tells me, all they'd have to do is update the PS4 OS to accept the G27 series hardware IDs and away we all go, without the need for all this modding.

What a rip off those t500's are all v1-v2 t500 wheels by looking at the box I'll let my Verison5 t500 go for 400 you cover shipping

Difference from v1-v3 threw v5 t500 wheels the v1 threw v3 have weak Torsion springs in the pedals and break easly and there spongy felling in the v5 they upgraded to double compression springs in all pedals , also v1-v3 have a problem with the cooling fan staying on for ever and not cooling the unit there's a few more changes that were made to the wheels over the years

I'll post a few more picture showing v1 threw V5 and what's been upgraded

Here's a pictures of current version 5 t500 box is blue and v1 threw v3 are white boxes
