Hey Coach, a close friend of mine has a 2005 E46 M3, and I had the privilege to drive it on the road and a few times at AutoX events. The car is great and comfortable as a daily driver, and the performance/$$$ value almost can't be beat. It's gearing and handling abilities far surpass expectations. I have seen them in the mid-upper teens $$$-wise with 50-60k miles on them. He has had his for 8years now, and the only expense he ever complained about was the valvetrain tune up. He was having it done every 2 years, and even he said that was probably being overly meticulous. I would have one if I could afford it, and this is coming from a Camaro guy. Definately consider one.I was looking into the BMW 3-series, well, BMW in general and I have a headache trying to figure out what the naming system is. What a mess. But I've gathered that I'd likely want a 335i or a 135i if I went with one of those series. Or a M3. Can't look at 4-series because too $$$.
Any BMW enthusiast confirm? @Lessen @Ricky_Blayz
Also, on the note of the BMW owner stereotype, my recommendation is to sign up for a BMW club hosted event. There is a big difference between people who "own" BMW's and people who "enjoy/race" BMW. As I said, even with my car, I was welcomed into the club, and they were some very knowledged and fun people to be around. Lastly, the huge club network built around the brand. Very big community. Good luck on your venture.
