Here is a really good article on how your brain processes reactions.

https://backyardbrains.com/experiments/reactiontime

"When a soccer player realizes the ball is blistering towards him, there is visual information that has to be processed and decisions regarding a correct course of action. The brain then needs to send many signals to various muscles. Feet begin to move, hands might travel in front of the face, and eyes may close shut, along with many more processes. This is the work of many neurons as well as numerous systems and circuits in the brain, and what's more, you can train and enhance your skill through practice. This is how you get better at sports over time."

"The average reaction time for humans is 0.25 seconds to a visual stimulus, 0.17 for an audio stimulus, and 0.15 seconds for a touch stimulus."

I just got .266 avg reaction time on this test, and yeah I was trying my hardest :P Pretty average.

In racing, you have to learn where to look and what to look for so your brain knows what information its supposed to be responding to. If you can make sure you're looking for the right things, your reaction times will greatly improve with practice.

The main difference is not that I have alien reaction times, but that I've been playing racing sims since I was 8 (I'm 26).. and with a wheel for 12 years.

ALSO I'm about to get online to test some combos if anyone wants to join me in the club lobby. But my TV is more broken than it was before :(

Best 0.221 - Avg 0.243
No wonder Coach is so quick on the track!!

I did 0.2644, proving that maybe it's not all about the reaction times, since Connor and Nuno run laps around me...

This site has some pretty unreal reaction times (this was passed around in a racing subreddit a few weeks back): http://www.humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime

Interesting. Maybe I'll (or someone else) will set up a Google doc so we can track our own groups reaction time. If nothing else, it will be neat to look at, even if it doesn't really correlate to much.

EDIT:
Looking closer, one person took the test 35 times. Wow, get a life - hahaha

Anyone want to help me figure out lap times for my combo? Buy a Mazda Savannah RX-7 (FC) '85 and jump in the club lobby.

EDIT: Prize A is

Mazda Savannah RX-7 GT-Limited (FC) '85
191hp
396pp
1280kg
Comfort Soft Tires

at

Suzuka Circuit 2014

Estimate Mid Division lap times at 2:41 - 2:44 for 4 laps.

(D1 best so far is 2:38 if it matters, which I don't think it does.)

There is also another car with the same specs and different name, maybe it can also be used.

You ask, and you shall receive. :sly:

Enter your info into this form. You can see all the data here.

I'm not sure that there's going to be much correlation with division or speed in the game and reaction time, but it will be interesting to see nonetheless.

Is anybody here legitimately slower than my average of 388 ms? If I remember correctly, in the past, I would usually clock a 400+ average.

That was entertaining. I tried to be as accurate as possible by running the test several times (20) and taking the average. It's hard to really know what someone reaction time is when there are so many variables that can't be controlled. ex: wired / wireless input devices, computer function/ processing pwr. etc etc

and sometimes i was able to predict the green colour change and get .0090 :). But those aren't accurate and are not measuring my reaction time.

Yeah, hardware can definitely make a difference.

In the form, for the reaction time test I linked to @FlipJ's link (http://www.humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime) instead of the one @ConnorWolf posted (https://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/java/redgreen.html). I've only done each of them a couple of times, but it seems I'm about 50 milliseconds or more faster with Connor's test. Which link did you use @lllTrick?

Which test should we all use?

On the one FlipJ posted I got 320ms. Obviously we should use mine, since I like .266 better... :P

I used the human benchmark.com

We should use the one that feels more connected. I tried that Washington.edu it feels sluggish but in all fair ness I ran it twice on my iPad so using a mouse might be better way to go. Not sure

Ok, I'll change the link to https://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/java/redgreen.html

I suspect the iPad will give you slower times. Definitely give it a try with the PC and mouse.

When I tried it on my phone it kept giving me .6 consistently. On my PC I got only .26s ranging from .262 to .268.

So maybe the other is more accurate, I don't know honestly.

I'll leave it with Connor's link for now. I tried it again and got 0.265, which is way faster than what I can get with FlipJ's link. Weird.

First try I got
.244
.244
.219
.244
.261
consistency :mischievous:
avg .242

2nd try avg is .221

I'm off to test a few tracks.I will post the combo shortly after.

I have been trying to find the current list of approved fixed hosts. Using the link provided in JLBowler's signature to the new and improved "FUD", I expected to find the list in section 6.2 but it is not there. Using the link from post 1, the list is empty and the link from the original FUD has one person listed. So my question is, where is the current list?

At the bottom of this post. 👍

List of room hosts approved to run as fixed host. If you want to get on this list, start a conversation with JLBowler and be prepared to answer some questions and provide some information about your internet connection and how your PS3 is connected to the internet.

1. llNovall
2. polygrizz

Any way to get a link to this list from Section 6.2 - Special instructions for “fixed host” rooms?

Perspective guys. Don't sweat the small stuff.

How's things going for you and your family Rednose?

We are safe in Calgary. We scheduled 65 people to go back to construction site today, but had to cancel because the wind turned north and burned one of the camps.

It looks like it's going to be a long time before we return to live in Fort McMurray. Without lots and lots of rain this is going to burn in the region until winter comes. The total burned are increased from 2,800 square km to 3,500 square km yesterday.
