This was the first time in all the time that I have raced with you all that I won the night ....not even in D8 many moons ago.

The stage is set. Saw it here first. Called it back here. While it ain't on Gran Turismo, yet, that's what they're shooting for.
And if GTS bases everything off of Esports GTS will fail. Sure the elite players will buy it for that chance at winning 1 mil, But the regular guys like those in the lower divisions of snail will pass. Without the online play that is the staple of both GT5 and GT6 I would have never even bought either game, nor my rig, nor my wheel.

Majority of people wouldn't be buying these games if they did not have an online component to it. Once gamers beat the single player offline modes which it didn't take long to beat both GT5 and GT6, people want to play online against real people and not just against an AI computer.

I should have it. I will upload it by tomorrow and let you know if I am unable.

What is the next step in tie-breaks?

Do we look at highest qualifier? (i'll assume that and break the tie that way)

But if you were always competing against say D1's (using snail) would you still want to play GT6?

I don't mean to be smart DW but we saw it back in 2014 here first.

"As a second key element of the partnership, FIA & PDI plan to launch an official FIA Online Championship in 2015 with the intention of offering the large number of Gran Turismo players and motor sport fans the opportunity to engage with real motor sport."

It's further evidence of PD's intent.

But, after I thought about it more, I imagined myself as a major stock holder in PD. I would also want the most excitement before game launch. Companies are maximizing social media coverage to boost sales. Presales have zero hype.

They're taking us "die hard" fans for granted by making us wait for more media hype. Why not though? Are we going to refuse to buy their product? How much of the market do us "die hards" make up? I ask because I really don't know.

But I think its going to be a while before we see GTSport. And my opinion is that it's done, and ready for the shelves as soon as it's most economically feasible.

I wish you had a larger platform to show your theory. I think you're on to something.
So far as I know, there is no larger platform than $1,000,000.00 in any esport. Yet. CoD, CS, and that weird game I can't remember the name of (DOTA maybe) that is huge in several asian markets and they've all had huge $$ tournaments. This racing sim tourney organizer picked rFactor 2, reportedly because it is the only package that provides functionality to do what they want to do. More likely it was a business deal between ISI and Cloud Sport with the FIA Formula E tie in. The entire event is meant to drive sales of all the recommended hardware, the game itself and the subscription, whether lifetime or single year, not to mention registration and contender fees for the tournament itself. This will bring folks out of the woodwork to spend whatever money they can cabbage from whomever they can cabbage it from. The winner and losers will be fine examples of the old adage, "Money talks, BS walks." How much are you willing to spend for your chance at a piece of that million? A few hundred? A few thousand? Ten thousand or more? How much of yourself are you willing to sell to get someone else to foot the bill?

50 lashes with a wet noodle for being "smart", even if you say you didn't mean to be.:P Haven't we already discussed "intent" somwhere? ;) :D
Back in 2014 they were trying to generate hype for GT6 and future iterations of the game. Did that championship ever actually happen? I don't recall that it did, but, I'm old and may misremember. The thing is, this tournament won't be run on any version of GT. So, in this regard PD isn't even in the back seat with this esport thing, they are 4 or 5 cars back and unlikely to even make the podium in this particular race.

It won't be done. It won't be clean. It won't be stable online. Not only that, it's likely the game will finally get released when the PS4 is a year or two from EOL and new gen consoles are getting ready to ship.

Major stockholders don't give a tin fart in a whirlwind about anything but the dividends paid and they don't care how that dividend gets generated, as long as it does. PD is being propped up by Sony, who is allowing them, if not downright encouraging, to behave in the fashion they have for the last 2 versions of Gran Turismo. Kaz is resting on the laurels of everything prior to GT5 and PD and Sony will likely miss the eSport auto racing train they laid all that ground work for from way back in 2008.

The whole situation is sad for those of us who have no aspirations for world dominance and just want to goof off with some friends. Now we'll have to pay, and pay, and pay for that goofing off. Next on the list to pay for, Air. Reckon I just don't qualify as a "Diehard Fan".

Reckon I'll just have parties at my house and have TT tournaments to go along with poker games and ping pong tourneys.

Oh no buddy. You deserved that win. I think you were sandbagging all this time. Lol too much time around that @Raw10_2u !!!!
Great driving keep it up!

@Dragonwhisky what actions by Sony make you feel they allow, promote, or even care about the specific manner in which PD does business? Only curious to your insight.
Probably just the fact that Kaz is, or was, on Sony's Board of Directors. I've been unable to find any current list of Sony's BoD that shows him on it, but an article www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/kazunori-yamauchi from a google search shows him as a corporate exec at Sony back in 2008. I can't load the page here at work to fully read it but other articles portray PoDi as owned, in part or whole by Sony.

Esport is not new "https://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5-asia-online-tournament-2011-launches/" "http://charlie.com.my/buy-now-gt5/" Gran Turismo has been used for tournments for ages. GTAcademy was a rebranding of what was a local market.

Hell SNAIL is an Eleague, From what I understand GTSport is modeling itself after SNAIL. the ranking system is very similar to what we already do.

I would have no problem paying $50 for a tournament if they do actually allow us to compete with like skilled individuals within a region for prizes. looking at the SNAIL Member Map saying my region is all of Ontario that would make my competition Userid, Richy bugz, Oshawa joe, lobban and the sheep herder. Knowing who in my area add paddy and major. Now with that list lobban, paddy and major would be in my skill range maybe the sheep herder not sure haven't race him in a long time. however the likes of User, richy and oshawa wouldn't be.

My concern is will it have the same online play as GT5/6 so that I could still compete against my SNAIL brothers/sisters.

Would I be able to play for the prizes say sponsored by Best Buy, Canadian Tire, Walmart, EBgames and who ever they can scrounge up to sponsor the tournaments.

It could be a great time with a boom to local economies saying that the finals are at oh... Canadian Tire Motorsports park on the IMSA race weekend (which I will go to again anyways).

There is a lot of potential around what could be, for GTS the problem is are they going to be ignoring the fan base they have now and make a game for the elite racers or make an all inclusive game where the ranking system gives everyone the opportunity to win.

Sorry for my ignorance but maybe someone can dumb it down for me..
So what your saying is if and when GT SPORT finally comes out there will be no single player and no "free" online Spec racing as in SNAIL for example..
Only pay to play?

As far as paying goes, as of yesterday, (price increase), the cost of playing online on the PS4 for a year is now $69.99

@Die_Birdy_Die come on over to the dark side and see how fast we all are now, well, except for DP, lol.

From what the reports are showing, and from what I'm gathering there will not be an open lobby like now. It will be more like the online quick matches we have now. where it puts you in with like ranked players.

The single player will be more or less the licensing test of GT6. With no AI racing like we have now. I hope it's not true...

PS4 pro comes in Nov. 10th, Gonna have to build me one of them fancy G27 converters or something not going to be able to afford a new wheel for a while.

All you guys should stop whining like little girls about GTS. Lol, lol.

Pcars has flaws, but is the best new game out there. The Snail Pitts series is experiencing almost full rooms now as more of you guys are buying up to the PS4. AC has no private online rooms so it's dead in the water till they figure that out.

The Dark Side is the way to go. Do it DO IT. You are going to upgrade eventually.

P cars biggest issue is the non tuning that snail would want correct?

There is an option to used default setups, which is spec racing.
The biggest problem for the main SNAIL series would be the very limited car selection compared to GT. You'd be going over repeats pretty fast, but I honestly don't mind, because the racing is what matters and the racing is always good in the main SNAIL series (although I'm a huge fan of the PITS series, my favourite now, because I love endurance).
