It's going to be a really good sunday. All 3 combo's are fun, fast with spots to make you pay for errors.

I was a little surprised and disappointed you didn't pick the La Sarthe option for the L'il Divil. It would have been a wild and exciting ride with a pack of cars drafting down that long bumpy straight and into the tight Mulsanne corner

Not complaining though, HSR may be more clinical but it should provide good racing. 👍

...here birdie birdie birdie..
That chick is really a babe!

Question all: When I set up a room, it defaults to 'Fixed Room Host' and I cannot change it - it's 'grayed out'. I have tried new rooms and I have tried loading saved room settings. I can change everything else without issue. Ideas?

So, practice room open - for about half an hour or so...

You have to change it before you open the room.

Check like bowler said to be sure you're selecting it before opening the room... I also think that if you're NAT type is 3 it defaults to fixed. If that's the case, this is not good. Are you running wireless connections ?

Edit: Just saw the post about being Nat type 3. Go get that fixed.

・Type 3
NAT type 3 is different to types 1 and 2. Players whose NAT type has been determined as 3 may not be able to take part in online races.

In Gran Turismo 6, players whose NAT type has been determined as 3 will experience the following differences in their gameplay experience:

・In the Open Lobby mode's Room Selection screen, only rooms which have fixed ownership are displayed.
・When creating a new room in Open Lobby mode, only rooms with fixed ownership can be created.
・The "Specify Room Number" option is not available on the Open Lobby mode's Room Selection screen.

Players whose bandwidth has been determined as "Very Low" or whose NAT type has been determined as 3 may experience an improved online racing experience by adjusting the following room settings. Please also refer to the "About UPnP" and "About Port Forwarding" pages.

・Select a race quality setting that's lower than the automatic setting.
・Reduce the max. number of players in the room.
・Disable voice chat

--Wire your connections or at least try port forwarding you need to get it to at least a NAT2 to have no issues. Even if you aren't noticing issues, with a NAT3 I'm sure the room you are in is experiencing issues.

So, move my router closer to my PS3? Other than that I have no idea how to fix it - are there setting s in the PS3?

If you hard wire to the router or modem it will instantly fix the problem. Wired to the router will give you NAT 2 (most common) to the modem will give you NAT 1 (best)

Moving your router closer will not change the fact that it's still wireless. Right now you are completely dependent on someone else to provide a suitable connection for you. If you were to be placed in a division without a fixed host, you would not be able to race at this point.

As User said, I'm pretty sure your connection is creating some issues in any room that you join. If nothing else, it is placing even more stress on the fixed host's connection.

OK, I'll see what I can do. I don't remember it being Nat 3 previously. Thanks for all of the info.

---But... will it make me FASTER!?

I went from being wireless (15ft from router) to hardwired and noticed an immediate difference. Load time for joining lobbies significantly improved. They make pretty long cat-5 cables, I'm sure you can Jimmy something together and get wired in. That sucks you've been racing this whole time with those conditions. Good luck!
