D2 Data for 12/11/16 is complete and congrats to our popular winner on the night @nmcp1. It's nice to see that he's as fast at making his prize announcements as he is on the track and at responding to new member requests 👍

In tandem with SNAIL's 5 Anniversary celebrations, I'd like to say that what happened during and after Sunday's racing epitomised all that is good about this organisation and why, coming up to my own 3rd anniversary with SNAIL, I still enjoy being involved despite the stupidly weird hours it means I have to stay up till to compete.

After last week's welcome return of nmcp1 to the D2 Rock Steady Crew, we were delighted to see @Dragonwhisky in the lobby and the general atmosphere was great throughout the night despite a couple of little mishaps! The racing was fast and tough but, above all, respectful as it should be. Nuno deservedly pipped me to the win in a tiebreaker but I can honestly say that I didn't feel an iota of disappointment as the fun factor on the night was, and always will be, the main priority. Of course we are all competing and it is nice to win but I have to say the couple of nice complimentary messages I received after means more to me than any prize win.

Later, we had further small examples of how we all work together. Tom was missing a replay so I was happy to upload it and when it came to me to input the data I found I was also missing a replay. So I asked for someone to post a pic of the information and within 5 minutes I found that Dragonwhisky had filled in the gaps in the data for me.

So, in conclusion, I would like to mark the anniversary to thank all my buddies, not just in D2 but throughout the divisions, that I have the pleasure of racing/practicing with through the week. I'd also echo the thanks to @zer05ive and everyone involved in running the show.

Long may this band of brothers (and the odd sister) keep on snailin!

...Dragonwhisky had filled in the gaps in the data for me. ....

I'm telepathically sending you the data. I will also take control of your fingers... :sly::mischievous:

Ok. Done. You can have your fingers back now. :D

Technically, by the testimony above, you did it all, so, if there's any screw ups in the data, blame @turnupdaheat . :P :mischievous::sly:

Interesting how the higher the division the less IRs overall

The higher divisions don't have the longest tenure of existence. There has always been a D1 (or it's equivalent), then D2, then D3, etc for longevity.

I'm sure there would be a way @msgt-sd could produce a spreadsheet that showed the number of total races or race nights by each division, then you could compare that with the total number of IR's filed.

I think by "higher" @DesertPenguin09 meant higher ranking, not numerically higher. The higher the "rank" of division, the lower the IR's.

This is to be expected anyways and absolutely showcases what the SNAIL format was presumably intended to do. That is develop drivers into faster, more precise and higher quality sim racers.

The only graph there that shows a downward trend as you get to the higher ranking divisions is the penalty rate. All that shows is that a lower percentage of IRs filed in the higher ranking divisions result in penalties.

Exactly, just a general trend. And by being around longer getting to those higher divisions, one develops respect with other drivers on the track.
One develops respect, but that's there in all divisions. One also develops skills and patience. Speaking of patience, I really enjoyed our race in the Hun-days Sunday - you made me work my butt off!

Happy fifth Snail - salud to a great group of people!

I dont know , D2 and 3 have the most incidents filed and that's where I've always thought the cleanest and best racing was , even when we had 7 and 8 divisions

Skills and patience go watch myself and @WIDEeyedDRIVR around Nurb in race 2. We found ourselves side by side thru ALOT of turns and sections. Was a flipping blast and the absolute most fun I'd had racing in a very long time.

It's also where the closest racing is as well as being two divisions that have always been there since the inception of the automated IR system. There is more to that theory but it would involve speaking ill of a group of people so it doesn't need to be said. Those that have been here a while and served as stewards will probably know the rest of that theory.
