Because you guys are crazy?
Do the fast drivers still leave ABS=1? I'm having trouble with getting the car to turn in on tracks like Silverstone on those flat high speed right turns (turn 1, 9, and sometimes 15). I understand to get maximum turn-in grip you sometimes have to trail brake to get the weight up front, but often times the car just won't rotate for me and it understeers until the speed is slower than if I had just done all my braking ahead of time and coasted through the turn. I'll be scrubbing speed with my foot on the braking waiting for the car to rotate, while faster drivers brake later, come up my rear end fast, have better turn in, and can just power around me while I'm still trying to get the car to turn. It could be the tire model, that offers more grip at the start of your turn, but quickly fades? I don't know. It's something that has always plagued my driving, especially at Silverstone with its flat corners.
Bolded, italicized, and underlined the most important part of trail braking. Anyone can trail brake, few can trail brake correctly. I find it much harder to do in gt6 than real life in my Formula Vee. Mainly because I can feel the weight transfer, unlike in game. Like anything in a video game, you rely on visual cues to try and make sense of what's happening. Very tricky@GTLehman I just upgraded from DFGT to G29 as well, but unless I'm in a FWD car, braking more mid corner should always induce some amount of oversteer. It seems like the fast drivers throw the car into the turn with a simultaneous brake/turn action. This gives the tires up front insane grip and it works, but you have to time it just right. If I am more cautious and build pressure a little slowly on the brake pedal and wait for the moment where there's enough front grip to rotate, it never happens. The car just plows no matter how hard I brake. It's like there is a split second time frame where the tires are cool and give you that edge, but after that it's gone and you end up cooking the outside front tire with too much steering angle.
I personally use ABS 1 and sometimes none. A lot of getting the most front end grip is trail braking, but also being in the right gear at the right time. At Silverstone there are some corners where you want to downshift before or during the corner or shift up before you've reached track out. In that McLaren you have to keep your foot a little in the gas at all times to really get it to sing through the corners too. I'll be on later tonight to try the new combos, I can do a few laps in the McLaren to show you what I'm doing as far as when I'm shifting and stuff if you want.Do the fast drivers still leave ABS=1?
