So I got to try GT Sport at Pax East. They only had controller setups, but I enjoyed it. I did a lap around the ring at sunset in a Mercedes AMG GT3 car and it felt pretty good.

Here's a video of someone else playing (no game audio since it was via headphones).

One thing I did notice was there were 20 cars on track and it looked like it supported multi class racing.

Would you say it's close to the handling physics of GT6? If the physics don't change drastically, and fall in line with something like Project Cars or Assetto Corsa, I'm afraid GTSport's going to be "no deal" for me.
You don't like the PCars physics?

Quite the contrary! I love Project Car's physics. But I love Assetto even more. Assetto Corsa really lets you feel the tires slipping, and you're always searching for grip.

GTSport will have to be as good as Project Cars for me to buy it. I just won't go back to screeching tires that grip regardless of kerbs, grass, dirt, etc. GT6 physics are antiquated, and I won't go backwards now that I've experienced how real sim racing feels.

I have signed up for the GTSport Beta, and hope to be a fortunate tester. I'd give it a fair shot with an open mind. I'm actually very optimistic about GTSport. I want it to be the best racing sim for consoles. But they have a very steep hill to climb. And from what I've read, folks that have driven GTSport say the physics and tire sounds are very similar to GT6 - not what I was hoping to hear. In fact, I've secretly been hoping the delay has been the result of ProjectCar's and Assetto's recent success. My hope is that PD tried these games themselves and said, "STOP, we have to do better with our driving physics, we can't compete with what we have now." We'll see how it shakes out.

@Gr8_Lakes I actually wonder if they are going to go against the grain and NOT develop a more realistic physics engine in an attempt to re-create their own niche market of "sim" racers. Specifically, those that enjoy the racing and the cars, but not the realistic level of difficulty. With such a big surge in "true-sim", do they dare stick to what people are comfortable with and promote "sim-cade" as their Real Driving Simulator?

I read the TAG Heurr - GT partnership article.
Question: Is that an actually functioning Timing part of GT Sport, or just an advertising contract?

I'd guess just a chance to nail down an advertising contract.

A good point that recently crossed my mind as well. I was watching a TV show last night on Velocity where the focus was on the new SGC 003 supercar. When they showed the Nurburgring 24H competition version, the windshield had the big "Gran Turismo - The Real Driving Simulator" banner across the top. I thought that's a bold marketing statement to make in this day and age.

CONGRATS TO ALL THE PRIZE WINNERS

RACE HARD / RACE CLEAN / RACE SNAIL
My apologies once again this week for the lack of racing photos. Life has been quite hectic for me the last little while and it doesn't look like it will be letting up any time soon. I may not make the races again this week. Hope things get better soon and I can post some proper banners .. Good luck everyone.

Heard of the 'Quote' button?

Sure. How about I explain exactly how I use it...

I quoted GTL with a direct response to his question. Then, because GR8 replied to the thread basically at the same time as that post of mine, I responded to him with a tag because as we all know a member will not receive an alert if they are quoted or tagged as a post edit. After that I remembered I wanted to respond to Tex's question so I quoted him with my response so he would receive an alert that somebody responded.

So Mr. Wolf, allow me to formally apologize for being so absurdly negligent in my post conduct. Furthemore, it is a darn shame that I couldnt' possibly keep track of everything I wanted to respond to as I got caught up reading through the thread. I'll do my best to be a better message board communicator and in general a more perfect person...

I certainly hope GTS pulls out something great. I fully agree though, I personally will be hard to impress after trying PCars. I just think we are very lucky to have such great sims to choose from, and it just keeps getting better.

Yeah... really. A fish slap or the addition of a smiley would have better hinted toward lighthearted rib-jabbing, but I read your post as very dry, straight to business & condescending in nature. If your intention was a simple poke I apologize, but it didn't come off that way at all.

Not looking good just on the fact that they can't get the names of real tires that are used on cars. It's just this comfort, sport, racing crap all over again...
