Final rig update:

I spent most of the afternoon setting everything up. My pedals were delivered just as I finished up mounting my wheel to the stand, good timing! But I ran out of time and with the early start last night I didnt get a chance to try it out until after we raced.

I can already tell this will take me some time to get used to. After using just my thumbs to race for so long, now using all my extremities is quite a challenge. I only had a chance to practice a few laps in Combo1 of last night, and I spun out quite a few times. And the long sweeping left hander downhill before the chicane was giving me problems. I cant seem to turn the wheel enough to full lock, and feel comfortable while doing it.

So a question for you guys with with wheels: do you leave the degrees of rotation to default? Or do you lower it so you dont have to turn the wheel as much?

I dont want to start practicing right out of the gate with a "wrong" setup. If most people use a 720/540/xxx degrees of steering, that's what Id like to learn on. I know its not a one size fits all, and people use whatever feels comfortable to them, but I'm just looking for some advice. Just feels very awkward turning the wheel to full lock, and then back to center.

I will put in a lot of time this week getting used to it, and hope to be somewhat competitive next Sunday. So if you see me in a practice lobby and I happen to make contact with you or spin out in front of you, heres my apologies in advance. I'm going to be a noob for awhile.

@aerolite @Mike Lobban I wont be making it to the PCars lobby tonight for obvious reasons. GT will be hard enough getting used to, and PCars is a whole different ballgame.

And any tips for the T300RS will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My G29 is arriving today, newegg is on top of it!

Best Buy has the G29 at $199 again. Last time it got sold out. Great deal for this price. however I do recommend getting the geek squad protection.
Has come in handy replacing wheel twice. I actually made money, since it got sold out last time, they just refunded me the whole Kaboom and purchase it somewhere else for cheaper. :sly:

It was mike... Didn't recognize the Ghost of Fury name... He was around before I left...
Ratsallad and Yolo are new... aren't they.. at least newer than the old veteran snails.

@SAMHAIN85 The game will auto set the degrees of rotation on the T300 for each car. Even though you can manually adjust the degrees of rotation by holding the MODE button and using the D-pad left/right arrows, the game will reset the rotation to what it wants you to use at the start of each race.

There have been new BoP adjustments with the newest update. The only one to affect us is the Mustang Gr. 4 which has gone from 107% weight to 105% weight. So it's a little lighter which should help in the high speed esses.

Well last night was my first ever victory with Snail, although it was with the Lambo on reverse grid, and as much as I was pumped about the win, and the clean race bonus, the mood was a little dampened when I realized that there was a pile up behind me, that likely helped my cause immensely!! I did notice though, that there were at least a couple of laps where I was being chased, but not caught, so I still feel ok about it, but for some reason it feels like a Nascar fuel mileage race win since I'll never know if I could have held everyone off or not.

@DublDee

A win is a win take it when you can. Got my first win of gtsport in snail last night too and i had a lot of advantages such as starting on pole, a battle for second and the ease of controlling gt3 cars with the ds4 while the wheel guys are fighting for control. I know its not a 100% credible win but finally i broke through with a win so im happy.

I almost rage quit the night the previous race too after being battered to hell from 1st to last in one lap but am glad i stuck it out. It is hard to persevere when things are going so bad but it is the mark of a true sportsman to gut it out and finish races. I gave up and parked race 5 and in hindsight am embarrassed i quit like that. I apologize to d2 and will try to have more patience going forward.

as one of those guys who "chased you but could not catch you" don't sell yourself short buddy ! D4 is crazy competitive

Thanks buddy, and Yes it is very competitive, and we have a great group here in D4, as well as all the divisions. I actually learn quite a lot from the Thursday night practices, practicing with the other divisions, but I need to dedicate a little more time to this, which I intend to do.

True @basswerks1

Even though i am "D2", i still struggle to chase D4 drivers in practice such as yourself bass. The divisions arent that far apart speedwise. I tend to make very few mistakes which is why i can finish well often and stay in D2 but i am not lighting the world on fire with my lap times. Hopefully i can get my speed up because my ultimate goal is to get up in D1 and duke it out with the aliens. Its always fun to chase the best around.

Congrats and you’re welcome.

A win is a win and half of the battle is racing a clean race.

After racing tonight, I'm going to have to go into retirement again. Lots of great people in D1, but one person just ruins it for me. This is a great league to be a part of and hopefully things improve in the future. Best of luck everyone and congratulations on the win tonight @SAMHAIN85. Very well deserved.

Last night was a buzz kill but dont let that stop you from competing with us in the future. Hopefully the admins will take action to ensure bs like that doesnt happen again. Great racing with you 👍

Typically it’s not outright lap times that define the divisions. Racecraft and consistency play a role in that as well. Right now I am averaging at least a crash per race while trying to come to grips with the differences in feedback and new tracks between PCars 1 and GTS. I’ll get there but I’m struggling a bit right now.

Def had some good close battles in D2 until I lose it somewhere.

No worries...it’ come.

@SAMHAIN85

Although I do not play GTS I do adjust as necessary in PC2, just in a different manner.

I always keep my wheel in auto so it picks up what's ever the rotation the game tells it is appropriate for any given vehicle. However, since I race mostly in an open tune league now, I will adjust a car's steering ratio as needed so I do not have to physically steer more than I feel I need for a given setup or track. It mostly boils down to preference and ability to control the car. If you find yourself constantly feeling "pushy-loose", you may want to try less rotation so the car requires less input to get it to steer as much as you need and also less to get back to center quicker.

I feel exactly the same way. I'm my own worst enemy.

Basically, why adjust your wheel on a technical level when you can adjust the individual car's steering ratio which theoretically accomplishes the same thing?

I just wasnt sure what most people set theirs up as. I dont want to learn the wheel on 1080 and then find out later "oh, its common knowledge to reduce your steering degrees to 720 in GT".

Thanks for the advice. I guess I just need to put in the time and itll start feeling more natural.

I did notice how much easier it is to get on the gas exiting turns. I've never been good at 50% gas/throttle on the sticks, its usually just 100% or 0%. But with the gas pedal I already saw an improvement in corner exits. (namely the final turn in the Mustang @ Yamagiwa)

And those corners we always talk about pedals having an advantage on, long sweepers. You will learn to use your foot, ankle, and leg muscles in ways you might not have even in real life driving. It's a great sensation when you get it just right.

C'mon Chris, join us tonight in your new rig, it might be our only chance of beating you, we will even let you race in Group B! Seriously, glad to see you finally make the move to a wheel, see ya soon.
