Haha. I voted 2 this week. I struggled with combo 3 but I blamed it on the car not the track.

It was the track. I tried with different cars and it was just as terrible. PD has made some pretty good reverse fictional tracks but I feel that they missed the mark on this one.

I would like to add that the version of Bathurst in GTS is much improved over the version that was in GT6. The track still doesn't have enough good places to pass for such a short race but at least it's not trying to simulate a seizure with poor frame rate.

Hey, JLBowler is the one to complain and I haven't even posted yet today!

I wish the the car was staying as it's fun but there are barely any small tracks that suit it better (maybe Brands Hatch is it), so a faster car at Bathurst does kind of make sense.

As much as I didn't like the track, I did at least finish both races. As long as I'm not busy with something else, I'll show up again and race it in a couple of weeks (and probably vote for it again). That's how the process works. Maybe if I spend a little time practicing instead of thinking 20 minutes total on Sunday afternoon is good enough then I'll win some prizes and get to make my own picks. Until then, to the victors go the spoils and they can pick whatever they want.

@JLBowler , since we do not race for 2 weeks , how long do I have to pick a car? Kinda want to wait and see if the update gives us anything exciting.

Official practice for the next race night won't be until Jan. 4 so I'm going to say you have until Jan. 3 to make a choice. I'll start to bug you around Jan. 2 just to make sure you're working on it.

LOL reading is fun. The combo at bathurst is staying, but thank you for playing.
Can I try again next time! Lol, my bad I didn't see Zer0's post and just reading Bowler's it made me think the Bathurst combo was being discussed.

If anyone wants to get a ball rolling I'm around to test stuff today. Is it possible to have no vehicle restrictions in-game and we can choose cars of multiple classes? I'm thinking a Gr.4/Gr.3 race. Head over to that link if you want to talk about it further.

Yo almost pulled the win and gave a run for the money. great job.

It is almost as good as racing.

Now I know why you had a C rating.
I did a few daily races yesterday with the GR3 and GR4 cars.

It seems that the only way to keep your rating healthy is to let everyone pass without a fight as normal OLR rules don't apply to the game.

The only good thing Ic is that now the daily races seem to be grouped by driver rating.

Someone if I e eventually make it to A or S, in theory it should be much cleaner.

For the bad, the Bop settings on GR4 cars is all over the place. Renaults being super fast to the point to smoke Vetted and Stangs on long straights. Gimme a break.

Between the daily sport races and the FIA races, I think Gr.3 & Gr.4 have been beat to death already. How about something new and exciting?

it seemed like the cars you got in prizes were heavily weighted towards race cars, so I'm not very surprised that we've mostly run race cars. For prize winners it easier to justify tested a bunch of cars you already have vs buying new unknown cars that may be a waste of credits.

That, and a historic hate for anything under 200hp. Not that there is much to go on there, this time round.

Yep. They are most often one and done combos right after they provide the closest racing we've seen in months. Slower cars need less space to drive which makes good racing possible on tighter tracks. It also means that everyone can run closer together as there is more reaction time with the slower car. Faster cars, while fun to drive alone, need more room on the track to do anything. Tighter tracks with faster cars turn into a parade of guys waiting for a mistake from the guy in front of them. You also have to keep your distance from others when you have a faster car as you have less reaction time. Put all this together and it's pretty easy to determine that, the slower the car, the closer the racing. Of course, this is generally speaking and there will be exceptions but for the most part, that statement is true.

Before someone can say it. Yes, slower cars can turn into a parade as well but with the slower car, you can be right on someone and when that mistake happens, you're already there to capitalize. With a faster car, when that mistake happens, you're too far back to capitalize. Slower cars require planning your attack while faster cars just require reacting to what happens.

When we say Drive Fast, Drive Clean, Drive Snail... this is what we mean... 5 laps of door-to-door battle with @Grandpa Money. I felt like I had a workout in the gym after this race

@TEX36 @Machinist

I have never been a video guy... I love stills much more than video. So, here's my take on Clean Fast Racing.

Here's Mr Struggle capitalizing on @DublDee at turn 1; he does not complete the pass there, but sets up nicely for the climb / pass still on sector 1.

Here's a mistake on the Wolf and Mr. Struggle is there to capitalize on it . I used the brakess not in a straight line which makes the car understeer like a MFKr and barely kept it off the wall. Machinist has a nice clean entrance and an easy pass.

This is lap 2 and @TEX36 under attack, but decide to pull off to avoid an incident on the last tricky turn.

Difference between Early Breaking vs Late Breaking. I actually missed the sweet spot as well, as in the best case, I should be closer to the apex and already on the throttle instead of brakes. This is the tight right after the downhill.

Last lap, this is the fast right hander (where there is no need to use brakes) on straight we are neck to neck; and I am wishing / hoping / praying that Machinist is going to hold his line. At the exit he does goes a bit too wide and I put 2 tires on grass, but able to save enough momentum to take the next tight left with good position and complete the pass. No contact whatsoever.

Ok. I know what you mean, when I say I struggled I just mean that I never got a feel for the car. It was a great battle and clean race and very fun! Nice pics wolf!

Since racing is off for the next 2 weeks, thought I'd spend a little extra time on the livery editor. Here a are a few pictures of a few different versions of the Flying Lizard Motorsports paint schemes. Back in the early 2000's to around 2014 they were the North American representative team of Porsche racing, and one of my favorite race liverys. Though they no longer use the Porsche 911 (now Audi R8), these are representations of what the Lizards could look like using the current 991 Porsche 911RSR. Enjoy.

You're probably going to want to read this thread. You're not the first person this has happened to.
Bowler,

Thank you for forwarding me this link. Disappointing that there is no patch for this glitch. Well, at least I have two weeks to start the game over. A glitch that punishes the owner, no reward. I’m sure this could happen to any of our Snail crew!

Cheers,
