The last dirt license test I did struggle with, but when I finally golded it was with 4/10 to the good. Sheesh. I wish I was as good as they want me to feel. Ha!

Question to the masses, what do you use for a microphone. I want to be able to party chat in the future and was not sure what works the best with the PS4.
I have a set of regular wired headphones that come with a mic. It's meant for phones since it has a button for play/pause/next and a volume scroll but they're Sennheiser HD219S and really nice. They're on hear instead of over ear so they're more comfortable for extended periods of time.

Option 2 is the Turtle Beach PX22. Yes they're wired but I have a cable extender to give them lots of slack.

I just use the originally ear bud with inline microphone that came with the PS4 (hopefully you stashed it somewhere). Then I get to use my surround sound for the game, and can click the mic on and off. It works fine for the short times we chat during the Sunday night league. I have used it for extended periods of time while shareplaying or in a party for a different game, and while it isn't the most comfortable, it works.

I used a set of Sony Pulse Elite wireless headset on PS3 which sounded good but the mic was not very reliable. They ultimately failed to charge because the little connector socket you plugged the usb charging cable into became loose.

I now have the Astro A50 headset and they are wireless in every way. Charging is done by simply placing them in the base station cradle. They're 7.1 surround and you can hear what is happening at each corner of the car. Plus, they are light weight and very comfortable.

Wow, that is fancy! Way better than my earbud solution.

And also $300. I will never be able to justify spending more than ~$100 on gaming headphones. That's as much as a wheel, a wheel stand, even a console!

I use the same headphones as Sam and have had no issues. Honestly the only issue I could see anyone running into would be needing a usb hub for an extra slot if both of yours are currently filled.

I've been eyeing those Astros for over a year. If PCars 3 didn't have such an audio mess on PS4, I'd probably have them already.

I'm looking at the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 and 700. Is Virtual Surround good enough to save 40 bucks or is 7.1 in headphones actually worth it?

Bought this exact headet on Amazon a little over a year ago. For less than 30 bucks it’s working just fine. Clear volume in game, clear voice, etc. Sure it’s corded, but as mentioned previously, get an extender and you’ll have no issues. The price is right and the quality is outstanding over a year in use.
