Surprise surprise.....Merica gets another expansion team! Gary Betman is an idiot......Just my opinion.
I'm not against the USA getting expansion teams but we have several cities in Canada that I can guarantee you would get a lot better turn out than several US teams.(Florida, Nashville, Phoenix, etc). At one time if you traded your old non-winning lotto ticket you could get a ticket to a Florida game.....straight across trade, LMAO

Do you by chance live in Stoney Creek?

I played for about 20 some years myself. Pee-Wee through high school, then in some organized "Old Man" leagues back in Cleveland.
Yes sir played for 15 years some of the most fun iv ever had. I was hoping the houston Aeros were gonna get the bid but seattle beat them out.

I'm a backwards Canadian - I played once growing up (it was a March break camp type thing when I was 7, and the coaches literally were encouraging 2 kids who got into a fight... in a neutral camp...) and didn't like it, plus I was a late birthday and always a small kid growing up.

Fast forward 20 years and countless years of sports later - I decide to start playing hockey, that was last January and I'm in love. Too bad I didn't have a better experience when I was younger as I definitely grew into a hockey players body (6'2, 200lbs)

Good thing is there is TONS of hockey being played here at every age imaginable, they literally have Mens' leagues here for guys who didn't start playing until they were an adult.

@DublDee, I couldnt agree more. IMO, there should be no hockey team south of the Mason-Dixon line...LOL. I can grandfather in the LA Kings, as they were part of the 1967 expansion, Dallas, eh, the old Minnesota North Stars/Oakland Seals/Cleveland Barons. Florida, Nashville, Arizona, Las Vegas, Carolina, those teams need to relocate.
I was a huge fan of the Quebec Nordiques, I actually have Joe Sakics home and away jerseys (replicas, but the home one is autographed!). Quebec needs a team, and Im sure there are a few others that would support a team as well.
The city closest to my home town, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan(I know, quite a handle hey) supports a pro lacrosse team(Saskatoon Rush) and you can't get tickets for those games unless your one of the early worms, and I get this place only seats 12,000 people, but they have agreed to build a new arena large enough for an NHL team, and obviously would have the fan base for it, but good ol' Gary doesn't see it our way.
Oh well, my team is the Bruins anyway, and I doubt I would change that, even if we had a local team, but I would support it.(especially when the Bruins would come to town, lol).

Wow that's pretty cool man that's something you dont see alot of here in texas hockey at one time was growing pretty well but has died off since 2010 less and less players every year

Nice...Original 6 team supporter.

Much to my families dismay.....They are Montreal & Toronto fans, and for some reason I was fascinated with Bobby Orr and the Bruins since I was a little kid.....I think it was their rough n tough style. Nothing better than an old rivalry game between the Bruins and the Broadstreet Bullys.
It was before my time but man I watched some of those games on ESPN classics and he could fly down the ice. Amazing 2 way player

The best, imo. Gretzky was great and today's players are amazing too though....that McDavid is crazy good, he just needs a real team to be a part of. The style I enjoyed the most was the old time hockey. Very little equipment and a lot less injuries.....Players didn't put themselves in positions to be hit from behind, and there was no such thing as a dive, which seems to be a huge part of today's game. Overpaid spoiled kids acting out on the ice is one thing that really burns my A$$ about the game now.

I agree with ya on that one. Personally when the NHL fazed out enforcers the league took a big step backwards and the game completely changed.

On a trip to Toronto with my wife son and daughter back in 1994, we had the pleasure of meeting the great one at his restaurant, Gretzky’s. Kids got autographs and pictures with him. What a gentlemen and role model.

The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 1 - FERRARI 512 BB 1976 (SS) at Autódromo De Interlagos - 13:45 Fine Weather (6 laps)
Therefore the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since @JLBowler wins Prize A, he gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 2 - PORSCHE 911 RSR 2017 (RH) at Red Bull Ring - 09:45 Fine Weather (7 laps)
This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since @SAMHAIN85 gets Prize B, he has the option to freeze the car or the track, or he can give that option to the Prize C winner. If he gives the freeze away, then he gets to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @Grandpa Money so he gets whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it has been confirmed that you don't have any penalties. It's also recommended that you review the SNAIL combo history and other data on our car and track history so that you can get an idea how many times we've raced each car and track. Please remember that originality is always appreciated, so picking cars and tracks that we've never raced is a plus (but not required). What's more important is that you thoroughly test any combo that you are considering before making it your official selection. For example, any car you select should not hit its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in the draft).

IMPORTANT: When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting. For example, if you want to select the Amuse Superlegara for your car, post "Amuse Nismo 380 RS Superlagara". If you want to select Monza for a track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza". This makes it much easier for the lineup to be updated accurately and also prevents confusing other league members as to which car or track you are selecting. Also, please be sure to list the PP and HP (after oil change) of any car you select.

Car Selection Guidelines
See Section 3 of the SNAIL OLR, Policies and Guidelines.

Track Selection Guidelines

View media item 2540This week's prize winners are clear to make their selections. Good racing!
The IR Submission Form is now closed.
We have 3 incidents on file. Target deadline for reviews is NLT 10PM Eastern on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018.

@SAMHAIN85 and @Grandpa Money , you will be included in a conversation in the next few minutes that will contain instructions and deadlines.

I agree with ya on that one. Personally when the NHL fazed out enforcers the league took a big step backwards and the game completely changed.

Personally, I think people are attuned to like whatever they grew up with - hockey in the 80's/90's was rough.
Now, hockey is fast and much more skillful - players today like Mitch Marner wouldn't have existed in the 80's because some stonehead would make it his mission to break him.

The game has changed - and in my opinion it's changed for the better, but I also grew up in an era of speed/skill hockey where enforcers were being left behind - and I didn't have the influence of my parents to sway me (they were not hockey fans).

Pass the freeze to @Grandpa Money

And who knew the subject Hockey would maybe lead us to perhaps the most posts in one day for 2018

Im not much of a hockey fan, not that I dont like it, I just dont really watch it. I do appreciate what a physical sport it is and you've got to be tough and a little insane to play it. And what other sports do they let the players settle their differences right then and there and have it just be part of the game.

I love how the commentators go into boxing commentary mode, sometimes even having the "tale of the tape" stats up. What a wild pro sport. Hopefully that never gets outlawed since thats part of it that makes it so unique.

@Dragonwhisky I dont know what kind of sorecery you're able to pull together to come up with these stats.

Very well put and I can greet with that much more skill now a days than fist especially since they took out the 2 line pass but I do miss the days of the enforcer guys like Stevens and pronger

i WENT TO A BOXING MATCH LAST NIGHT AND A HOCKEY GAME BROKE OUT!:confused::crazy::yuck:

Tie Domi, Bob Probert, Dave Schultz....old timey style goons!

Met Tie Domi in an elevator once - I was doing work for a client who lived in his building.
Dude is tiny, maybe 5'7'' - I towered over him.

What's funny is his son is playing in the NHL and is the exact opposite of his dad, nice quick hands, can skate well etc.

I still do love a good fight though, something about the fact that Hockey still has a certain level of physicality that other sports won't allow.

I think Seattle is a great market. I think teams like Carolina, Arizona and possibly Lauderdale will move to Houston and Quebec City. I can’t wait for their first game in Philly

Seattle was a weird pick - apparently there is a lot of rec/adult hockey going on in the city, but they literally have 8 or 10 sheets of ice.
I've been to ice rink complexes around here that have 8 sheets of ice inside them...

All this hockey talk is great. Probably the bigger differences between old time hockey and today’s game, much of the clutching and grabbing is non existent in today’s game. Can you imagine how many more points Gretzky could have racked up?!

I played back in the day and a lot into my late 30’s but my inspiration for hockey was really formed by the greatest play by play caller in the game, The Sabre’s Rick Jeannette. I recall listening to him call games on the radio a lot (before cable) He made the game bigger and more exciting to me and still today has the best goal and fight calls.

I can do a (scary) good impression of RJ and often do when watching games !

I love hockey!

An excerpt from an article about the expansion franchise. It would seem they won't have a problem drawing.

How much interest is there?
Quite a lot. Seattle has the Mariners, Seahawks, Sounders, Storm and Reign, but they've been hungry for another major professional sports franchise since the SuperSonics left town in 2008. The season ticket drive for the Seattle NHL franchise hit 10,000 deposits (the ownership group's initial goal) in just 12 minutes and over 25,000 in the first day.

For reference, when the Vegas Golden Knights ownership group held their season-ticket drive, it took them two days to reach 5,000 deposits, and two months to reach 9,000. The Seattle group surpassed that in less than 15 minutes.

Full article is on CBSsports.com The full article also mentions that they will be moving into a gutted and remodeled Key Arena.
