I know that the predetermined starting order is the status quo; but wouldn’t doing a one or two lap qualifying be less painful and take up the same amount of time?
In terms of sanctions for previous week’s infractions just have people sit out qualifying.

Gran Turismo 7 - Test Night

Sunday, May 22, 2022 Lineup
GT7 - Test Night #2
1. Audi TT Coupe 3.2 quattro '03 on SS Tires @ Deep Forest Raceway - Reverse - Afternoon - ( 10 Min)
2. Toyota GR86 RZ '21 on SS Tires @ Deep Forest Raceway - Reverse - Afternoon - ( 10 Min)
3. Nissan SILVIA spec-R Aero (S15) '02 on SS Tires @ Deep Forest Raceway - Reverse - Afternoon - ( 10 Min)

If "afternoon" is too vague, then we need to change the time/weather slot to the default (which I don't have)

I liked the Noon time slot when testing in time trial mode. But when I checked it in lobby settings it said Afternoon.

Deep Forest Reverse Afternoon.

Hosts, the following weather settings will best emulate Deep Forest's afternoon time setting:

Weather Selection Method: Preset Weather
Preset Weather: S02 Dry and Pleasant with a Few Clouds
Time of the Day: Afternoon
Variable Time Speed Rate: 1x

We did custom Weather last week, so we will try the Preset options for this week

I’m going to be late tonight for D1 scoring. If no one can enter, just keep the pictures and feed it to me when I get in lobby.

Small grid in D1 tonight, 6 but fell to 5 for most of the night. Still had fun and great racing but man PD has to fix the lobbies ASAP.

The new format is great for feeling the different cars on the same track. The Audi was very unstable on braking, while the 86 was on rails and the S15 was more of a handful.

Lets hope for something about our precious lobbies in this week’s update. Fingers crossed.

So let’s evaluate a bit.

GTS race nights were 6 races designed to not exceed 20mins of actual race time I believe.

In an effort to keep the actual racing time similar I’d be happy if we stayed in GT7. But here’s what I think should probably happen.

If we want to keep our old grid orders then the only way is to start the race, manually set the grid on flag drop via chat, continue the 1st lap nose to tail at half speed and boogity boogity on lap 2.

This is the only sure fire way to ensure grid placement happens accurately.

This process takes extra time of course. Probably in the 5-10min range per race considering all the extra work the scorekeeper has to do and then coordinating all of it via text or chat. Then hoping we are mature enough to make it happen efficiently.

I personally liked the longer races of GTS, these 10min races are over too quickly.

But we either manually set grids (which takes time away from actual racing) and do the 6 10min races and finish in around 2hrs….

Or we could manually set grids, extend the racing time to 15-20mins and do fewer races.

I like spending more quality time on track racing so whatever maximizes that would be preferable :)

At this point GTS isn’t really going to be an option. GT7 driving dynamics are just better. We can make it work until it’s fixed :)

The two lap qualifier idea was floated to set fastest first grids but that’s another huge time consumer that also requires monitoring.

So with the test nights being over I look forward to official racing.

Being a new member, I'm perfectly fine with what the powers-to-be decide. I'm really enjoying the racing and agree on longer races needed. In my opinion regarding the starting grids, I have two comments. First, the quickest and easiest to me is a one lap qualifier. Saves time and gives us longer racing time until the lobbies are fixed. Second, I really haven't seen the benefit of pole position since I've had it most races due to my DR. Some of the other drivers look like their shot out a cannon on the starts and everything is usually sorted out by the first major corner or lap 1. It was comical watching the 1st hairpin last night in the 1st race. Cars were everywhere.

Just having a respectable place to race with people who are genuinely aware of clean racing has been great with SNAIL. Looking forward to racing in GT7 and getting faster and more competitive...

Maybe going to from 3 combos too 2 combos will allow the extra time too set grid and set race for 20 mins so we get a good 15 min race.

Can someone answer with absolute certainty that they are correct this question? What durations are available for timed races in the lobby?
