So let’s evaluate a bit.
GTS race nights were 6 races designed to not exceed 20mins of actual race time I believe.
In an effort to keep the actual racing time similar I’d be happy if we stayed in GT7. But here’s what I think should probably happen.
If we want to keep our old grid orders then the only way is to start the race, manually set the grid on flag drop via chat, continue the 1st lap nose to tail at half speed and boogity boogity on lap 2.
This is the only sure fire way to ensure grid placement happens accurately.
This process takes extra time of course. Probably in the 5-10min range per race considering all the extra work the scorekeeper has to do and then coordinating all of it via text or chat. Then hoping we are mature enough to make it happen efficiently.
I personally liked the longer races of GTS, these 10min races are over too quickly.
But we either manually set grids (which takes time away from actual racing) and do the 6 10min races and finish in around 2hrs….
Or we could manually set grids, extend the racing time to 15-20mins and do fewer races.
I like spending more quality time on track racing so whatever maximizes that would be preferable
At this point GTS isn’t really going to be an option. GT7 driving dynamics are just better. We can make it work until it’s fixed
The two lap qualifier idea was floated to set fastest first grids but that’s another huge time consumer that also requires monitoring.
So with the test nights being over I look forward to official racing.
