Scores are in for Division 1. No votes as they don’t determine anything right now.
Had attrition this evening and ended up with 3 drivers. FWIW, heard that starting with 6 was not much incentive to race all night.

I only saw one driver on D2 test nights who had some serious lag issues and whose car was jumping around quite a bit. Otherwise smooth sailing for me personally. But my internet is quite good. Maybe it is more dependent on your own connection?

No idea but I haven’t really witnessed any sweeping lag issues. If you see lots of issues then it may be yours?

The lag seems to get worse the older the game gets. Tonight, all the cars would jitter side to side the closer you got to them, we all witnessed this issue as it didn't appear to be a single driver causing it.

D1 replays uploaded.

Sorry for the delay in the lobby, was my first night back but I should've been better prepared to fill in hosting duties. Had a few hiccups but I can get used to these new lobbies. Just wish the lag wouldn't be such a bother - Round 1 in particular had significant lag. Regardless, kudos to everybody who contributed to finding these workarounds! :)

Many great racing moments last night, here are some examples, enjoy.

I raced the first 2 races in D1 and they were laggy all the way through, some players more than others, i think kg and i were the ones with the most lag.
i believe that its entirely a problem from the gt7 servers with the differences between ps4 and ps5. my connection was always stable and i used to get decent ping in gt sport.
i think that we can race in gt7 meanwhile and hope they fix this soon.

I had a load of fun even though I was only competitive in the one car. The lag was something else as I don’t think I saw a stable car the entire night and I usually don’t have issues.

I really appreciate everyone making lemonade out of this but it seems there is less and less sugar every week.

Can anyone provide feedback on the race starts? Specifically, getting lined up and starting the race at the start finish line. If it's proving easy to get lined up, we could choose another point on the track for the race start. This could add to actual time spent racing.

As for the lag. It appears that GT7 does not handle connection issues in the same way as GT Sport did. GT Sport would not let a questionable connection into a room or freeze them on the grid is some cases. GT7 apperars to hold up the entire room as opposed to freezing one driver on the grid. There are probably more differences that we don't see as well.

For the sake of everyone's enjoyment and quality of racing everyone should do a couple of things.
1. If you are using WiFi, stop using it and get a cable. They can be found on Amazon dirt cheap and will make a huge improvement. If you are using satelite internet, I feel bad for you but maybe online racing isn't for you. There is a reason that iRacing doesn't allow it.
2. Clear your cache before you enter the room / game on race night.
3. Enter the room as early as possible. Based on a few comments, the stability of the room got better as the night went on.
4. Hosts. Get organized and have the room open sometime between 9 and 9:15 ET to allow everyone to get in.

What was done in D2 was everyone got on track. Ran a lap around the track together at 70 mph then full race start at Start/Finish line starting on lap 2. It was organized that way and party chat helped me to know what needed to be done hosting D2.

How long did it take to get lined up? Could you have started the race at another point before the start finish line?

For d3 we just had people get into order and when you were in line you started racing. Going into second corner was when the race started at brands hatch. That was with only 5 people though so it was relatively easy just to tell who to go first off the start.

Having GT7 on both PS4 and 5, and that I only really play with the same one or two people in the room that are known quantities; there is often lag present on PS4 that isn't on PS5.

Don't let this take away from bowler's post above on improving your connection. If you aren't wired and/or you have half a dozen other people in the house running devices at the same time, you are hurting the quality of your experience and that of everyone else you are racing with.

My opinion matters not one bit, but I applaud you folks using a manual rolling start like real life. More immersive, and if anyone ever decides to make the jump to the real thing having experience with proper starts, even on the sim, is beneficial. 👍

Same in D2. It would look like each of us had some lag then it smoothed out as night went on.
It didn't ever straighten out for me. All night in the corners the cars would jitter. I never pushed much because I didn't know where cars were actually at on track. The 2 practice lobbies I've been in didn't have the issue and I haven't seen it in daily races. I'm still on ps4 for context.

It didn't take long and we did start before the S/F line. It is imperative for all in the lobby to be in the open chat party for instructions. That worked quite well but as @ruggermole said we had a smaller room.

JL, I guess there is a possibility we could have, but given the LAG and first night of racing, seemed to work out better for D2 with using the start finish line, longest race was 14:02 I believe, the rest were in the 13-minute range.

In Div 1, we started at T3. Somewhat arbitrary, but it got the job done. Started with 6 drivers and everyone was courteous at the start. No trying to get jumps on anyone. I'd say that the typical scenario would be that everyone be on party chat, then lobby owner initiates race, then everyone pulls forward of the start line to give room to get into position. When in position, get rolling to 50 mph in single file, giving a car length of space to the guy in front of you. Agree that leader will go after end of turn (whatever: turn 2 or 3 or 4).
Going green after a full lap is fine for most tracks but consider that drivers get antsy in thinking their tires are getting ice cold.
