I was punted off three of the first four races (1st lap on two and 2nd lap on one).

I felt your pain in D2. Most of the problems were my own but I finally gave up during the fourth race after about the third contact in a lap. Some were saying I was lagging and I can't refute that but I didn't see anyone else lag, which is odd. I know that at least some of the contact was not lag-induced. I figured if I was lagging, though, it was better that I just leave.

Something was definitely off. Last week I had pole position at Deep Forest and this week I was last. I doubt everyone has improved by that much. I also took last in qualifying at cape ring. With a disconnect in the second race I had a whopping 17 points after three races.

I guess we need to find someone with a better connection in D2 to host. Last night left me battered and angry.

Rooms are gonna need cleared out at 15 till racing. The host swaps are causing major lag and no traction.

This is a problem. We (Zer0) should set some precedent here and ask for everyone except for the designated host to leave the room fifteen minutes before start and also ask everyone to not join the room until the host has arrived.

I guess we need to find someone with a better connection in D2 to host. Last night left me battered and angry.

We don't seem to have a designated host; Tcrash is in D3 now and I don't think I have an A connection anymore. D2 folks, can y'all post your result from the Speedtest.net test please?

Edit: Here's my work connection. I'm not sure why it's so counter-intuitively unbalanced.

I told everyone multiple times that i would leave and come back so i didn't have to host and everyone said na its cool i told them my connection was 25 download and 5 upload so they said it was working fine during practice, i saw two people lagging and it was the same two in each race so if the host was the problem wouldn't that mean that everyone should be having connection or lag issues?

its COLOR TIME

I am working on updating the color sheet and I know some people have posted color requests or asked me while racing. I will admit that I have forgotten or can not find those request.

So if you do not mind can you quote this with any color requests please.

I think it has been cleared but just to confirm color: Hibiscus Red w/ Aqua Blue Metallic wheels. I'm not sure about numbers, 17, 28, 12, 40 in that order. I can choose a different number if those are taken.

I'm not sure how laggy you really were. I know that at least once (and there's one other time I suspect) that people thought you were lagging but on my screen you were just loose. Maybe people behind saw the smoke and just assumed.

That said, there was certainly something suboptimal about the lounge. I couldn't get within half a second of my usual pace in the first two rounds, and while I did much better at Spa, I was still nearly a second slower than I practiced. So, I agree. Let's get the D2 hosting thing worked out this week 👍

Yeah, I was smoking the tires all over the track, especially in the Toyota, it's just too easy and fun not to, and when something throws me off (having to avoid another car, brake early or too much, etc) my tendency to jam on the accelerator to pull out of it is heightened.

Sliding/loose/smoking cars tend to look laggy more than well-behaved ones because the game doesn't "anticipate" such actions, so it throws off the computations that the game makes when trying to figure out where you're going to be.

It wasn't your fault. Like you said, no one asked you to give up the hosting spot. And whatever issues there were might not have been caused by the host anyway. Especially my weird lap time issues. Maybe I was just off my game last night, who knows. I still think it's best we work it out for next Sunday, just to be on the safe side. My connection used to be the same speed as yours (slower now. Uggh), and I had both good and bad luck hosting SNAIL events. A slightly faster host might make a difference or it might not, but at least we'll be covering all the bases.

Had some good racing with you last night. I'm still kicking myself for not being able to hold you off for 2nd at Spa :)

I think we were in a situation where no one was supposed to host, so we went with what we had. It's totally not your fault and we're not badmouthing your connection, but there are situations where some people have connection issues with other people. Whether that's issues between someone and the host, or between two drivers, it varies, but usually if we have a host with a good up and down connection we have good results. Personally, I think that someone on a cable modem should be a last resort host, since there's no guarantee that their neighbors won't take up all of their bandwidth. I'm on cable right now, and I hate it, but I have no other choice.

You had at least one problem, Ricky… hehehe.

I'm pretty sure you couldn't see dabney.

Too many yellow cars in D2 last night. I know that NMCP1 runs yellow car with red wheels and I run yellow car with yellow wheels. I saw someone else in the Vette running yellow/yellow, and somebody else running yellow with stock colored (I think) wheels. I guess the yellow/silver combo is available but the yellow/yellow is taken by me some time ago when nobody else in D2 was using it. I never formally requested it but haven't felt the need until now.
It is important to realize that having a yellow car with yellow wheels and a yellow car with silver wheels is effectively the same during a race. When a car is behind you the wheels will not be visible. We would like to keep the car colors unique. Of course since choosing a color is optional that does not always happen. NMCP is running Yellow so do you have a second choice?

yea i wanted orange on black if that ok
Orange is already spoken for in D5 by Handlebar.

That is a dark red correct? You are down for dark red and the number 28

Omg

The suspension is even unloaded. Awesome.

Heh. It's pretty unnerving when watching from behind…especially right off the line on the first race of the night. It would be one thing if it was at least "realistically" animated, but the car goes up and down in such a comical fashion that it really throws you off.

Joby, can you move my name from D1 to D2 in your color chart, please? Thanks!

There were guys in D1 that mentioned a general lack of grip in the lounge. I'm assuming that's in comparison to practice earlier in the week. I had nothing to base it off because qualifying was my practice as usual. Since it appears to be an issue in two different rooms, could it be something with the servers instead of anything to do with our hosts. I did notice it took an extra long time for me to enter the lounge last night.

I noticed a lack of grip in the second race last night. Ended up spinning. Seemed strange when it happened.

I noticed a lack of grip in the last two races, but that was because that car is an understeering pig. ;)

smoking tires alot doesnt necsessarily mean lag. i notice often times when im driving against a bunch of people with wheels in a car where melting the front tires is easy when braking, such as the supra, tires smoke alot more. same goes for the 350z. didnt see much in the corvette but thats probably because me and goat were having a good time a minute behind everyone else

nope.

Not sure what your point is. Never had trouble differentiating my yellow on yellow scheme from NMCP1's yellow with red wheels scheme. The red really stands out in the replays. Other than replays, it doesn't really matter if you can tell who's who in the car and even then, it is pretty easy to figure it out.

The only instance it would really matter is if you ran someone off the road and were waiting for them and just happened to have another similar colored car go by and think that was the person you ran off the road going by.

The majority of the time, people don't wait up when they wreck you anyway so that wouldn't likely happen.

The point is pick a different color. Please re-read Joby's response to you, which I've pasted below. I've emphasized the important part.

Correct. It's a dark shiny red. 28, got it. Thanks.

btw you guys testing with speedtest.net isnt bad but another good one is pingtest.net it will grade your connection based on latency, jitter, ping times. its good for checking if a connection is good enough for voip, gaming, or hi res streaming. just because your download/upload is high doesnt mean you have a quality connection
