How did you manage only one pit stop? The car runs out of fuel if you go over 6 laps. Had to pit twice so far. I might be driving a bit harder though, my gap is seven minutes.

Race suspended for the night at 2:29:something and second pit with a 4 min gap.

I'm seriously loafing just to keep the car on the track. Out of the 15 laps I've done, I've looped it one or more times on various laps. Might've had 3 laps where I didn't. Best lap so far is a 9:33. Until it gets over 120mph it doesn't make enough downforce to go half throttle, let alone full, without roasting the tires in even 5th gear. I sure hope the rain goes away and the track dries out before it gets dark. This might just be to much like "work", at least in the rain. Running 7-8 laps on a tank and I could probably squeeze in another if I had better tire management skills.

That makes sense. I am doing lap times around the 7:30 mark. I had no idea the game calculates fuel consumption like this. I thought it was a set value

Screw it I'm starting it up too. What car are you guys using?

Sweet. I'll fire it up here soon.

Edit. I'm going to be crazy and do it in the Audi TDI. HUD off and no track map. I'll have fuel and laps turned on, but I'm not sure what else.

Edit 2. I'm not level 40 yet so I'm doing le mans. HUD is back on.

Since you always mention that you race with non broken in cars, I assume you'd rather not have to do that. If you don't have time to break them in yourself, why not take advantage of offers from others to help you with that? :)

The reason I don't ask for cars is because I don't race here much anymore. When I do it's because I find out a few minutes before race time and just after the kids are in bed that I might have some free time to drive.

I'd hate to ask for cars beforehand and not be able to use them.

A couple of additional reasons that are just side effects...I like the challenge. If I can do better than most with cars down on power then it makes me feel better...if I do crappy then I have an excuse. If I did better than expected, like last night, then I can tell myself I could have won the night and go to bed happy. If I did crappy then hey, I can lean on my underpowered cars excuse. It's a win/win for someone who doesn't race here regularly.

Believe it or not, a lot guys in the league don't practice before Sunday night (they just don't feel the need to remind everyone about it all the time ;)).

Good to see snarkiness is still alive and well.

I only remind everyone about it when the above conditions I laid out are met. So far, what, twice in the last month or more? So pretty darn often. I need to have something to be proud of...Glad you are following my progress ;)

Anyways I like the idea of course. Now if the start time were moved back to 10pm and the format changed then I'd race every week.

Practice is important for the sake of racecraft and safety. I tend to miss my brake points more often if I don't practice much. Still learning every day...I guess :dunce:

Unfortunately, this league wasn't set up for you to determine which of the regulations you wanted to follow in order to make you feel better or give you excuses so that you can go to bed happy. It was set up to provide spec racing anyone who joined. As stated here, having cars that are broken in is a requisite to race - not just a recommendation. After all, this a spec racing league, so I kindly ask that you respect that core aspect of this league if you choose to race in it. 👍

Not trying to be snarky, just trying to point out something that even you don't seem to realize. Did you know that in your last 100 posts on this thread, at least ten percent of them include reminders that your results were achieved with zero practice and non broken in cars? After a certain point it's just, "Okay, we get it". If only you could break-in your cars and practice you'd take over D1! I guess I just wish you'd worry less about how fast others perceive you to be and just try to focus on having fun. :)

And for what it's worth, I follow everyone's progress on this thread. I read every word of it and can pretty much tell you who posted what, when, where, and why for all of the what is now approaching thirty thousand posts. Even posts from a year ago (like the one I linked above) are no problem for me to recall and find in a snap. It's probably an indication that I spend too much time on here. :ouch:

One time our high school basketball coach told us to go out there and have fun. The assistant coach later said, and I quote, "🤬 that, winning is fun, lets go out and :censored:ing win."

Best advice ever

not sure why we'd need more/stronger penalties...longer races mean more opportunities to pass, so people aren't hell bent on gettin 'er done (as has been said). Bunching up the 1st corner is just a fact of life..

Totally disagree with this one! Over the last 3 weeks we have been incident free because everyone uses their brakes.... Like Handlebar said, all our cars have them, learn to use them!

The last picture series I posted about the 'helluva race' shows there was many times in which we were inches away but did not make any contact...
I believe there was only 2 minor touch ups during the 5 laps.

It is possible to follow and attack closely incident free; and it requires a lot of practice and adjustment as drivers will have different breaking points and race lines.

LMAO.... I can relate to them both! however, here in SNAIL; I tend to do much better when I am just concentrating of the fun factor than winning.
FUN = Winning .. which Winning is also fun!

I think I am going to try this also. Might get me up to level 40 so I can try the Ring 24 hours. Probably going to use the Premium DLC Jaguar. :dopey:

LMAO I think we all agree that winning is fun! However, when your basketball team was winning a game, how often did your assistant coach go over to the opposing bench to tell your opponents that they were losing to you even though you guys hadn't practiced all week and that a few of your players were injured so you guys weren't at full strength? Or if you guys lost the game, would your coaches congratulate the other team during the post-game handshake or would they say something like, "We only lost to you because we didn't practice all week". :boggled:

While I agree, winning is fun, I would still rather get beat by 1, than win by 100.

Sportsmanship should be much more important than winning. The young haven't been taught sportsmanship in 20 or more years. When every professional athlete seems to celebrate every home run, touchdown or goal as if it were the game winner instead of doing what they're paid to do.... Just saying.

It looks good for my being home Sunday night and we don't have league racing. Hopefully I can make it next week and get 3 weeks in this season.

Did I hear there is interest in doing Spec F1??? How about 3 20 minute races with 10 minute Q? Tracks could be Indy Road, Spa, and Suzuka.
Oh, and maybe have tire/fuel on very fast to mix stuff right up?

Kinda like how everyone is always in a rush. People can't get where they need to go fast enough, can't get done with school fast enough, can't get a girlfriend fast enough. If people learned to slow their roll the world would be a lot better.

Life moves pretty fast; if you don't stop and look around sometimes you could miss it.

In all seriousness, you are totally right.👍
Some of us forget this is only a game and we are supposed to be having fun with it.

Well allow me to retort...

If everyone is "Required" to run their cars at the maximum PP then it should be mandatory that you post those exact numbers on the first page when the cars and tracks are listed. If the room can be set for a minimum PP or exact HP then it should be done. Otherwise how would we know who has a disadvantage? If that sounds corny...it probably is.

So, a full 10% of my recent 100 posts (meaning 10) are about me running with no practice etc? So not really requiring your comment "all the time" then?

It does give some insight into your feelings on the subject when you choose to devote your time to reading the last 100 comments I posted. Feels a little stalkery I gotta tell ya.

And maybe take a page from your own book by sending a PM if you have a problem with someone or how they conduct themselves on the forum.

The round that received the most elimination votes was:
ROUND 2 - Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren (19inch Wheel Option) '09 @Autodromo Nazionale Monza

Therefore the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since dabneyd wins Prize A, he gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.

The round that received the second most votes was:
ROUND 3 - Nissan SKYLINE GT-R R32 TC @Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps

This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since iroquois-- gets Prize B, he gets to decide which part of the combo is replaced and what replaces it.

Price C goes to Sandblazter so he gets any gift car ticket listed here (by posting his selection here on the thread).

Iroq,
Good driving and winning D5 again; can't help to comment that the GT-R is an awesome car. Good pick!

How about Suzuka?

Your Tuesday Steward's Update

We have at least one prize winner with a racing incident being investigated by the stewards. This may obviously change the order of the prizes to be selected. All winners are asked to refrain from making selections until the Weekly Steward's report has been posted.

@ SNAIL Stewards, please make your way to Steward's Forum and get 'er done. Not much there, so no reason to delay this past tonight. I will post the Summary tomorrow morning by 10am.

LMAO I think we all agree that winning is fun! Never, because when the head coach was out and he was running the team we didn't run after practice anymore because of the excessive amount he made us run during practice. And asking when he congratulated the other team pretty much means you didn't know the guy. He didn't take the head coach job because he had rage problems lol

id rather know my stuff is the same as everyone and beat them than get 4th with sub par stuff and idolize myself on an if statement. that is a pussy move. if you are so damn good show up with the right stuff and beat everyone, otherwise keep your mouth shut and show everyone what you got

i hate losing so much, that it drives me to win, not because i love winning so much.

on a side note, winning isnt everything... its the only thing.

Totally disagree with this one! Over the last 3 weeks we have been incident free because everyone uses their brakes.... Like Handlebar said, all our cars have them, learn to use them!

Yeah, Ok -- i'm with you on this. I usually go wide, or expect to slow early for the first corner, so I don't disagree.. No reason to be a douche going into it.

That said, just because the races are longer, I don't think we need harsher penalties...I don't get that.

@Zero - I voted for 2...PM'd Exo, and was online for the "I didn't get the votes" discussion, too. Down with 2!!
