A red fox + birds soaring + butterflies + cow bells + scenic mountain views + spring flowers + trains = Eiger Nordwand in all its glory. We start the night off with a smaller grid of 7 participants.

I agree with @Dragonwhisky's statement about the Fiat being quite fun to drive here. It's front wheel drivetrain keeps the oversteer to a minimum going down the switchbacks. It has just enough power to make the corner exit momentum at the bottom of the hill very important. Finally, it's short and narrow wheelbase allows for some passing room in a track that's tough to do so.

I figured I'd throw a map in here with the turn numbers for some reference.

1000005653.jpg

Lap 1: Generally, in Sports mode daily races, turn 1 is a dive-bombed pile of wreckage on the first lap. Not here in SNAIL! We all manage to respect each other's space and have a clean run down the twisty section. I started in 3rd and @TexHill and @racingchamp30 are on either side of me already. We'll have a good battle for the next couple of laps.

1000005654.jpg

@Oshawa-Joe leading the way into the uphill battle out of T7 with @JamCar0ne and the gang right behind. I'll get as many shots of the mountains in as I can while we're here.

1000005656.jpg

@TexHill had a brief encounter with the wall between turns 9 and 10, giving me the opportunity to move up to 3rd place for a little bit. I didn't get a chance to read your bumper sticker until the replay. "If you think this is slow wait 'til we go uphill!" LOL, love it! @racingchamp30 will make a move for P4 at the top of the hill, in turn 11.

1000005657.jpg

Lap 2: I make a run at @JamCar0ne for P2 on the way into turn 1 and end up testing the guard rail for weak spots. @racingchamp30 moves up to P3.

1000005658.jpg

@JamCar0ne creating some distance behind him at the lowest point of the track. Our battle for 3rd continues in the background.

1000005659.jpg

Three wide coming out of turn 7!!! I had a lot of fun racing with you two.

1000005660.jpg

Lap 3: While in position 3, Tex will conduct his own test of the guard rail in T1 and I'll overtake for 3rd. Here's a picture of @cesarr64 zooming across the bridge leaving T5. @racingchamp30 can be seen setting himself up for a pass on Tex up ahead. They'll be engaged in battle 'til the end.

1000005661.jpg

Lap 4: @Ropere finds himself in 6th as he rounds the final turn and enters Lap 5.

1000005662.jpg

Lap 5: @TexHill is driving like a mad man who's behind on his delivery route and climbs the hill quicker than Champ this time around.

1000005669.jpg

@Oshawa-Joe can't be caught and it's no wonder why when he puts down the fastest lap of the race during L5. All sub 1:23's so far, nice pace!

1000005663.jpg

Lap 6: @cesarr64 and @Ropere in a mad dash to the bottom of the esses.

1000005664.jpg

@TexHill and @racingchamp30 racing around T7. Anybody else hear cowbells over in that area?

1000005665.jpg

Cesar gets by just as they enter T11 but it won't stick.

Lap 8: Champ takes 4th in the downhill S-curves then Tex goes 'tit for tat' taking it back on the uphill section.

1000005666.jpg

Lap 9: As the back-and-forth battle continues, Champ passes on the esses again. They're just barely visible back there in this picture of @Oshawa-Joe. The reason you can hear cowbells rounding T7 becomes apparent from this point of view.

1000005667.jpg

Lap 11: @JamCar0ne demonstrating the proper way to drift a front wheel drive car on the turn 7 bridge.

1000005668.jpg

In a fight to the finish, @cesarr64 tries to overtake @Ropere approaching the final turn. Ropere manages to hold his own as they cross the finish line.

1000005651.jpg

The fox is leaving the henhouse, kind of fitting, being Inauguration Day and all . Probably not a henhouse, I don't know, woodshed maybe???

I'll try to have another recap or two up tomorrow, there was plenty of action last night.

Evening…looking for some tips on getting faster. First off, I really enjoy racing on Sunday nights. I’ve missed the sportsmanship driving. The Daily Races are so frustrating. I feel like I get one step forward on DR then two steps back due to inconsiderate drivers.

I just want to be more competitive and have been working on my trail breaking and throttle control. I’m using a Thrustmaster T598 wheel and pedals. Any tips or advice is appreciated!!!

Thanks…
If your schedule allows it, my trick is to do short practice sessions, no more than 10-15 minutes, with each combo but more often during the week instead of longer sessions less often.

By doing that you can see your improvements throughout the week.

Thanks…I do that as well. Combo 3 last night drove totally different then my practice and open practice. Car drove like it was on ice.
