GTSport is a fantastic game, and I really don't mean to bash it, even though my post kinda did. It's just too hard for me to go back and forth, AND be competitive with these guys. I can have a ball in the carreer/offline mode, but once I'm competing with guys that know the game well... I'm just a pace car. I still haven't really committed to trying yet though. There's still time. Oh, and if there's a D8, I'm back in a heartbeat! D8 is Gr8!

D5 we are having a fine time, come hang out with us on Sundays. Really have been enjoying the last couple weeks in, a bunch of helpful guys and come race night it really is just a good time. With what I have experienced in D5 we all want to win but we all want to be fair to everyone else to get that win. SNAIL is exactly what I was looking for when I posted about joining fun racing in a good community full of genuine good people.

I have the G29 and I believe it's strength is comparable to the T300RS even though it's gear and not belt. I'll try your settings and then the higher one like you said others use. Are they keeping both sensitivity and force high or sensitivity default/low and force up at 8/10?
Sorry I should have been clearer, the others had theirs set to like 8 sensitivity and 10 torque (or vice versa, I can't remember. Point is, their torque was set far higher than mine.
Perhaps the biggest pet peeve of mine for GTS... I run absolutely no assists in pcars2 but it’s damn near impossible to modulate brake pressure without locking up in GTS, so I’m forced to run ABS to be quick
Ya it's so terrible in GTS (and it was terrible in GT6). In Assetto Corsa and Project Cars 1 (both on PC), I can actually drive with the ABS off (at least in cars where that is the default). In GTS and GT6, the wheels instantly lock up the moment you press the brake.

With all the things from GT6 lacking in GTSport, one important thing remains. Boost. We can bring back pack racing and I think we really need to. With the new/changed physics and a huge influx of new drivers it can serve as a Master Class in driving technique.

All divisions are welcome to race together so you can see what the faster guys are doing and learn from them. They also get to work on overtaking cleanly and how to drive through a group from the back. And we have a new Miata to play with! What's not to like?!

Pack Racing tonight sometime after 8pm EST?

Hmmmm, that could be enough to entice me back to console on occasion. MNM was always good fun and required zero prep.

I'm probably good for that tonight. Wife has veto authority due to racing last night, but I think I can distract her long enough to run a few races in a slow car. :)

If you are more specific with the timing around this event and some other details , like track location or tuning do's/dont's you may get a nice group of people.

For the new racers : here is what he is referring to

For now I was just looking for an interest check. The thing with Pack Racing was that the track wasn't ever announced ahead of time. I can give some quick basics for anyone interested.

-15 minute timed races with the Mazda Roadster S (ND) '15. Default setup, no tuning
-No more than two races at a track before switching to another
-Rolling Start
-First race grid order is fastest first followed by reverse grid the rest of the night
-Boost set to Strong (I think that's what we used to run)
-Slipstream set to Real
-Visible Damage: Off - Mechanical Damage: Light
-Tire Wear - 1x
-Fuel Consumption - 1x
-Grip Reduction - Real
-No penalties on, we drive clean using the SNAIL OLR
-Only ABS allowed

If there's anything missing or you're not sure about please ask questions/comment.

Definitely something to figure out as we go along. We also used the Toyota FR-S as a second car. I'm thinking we use two tracks, two races at each track. Starting with the MX-5 at Track 1 and FR-S at Track 2, that should take up a decent chunk of time.

MX-5 default tires are SH so I'm thinking bump that to SM while bumping the FR-S to SS. This is more about race craft in a group and not so much car control as it's own beast so grippier tires help facilitate this.

Here's the lowdown:

Race Settings*

Start : Grid Start with False Start Check
Grid Order: Fastest First
Boost: Weak
Penalty: None
Tire/Fuel Depletion: Normal
Grip Reduction: Real
Visible Damage: Off
Mechanical Damage: Off
Slipstream: Real
Driving Line: Available
ABS: Available ( set to 1)
Other Aids: Off
Tuning: Prohibited

*General Rules*
We expect all drivers to follow the S.N.A.I.L. OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR) and pursue good racecraft at all times.

if you're not sure what good racecraft is, watch this video .

It can be summed up in one simple 'Golden Rule' of motorsports: It is the responsibility of the overtaking driver, meaning the car that is attempting to execute the pass, to make sure that the pass is made cleanly and incident free. If you don't agree with this rule or don't think it applies to you, please go elsewhere to race !

We also require you to run a number/number plate on your cars, along with differing colours from your competitors. Should two competitors run with the same colour, we will ask the driver who has most recently signed up to switch. You are allowed to change car/wheel colour from week to week, keeping in mind what colours were used before so as to not conflict with the other drivers paint schemes. This is not for photo ops, but to decipher who's who on track while in the heat of the battle.

Thanks for the link man, greatly appreciated.. I was typing my post when you edited yours. I made a livery of the 1991 IMSA GTO RX-7 but we don't have all the decals available yet. Still looks cool tho

Hey is this where I post to join SNAIL? If so, PSN: BradESPN

That @nmcp1 must be sleeping in the job.

he will get you a welcome message as soon as possible. In the meantime, feel free to join our practice room usually by searching 'SnailRacing.Org'

@JLBowler Please add @BradESPN to the "Joining SNAIL" conversation.

Done. I can't add people while driving and I just got in to San Diego for work this week. I have internet access but I won't have computer access during the day so any adds to that conversation this week will have to happen in the evenings.

If I make a room will people join? I don't want to wait around for an hour just for three people to show up. If anything we should organize more for an official outing next week. Admittedly this was short notice.

Watching some TV now but will be on in a bit for a drive

Usually it is, but this is a bit different. It's about practicing overtakes and racing in a field of drivers. Like I said in the lobby, if you're ahead by 10 seconds for multiple laps you should slow down a bit and at least give the field a chance to fight for position.
